Scorecard: The Ledges Golf Club, St. George, Utah: A Flat Front, a Snow Canyon Back Nine, and a Price That Changes by the Hour

At The Ledges Golf Club, St. George's semi-private Matt Dye course on the north edge of town, the back nine runs along the red and white Navajo sandstone bordering Snow Canyon State Park. It is about 15 minutes from downtown St. George, Utah, and anyone can book it online up to 120 days out. Prices are dynamic: on the dates we checked in October 2026, autumn and spring mornings ran $255 to $295, while afternoon times fell to $112 to $125 in October and as low as $75 in winter.

It is really two different nines, and a course whose price depends heavily on when you tee off. This guide treats it that way.

Where The Ledges sits: north St. George, above Snow Canyon

The Ledges is the northernmost course in St. George, on the high ground above Snow Canyon State Park. Greater Zion describes it as sitting on the cliffs above the park. It is on the west half of the valley, with the Ivins and Snow Canyon courses as its neighbours, and a long way from the Hurricane cluster on the other side of Washington County.

Drive times on our map, from downtown St. George and from The Ledges' own vacation rentals:

Course From downtown St. George From The Ledges rentals
The Ledges15 min1 min
Dixie Red Hills (city 9)7 min10 min
Black Desert (Ivins)13 min15 min
Entrada at Snow Canyon (private)12 min15 min
Sunbrook (west side)12 min17 min
Green Spring (Washington)12 min21 min
Coral Canyon (Washington)17 min27 min
Sand Hollow (Hurricane)32 min42 min
Wolf Creek (Mesquite, NV)52 min62 min

So The Ledges belongs to a west-side trip. Sunbrook and Dixie Red Hills are the cheap city rounds nearby, and Black Desert is the resort splurge in Ivins. Entrada is private; the only way for a visitor to play it is as a guest of The Inn at Entrada. For that whole cluster, see our guide to Ivins and Snow Canyon golf.

Two nines, two different courses

The front nine is wide, open and flatter. The back nine is the canyon show. You can see it in the terrain numbers.

Front nine Back nine
Par36 (two par 3s, two par 5s)36 (two par 3s, two par 5s)
Total climb, tee to green~59 ft~65 ft
Total drop, tee to green~72 ft~134 ft
Biggest single change23 ft down (9th)41 ft down (13th)
Hardest hole4th (handicap 1)16th (handicap 2)

Elevation is tee to green from a terrain model of the mapped holes. The back nine drops almost twice as far as the front.

The front nine

The front gives you a chance to settle in. The 4th, a 436-yard par 4 (mapped) that falls about 18 feet, is the hardest hole on the card. The 2nd is a long par 3 at about 227 mapped yards. The two par 5s, the 3rd and 7th, both run past 520 yards, one uphill and one down. The 9th, handicap 3, drops about 23 feet back toward the clubhouse.

The back nine on the Snow Canyon rim

From the 13th the course tips downhill along the sandstone:

  • 13th, par 4, ~411 yards: the biggest drop on the course, about 41 feet.
  • 14th, par 4, ~371 yards: another 31 feet down.
  • 15th, par 4, ~294 yards: drivable, with plenty of risk. GolfPass calls it "perhaps the signature hole." It falls about 33 feet.
  • 16th, par 5, ~513 yards: handicap 2, still heading downhill (about 19 feet).
  • 17th, par 4, ~407 yards: the climb back out, about 29 feet uphill.
  • 18th, par 4, ~422 yards: finishes below the clubhouse and the Fish Rock Grille patio.

Yardages above are as mapped, so expect differences from the scorecard.

The back nine has the canyon carries and elevation that earn the course its 3.5 out of 5 difficulty in our records. Reviewers call it fair.

Playing at about 3,800 feet

At about 3,810 feet at the clubhouse, The Ledges has the highest clubhouse of any course on our map, roughly 800 to 1,250 feet above the city courses in the valley. That has two small effects: it is slightly cooler, and the ball flies a bit farther.

Tees and ratings

Silver5,57666.3 / 11671.8 / 122
Red4,94763.5 / 10668.1 / 118

All are par 72, and the ratings are official USGA figures. The club's website lists older, longer yardages, so trust the tee sheet and scorecard on the day. A 131 slope from the tips is moderate for the area; Coral Canyon in Washington carries 148. See the hardest golf courses in St. George for the full list.

The Ledges Golf Club: St. George's price-by-the-hour course

The course publishes no rate card. These are live Chronogolf prices per player (two-player search), pulled October 11, 2026:

When Price seen
Sat Oct 24, 2026, mornings$275–$295
Tue Oct 20, 2026, mornings$255
October, from 2 pm$145–$175
October, at 4 pm$112–$125
Tue Nov 17, 2026, mornings$135–$164
Tue Nov 17, 2026, 1 pm$87
November, after 2–3 pm$79–$95
Jan–Feb 2027, after 2:30 pm$75–$105
Sat Mar 20, 2027$286–$295
Tue Mar 16, 2027$258

The pattern is clear. Spring and autumn mornings are near $300, while a winter or November afternoon costs about a third of that. The 4 hour 20 minute pace setting helps if you start late, but watch the light: St. George averages highs of about 53 to 54°F in December and January, and winter days are short. Our twilight golf guide compares this with Sand Hollow and others, and St. George green fees puts every course side by side.

GolfNow lists the cart as included, though the club does not confirm that, and no walking policy is published.

Booking tee times at The Ledges

  • 120 days out, the longest public window among the courses in St. George itself (Sand Hollow, in Hurricane, allows 180). For a March weekend, book as soon as your date opens.
  • Prepaid. Full refund only if you cancel 48 or more hours ahead.
  • Singles cannot book onto an empty tee time online.
  • Club 72 pass: $175 a year for Washington County residents (valid calendar 2026). It gives 20% off green fees and 7-day booking, but cannot be combined with Super Twilight. See St. George golf local discounts.

Practice, food and the clubhouse

The practice setup:

  • Full-length grass driving range with targets from 50 to 300 yards, plus a synthetic tee line
  • Grass and synthetic putting greens
  • Range balls included before a round; a $20 range-only pass gives 2 hours
  • A chipping complex is in planning

For food there is the Fish Rock Grille (435-634-4650), the 19th Hole Bar and a Range House snack bar. Lessons are with Clif Vanetti, PGA Director of Instruction. The dress code is simple: appropriate golf attire, shirts and shoes at all times, no swimwear.

Turf and overseed details are not confirmed by the club. A directory lists bentgrass greens and rye fairways, so check for a fall closure before booking September dates.

Staying at The Ledges

The Ledges of St. George Vacation Rentals are 1 minute from the course: single-family homes, villas and townhouses with 3 to 7 bedrooms, every one with a full kitchen. Some of the large group homes sleep 18 or more. Rental guests are offered discounted golf: $10 off per player for morning rounds when booked through the rental office rather than the course. Watch the fine print: resort and cleaning fees only appear on the quote, and cancellation terms are strict (14 or 60 days).

The resort also quotes stay-and-play packages:

Rates and fees are by quote only. A third-party package was advertised "from $495" per person for 3 nights and 3 rounds, but its date is unconfirmed. See St. George golf packages for alternatives.

Location is the trade-off. The rentals sit about 15 minutes from central St. George and about 42 minutes from Sand Hollow by our routing, so the package rounds in Hurricane mean real driving. Other stays nearby: The Advenire downtown is 14 minutes away and The Inn at Entrada is 15. Our where to stay for golf in St. George guide compares the bases.

Pairing The Ledges with other rounds

The price curve suggests the plan. Play a cheap morning round nearby, then take a discounted afternoon tee time at The Ledges:

  • Sunbrook in the morning ($88 with a cart, October to May), then The Ledges after 2 pm.
  • Dixie Red Hills, the city's nine-hole course 10 minutes away, as a short warm-up.
  • Black Desert in Ivins, 15 minutes away, if the trip has a splurge day.

Who The Ledges suits

Good fit: golfers who want canyon scenery and can play in the afternoon, when the price drops hardest, and groups who want a house on the course. Less good: anyone basing a trip on the Hurricane side of the valley, where Sand Hollow and Copper Rock are much closer.
