Entrada at Snow Canyon golf, on the west side of St. George, Utah, is private, so you cannot book a public tee time. The one route in for a visitor without a member is to stay at The Inn at Entrada, which sits inside the club's gates and arranges tee times for guests who book direct. The course is a Johnny Miller layout rebuilt by David McLay Kidd, ranked #5 in Utah by Golf Digest for 2025-26, and it sits 3 minutes from Black Desert in Ivins.
That makes planning Entrada at Snow Canyon golf different from other St. George golf courses: it starts with the room, not the tee sheet. Here is how access works, what the rebuild changed, how the course plays, what is still unpublished, and how it fits with the rest of the west side.

Two numbers to keep handy: the Inn on 435-634-7100 and the golf shop on 435-986-2207. Ask the golf shop for the current guest green fee and booking window, because neither is published.

The Inn at Entrada: the key to the gate
The Inn at Entrada is a set of casitas and homes inside the gated community, about 1 minute from the course by road.
- Units: studio and one-bedroom suites, two- and three-bedroom suites, three- to five-bedroom casitas, and private homes; the largest, the Johnny Miller Home, sleeps 10. There are 83 bedrooms in total and each has its own bathroom.
- For a golf group: the Anasazi four-bedroom casita sleeps 8, and nobody ends up sharing a bathroom. See our buddies golf trip guide.
- On site: kitchens in every unit (full kitchens in the larger casitas), an outdoor pool and hot tub at the club, a fitness studio and spa, and your own private garage.
- Dining: Sol Mesa (lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday, country-club attire), the Cactus Rye bar, and Koko's Patio for breakfast and lunch Tuesday to Sunday. The listed schedule has dining closed Mondays, and hours are seasonal.
- Resort fee: per night by unit size, read on the official site in October 2026: $20 for a studio, $25 one-bedroom, $30 two-bedroom, $40 three-bedroom casita and $50 four- or five-bedroom casita, plus tax. Room tax of 12.32% is extra.

What David McLay Kidd changed
The original course opened in 1996 to a Johnny Miller design. From 2020 to 2022 Kidd did a strip-down rebuild reported at about $7 to $8 million:
- Every green rebuilt, lowered and enlarged
- Fairways widened and recontoured
- Every bunker replaced
- The 15th converted from a short par 4 into a par 3
- A punchbowl green built on the par-5 16th
- New irrigation
Golf Digest named it a Best Transformation of 2022, and it has since climbed from #9 to #5 on Golf Digest's Utah list. The grand reopening ran April 1 to 3, 2022.
Turf: the greens are bentgrass, resurfaced in the rebuild. Sources disagree on the fairways. The Inn says ryegrass and Kentucky bluegrass, while the club's reopening page says bentgrass tees and fairways with bluegrass rough.
How Entrada at Snow Canyon golf plays now
Kidd built it for the ground game. Black lava flows and streams run through the property, but the fairways are wide and Kidd's "kicker" mounds feed bump-and-run shots. The standard tip: land approaches short and let the slopes feed the ball on.
The par is 71: a 35 front with one par 5, and a 36 back with two.
| Stretch | Mapped holes | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Holes 1–2 | Par 4s of 463 and 415 yards | The two hardest holes on the front (handicap 3 and 1), both downhill: about 32 and 24 feet |
| Holes 3–5 | Two par 4s and a 157-yard par 3 | Climbing back: 41, 20 and 22 feet uphill |
| Hole 9 | Par 5, 615 yards | Longest hole, about 21 feet downhill |
| Hole 10 | Par 4, 462 yards, handicap 2 | Biggest drop on the course, about 65 feet |
| Holes 11–12 | 583-yard par 5, 205-yard par 3 | Still falling: 23 and 18 feet |
| Holes 15–17 | Par 3, par 5, par 4 | The lava-field stretch |
| Hole 18 | Par 4, 423 yards, handicap 4 | Elevated tee to the valley below |
Yardages are from the mapped layout and elevation is tee to green from a terrain model. Across 18 holes, the course drops about 212 feet and climbs about 129. The course sits at about 2,953 feet, close to Black Desert's elevation and well below The Ledges.
The 15-17 lava run
Holes 15 to 17 are the club's most iconic stretch, and they were once its most hated. The rebuild reshaped two of them: the 15th became a par 3 and the 16th got a punchbowl green.
- 15th: now a par 3, mapped at about 235 yards.
- 16th: a par 5 with a punchbowl green set below the fairway. It is reachable in two for shorter hitters.
- 17th: a par 4 of about 423 mapped yards, falling about 20 feet.
The tip is simple: aim for the middle of greens here. This is where cards fall apart.
Tees and ratings
All tees are par 71. Ratings are the official USGA figures.
| Tee | Yards | Men (rating / slope) | Women (rating / slope) |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | 7,053 | 73.5 / 139 | 80.3 / 150 |
| II | 6,552 | 71.2 / 135 | 77.6 / 144 |
| II/III | 6,228 | 69.6 / 131 | — |
| III | 6,066 | 68.8 / 129 | 74.8 / 139 |
| III/IV | 5,798 | 67.6 / 124 | — |
| IV | 5,569 | 66.6 / 117 | 72.1 / 132 |
| IV/V | 5,168 | 65.0 / 112 | 69.6 / 127 |
| V | 4,907 | 63.7 / 107 | 68.4 / 122 |
Eight options across 2,146 yards means there is a sensible tee for almost any group, which helps when a buddies trip mixes handicaps.

Pairing Entrada with Black Desert and the west side
Black Desert is 3 minutes from the Inn by road (see the Black Desert course page). A stay at the Inn gives you Entrada and puts the Golf Digest #2 course in Utah a short drive away, at the non-guest rate ($325 to $450 in 2026). Read our Black Desert golf course guide for its fees and the fall tour closure, which ran September 14 to October 6 in 2026.
From the Inn, The Ledges is about 15 minutes and Sunbrook about 12, so a full west-side golf trip is within easy reach without crossing town:
- Day 1: Entrada as an Inn guest.
- Day 2: Black Desert, with a forecaddie included in the fee.
- Day 3: The Ledges in the afternoon, when its dynamic prices drop, or Sunbrook for a city-course rate.

Questions golfers ask
Can the public play Entrada at Snow Canyon in St. George, Utah?
Not directly. It is a private, Troon-managed club for members and their guests. A visitor without a member gets on by staying at The Inn at Entrada, whose casitas sit inside the gates; the Inn's team arranges tee times when you book the stay direct on 435-634-7100.
How much does it cost to play Entrada as an Inn guest?
The guest green fee is not published. We checked the club and Inn websites in October 2026, and the Inn's offers page listed no golf package. Call the golf shop on 435-986-2207 for a current price.
Where is Entrada at Snow Canyon?
On the west side of St. George at 2537 W Entrada Trail, about 12 minutes (5.6 miles) from downtown. Black Desert Resort in Ivins is 3 minutes from The Inn at Entrada, Sunbrook about 12 minutes and The Ledges about 15.
Who designed Entrada at Snow Canyon?
Johnny Miller designed the original course, which opened in 1996. David McLay Kidd stripped it down and rebuilt it from 2020 to 2022, and it reopened with a grand opening April 1 to 3, 2022. Golf Digest named it a Best Transformation of 2022.
How hard is Entrada at Snow Canyon?
From the 7,053-yard I tees it rates 73.5 with a 139 slope for men. After the Kidd rebuild it is far more playable for mid-handicaps, with wider fairways and bigger greens, but the lava-field run on 15 to 17 still decides a lot of scorecards.
What is the dress code at Entrada?
Proper golf attire on the course, range and clubhouse. Men need collared shirts with sleeves (mocks are fine) and slacks or Bermuda shorts, with no jeans, T-shirts, cargo or gym shorts. Hats are worn forward and soft spikes only.
