Tee-time ticket: Scottsdale golf and spring training: how to book the February and March peak

Scottsdale golf and spring training overlap from February 19 to about March 20-23, 2027, when Cactus League crowds, spring break and the best weather of the year all land on the same courses. Green fees and room rates are at their peak, so book rooms months ahead, book tee times the day each window opens, and pick courses near your ballpark.

This guide covers the 2027 dates, which courses sit near which ballparks, what peak golf costs, the hotels that spike, and a simple day plan. Prices were seen in 2026 and change.

Quick facts

  • Spring training 2027: games from Friday, February 19 to about March 20-23, by team.
  • Right before it: WM Phoenix Open week, February 8-14, 2027, at TPC Scottsdale.
  • Ballparks: ten parks hosting 15 MLB clubs, from Salt River Fields and Scottsdale Stadium to Mesa, Tempe and the West Valley.
  • Weather: about 71F in February and 78F in March, with three to four rain days a month.

Ballparks and the courses near them

Fifteen clubs train at ten ballparks. These are the courses in the same part of the Valley as each group:

What peak golf costs in February and March

Course Rate seen Source and date
We-Ko-Pa Saguaro$329; $359 Feb 9-14club rates page, 2026-27
We-Ko-Pa 36-hole package$619; $679 Feb 9-14club rates page, 2026-27
TPC Scottsdale Stadiumup to $550 after the OpenGolfNewsNet, Feb 2026
Troon North Monumentabout $265 (Dec-Apr)unofficial tracker, Apr 2026

We-Ko-Pa rates exclude 9% tax and apply to both courses; see the Saguaro course guide. TPC's Champions Course costs far less than the Stadium if the group only wants one TPC round.

Card programs help snowbirds more than visitors. The Talking Stick Card ($129 plus tax) gives card rates for the holder and a guest when booked 3 days or less out, and the Arcis Players' Card ($279) blacks out its bonus round February 10-14, 2027.

Scottsdale golf and spring training on a budget

Peak season does not have to mean $300 rounds. The City of Phoenix courses kept muni prices through their February 2 to May 31, 2026 peak season:

Course Public walking rate Phoenix Golf Card
Aguila$69 weekday / $74 weekend$49 / $51
Cave Creek$60 / $65$46 / $48
Encanto$60 / $65$46 / $48
Palo Verde (9 holes)$26 / $27$20 / $21

A cart was $16 extra for 18 holes, and the 2027 peak sheets had not been published when checked, so treat these as last season's rates. The card costs $60 the first year for Maricopa County residents and $120 a year for non-residents, so it suits a snowbird more than a one-week visitor. Encanto is the closest city 18 to downtown Phoenix hotels, and Cave Creek suits a north Phoenix base. Ken McDonald, also in Tempe, lists a weekend peak average of up to $50 (undated). Mixing one marquee round with two or three of these is the simplest way to keep Scottsdale golf and spring training affordable in the same week.

Booking tee times for spring training

  1. Book 90-day courses as soon as dates are firm: We-Ko-Pa, Kierland, Eagle Mountain, Dove Valley Ranch, Gold Canyon's Dinosaur Mountain and Sidewinder, and Quintero all open that far ahead.
  2. For TPC Scottsdale, a third-party guide says peak times book out 30 to 60 days ahead; Fairmont Princess guests can use its concierge, which books up to 90 days out.
  3. City of Phoenix courses open 9 days ahead for the public, 10 to 14 days for Phoenix Golf Card holders.
  4. Morning times go first. Afternoon golf in March is pleasant if mornings are gone.

Each course's window is in Scottsdale tee times.

Where to stay

Hotels next to ballparks rise hardest in March. Our notes flag the Sheraton Mesa Hotel at Wrigleyville West beside the Cubs, plus the Courtyard Scottsdale Salt River and Talking Stick Resort near Salt River Fields. The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is next to TPC and books out in Phoenix Open week. No dated March room rates were captured, so compare early. Our guide to where to stay in Scottsdale for golf compares the areas.

A spring training golf day

March averages 78F, so a morning tee time near your ballpark followed by an afternoon game is the classic day. Two examples:

  • Salt River Fields day: morning round at Talking Stick, a short drive to the park, dinner in Old Town.
  • Mesa day: morning at Longbow or Dobson Ranch, a Cubs game at Sloan Park, then downtown Mesa.

Game times were largely to be announced when checked; confirm before booking a late tee time. More off-course ideas are in things to do in Scottsdale, and the Phoenix Open week itself is in planning a Phoenix Open golf trip.

If spring training dates do not suit

April keeps the good weather (85.5F) with snowbirds leaving and many courses stepping rates down, and November is cheaper again. See the best time to golf in Scottsdale. Palm Springs has its own spring calendar in the Palm Springs spring golf guide.

Plan it on the map

Open the Scottsdale golf map to see the courses, ballparks' neighbouring hotels and drive times from Old Town. The $30 plan can build Scottsdale golf and spring training into one trip, with rounds placed near the parks you want to see.

Questions golfers ask

When is spring training in Arizona in 2027?

All 15 Cactus League clubs open games on Friday, February 19, 2027, and games run to about March 20-23 depending on the team. Game times were largely to be announced when we checked, and one report flagged a possible labour disruption in 2027.

Which golf courses are closest to spring training ballparks?

Talking Stick Golf Club's two courses sit near Salt River Fields, home of the Diamondbacks and Rockies. Papago is minutes from Old Town's Scottsdale Stadium, and Dobson Ranch, Longbow and Las Sendas are Mesa courses near the Cubs' and Athletics' parks. The Wigwam and Palm Valley serve the West Valley ballparks.

How much does golf cost in Scottsdale during spring training?

It is peak season. We-Ko-Pa's resort rate is $329 from February 15 to April 25, 2027, and GolfNewsNet reported TPC Scottsdale Stadium rates as high as $550 in the weeks after the 2026 Phoenix Open. Cheaper options include Talking Stick with its $129 card and the city courses.

How far ahead should I book a March golf trip to Scottsdale?

Book rooms months ahead and tee times the day each window opens. We-Ko-Pa, Kierland and several others open 90 days out, so a mid-March round can be booked in mid-December. The City of Phoenix courses open only 9 days ahead for the public.

Which hotels get expensive for spring training?

Those next to ballparks. Our hotel notes flag sharp March increases at the Sheraton Mesa Hotel at Wrigleyville West (Cubs), the Courtyard Scottsdale Salt River and Talking Stick Resort (both near Salt River Fields). No dated March room rates were captured.

Is the WM Phoenix Open the same time as spring training?

They are back to back. Phoenix Open tournament week is February 8-14, 2027 at TPC Scottsdale, and spring training games start five days later, on February 19. Together they make mid-February to March the most expensive stretch of the year.

What is a good spring training golf day?

A morning round followed by an afternoon game. March averages 78F at Sky Harbor, so a morning tee time is comfortable, and a course near the ballpark keeps the drive short. Check game times once teams publish them.
