Courses drawn to one scale: Mesa del Sol Golf Club, Yuma: The Foothills Course That Skips Overseed

Mesa del Sol Golf Club in Yuma is a public 18-hole, par-72 course in the Fortuna Foothills, 21 minutes from downtown, and the only Yuma course listed as not overseeding in 2026. In late October 2026 it sold 18 holes with a cart for $35 to $55, and its 2026-27 six-month pass costs $3,500.

Mesa del Sol Golf Club is the cheapest full-length public 18 in the Foothills that you can book online. The trade-offs are winter pace, mixed reviews on conditions and a sheet that leagues and passholders fill from November.

The Mesa del Sol layout

Mesa del Sol Golf Club is a traditional desert-edge course below the Gila Mountains, with homes along many holes and ponds on holes 3, 4, 5, 9, 13 and 17. Its two nines sit on opposite sides of S Camino del Sol, and holes 10 to 18 are south of the road from the clubhouse.

It is mostly open off the tee. We rate it 3 of 5: 124 slope from the Black tees, but the forward tees are short (Green 5,182 yards, Silver 4,265). The club's contact page says it is owned by HISCO Inc. The pace standard on the card is 4 hours, and slow groups may be asked to skip holes.

Winter 2026-27 public rates were not published or loaded online on Oct 23, so expect winter prices to differ. There is no published senior or winter-resident green-fee rate; snowbirds use the pass instead.

How booking works

The club's own TeeItUp page shows about 14 days of public times (on Oct 23, 2026, through Nov 6). The engine uses dynamic pricing, so rates move with demand and with how far ahead you book. All online times are prepaid, online rates apply only to online bookings, and rack rates at the course may be higher. Cancelling needs 48 hours' notice, and refunds come back as a gift card. Online times are sold to groups of two to four.

GolfNow shows only about 7 days but sometimes carries the Hot Deals above. Passholders book on a separate TeeItUp page. For how this compares with other courses, see Yuma tee times in winter.

Why skipping overseed matters

Most Yuma courses close for a few weeks between late September and late October to overseed with rye. Mesa del Sol does not, per the Arizona Golf Association's 2026 list and the Yuma Sun's 2024 roundup. That makes it the obvious October round in the Foothills while Las Barrancas is closing one nine at a time.

The pass terms say the course may close one nine at a time for aeration, seeding or summer re-establishment. Whether the fairways get any light winter overseed is not confirmed, so ask the shop what to expect in mid-winter. Our Yuma golf overseed guide has the other courses' 2026 dates.

Mesa del Sol passes for 2026-27

Pass Price
6-month individual$3,500
6-month family$5,650
12-month individual$4,400
12-month family$7,150

Passes include green fees, cart, range and sales tax, plus 10% off pro-shop items. The early-bird discounts (10% by Aug 31 and 5% by Sep 15, 2026) have passed. Terms that matter:

  • Start date: you pick the start of a 6-month pass, but it must be before Mar 1, 2027, and you cannot buy it more than 4 months before it starts.
  • Family: up to two adults and minor children in one household.
  • Canadian cheques: a cheque drawn on a Canadian bank adds $50.
  • Prime-time limit: passholder access may be limited in prime weekday times, about 9:00 to 10:37 AM, and passes are not valid for outside events.
  • Private carts: need management approval, a $100 annual trail fee, proof of insurance and a permit decal.

Does it pay? At the late-October morning rate of $55, a $3,500 six-month pass breaks even at about 64 rounds, or roughly two and a half rounds a week for 26 weeks. Winter public rates were not posted, so check the break-even again once they are. Our Yuma golf passes guide compares every course's options, and Canadian snowbirds in Yuma covers paying from a Canadian account.

Men's and ladies' groups

Mesa del Sol Golf Club has a Men's Association and a Ladies' club, plus a handicap-only option for golfers who do not join either:

  • Men's Association: Fridays from 11 AM, mid-October to mid-April.
  • Ladies: Monday and Thursday from 9 AM, November to April (the 2025-26 league ran Nov 3, 2025 to Apr 30, 2026).
  • Can-Am men's group: also takes a block of the sheet in season.

No 2026-27 membership prices were published; call 928-342-1283. Our guide to Yuma golf leagues explains how the associations work across town.

Getting a tee time in peak season as a visitor

Because the pass terms limit passholders in that 9:00 to 10:37 AM weekday window, that is when public times are easiest to find. Avoid Friday from 11 AM and Monday and Thursday mornings, and check the Saturday calendar for outside scrambles. Afternoons are cheaper and quieter. Pace is the known weak point in winter: GolfPass reviewers rate pace lowest, and reviewers report 5 hours or more on busy days.

Practice, food and house rules

The full-length grass range is open to the public from dawn to dusk. Basket sales end 60 minutes before sunset, and the range closes 2 hours before sunset on Monday and reopens mid-morning Tuesday. There is an all-turf hitting area, a chipping green and two to three putting greens. Lessons run October to April with LPGA pro Marci Brock and with Rich Walton, both $75 for 45 minutes.

The clubhouse has a snack bar, a full bar and a dining room and patio over the 9th green and pond, with patio music nights in season and limited food in summer. Bringing outside alcohol onto the course is prohibited, and leaving sunflower seed or pistachio shells on the greens can get you removed. Collarless shirts are permitted.

Mesa del Sol or Las Barrancas?

Mesa del Sol is cheaper, open in October and has a longer online window. Las Barrancas has the more interesting layout and a Trackman range. The full comparison is in Las Barrancas vs Mesa del Sol, and the Mesa del Sol course guide and Las Barrancas course guide have the data side by side.

Plan it on the map

Mesa del Sol Golf Club sits at the west end of the Foothills cluster on the Yuma golf map, with the condos, hotels and RV resorts around it. The $30 plan can cover a whole winter stay with a weekly rotation that uses your pass here and fills the gaps elsewhere.
