Lely Resort golf means two public courses in East Naples, Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s Flamingo Island and Lee Trevino's Mustang, on one tee sheet at 8004 Lely Resort Blvd. A third course, the Classics, is private. GolfNow listed Flamingo Island at about $108 with cart for a September 2026 date, and GreenLinks villa renters get guest perks.

That makes Lely one of the simplest bases in Naples for a golfer: two big public courses at one address about 16 minutes from downtown, plus owner-rented villas on property. This guide compares the two courses, shows what the files say about rates and booking, and explains what a GreenLinks stay does and does not include. Facts were checked November 3, 2026.

Quick facts

  • Public courses: Flamingo Island (Robert Trent Jones Sr., 1991) and Mustang (Lee Trevino, 1997), both par 72.
  • Private: The Classics at Lely Resort (Gary Player, 1990), members and guests only.
  • Book: public tee times on the club site; also listed on GolfNow and TeeOff. Booking window not published.
  • Phone: 239-793-2600.
  • Back tees: Flamingo Island 7,095 yards, 75.3/140. Mustang 7,230 yards, 74.7/135.
  • Rate seen: Flamingo Island about $108 with cart for September 14, 2026 (GolfNow).
  • From downtown Naples: about 16-17 minutes, 8.7-8.8 miles.
  • Google rating: 4.2 from 225 reviews (shared listing).

Who can play Lely Resort golf

The club site lists Lely Flamingo Island and Lely Mustang as public, with online tee times, and the research found no 2026 closure notice. GolfNow showed bookable times for September 2026.

One note of caution. GolfPass says a resort stay is required for a tee time at Lely, which disagrees with the club site. The club site is the official source, so our map treats both courses as public, but if you are booking for peak season, call the shop on 239-793-2600 to confirm.

The Classics at Lely Resort is a different matter. It is a private equity club with a listed golf initiation of $100,000 and dues of $22,200. Visitors play it only as a member's guest. See private golf clubs in Naples for how that works.

Flamingo Island vs Mustang

Both courses are flat South Florida resort layouts with water. Flamingo Island has more of everything: more water, big bunkers and mounding, and a higher slope from every tee.

Women's ratings: Flamingo Island White 74.6/136 and Aqua 70.8/128; Mustang White/Aqua 72.3/124, Aqua 70.6/120 and Yellow 66.2/113. Flamingo tee data is from GolfNow and Mustang tee data from naplesgolfguy (undated); neither was checked against the national rating database.

Flamingo Island is the research's pick at Lely: long, watery and a fair test, and the easiest big-course tee time in East Naples. It rates 4 out of 5 from the Black tees. Greens are Champion ultradwarf bermuda and fairways are 419 bermuda. There is a driving range, a pitching and chipping area, a putting green and a teaching pro, plus a grill for lunch and dinner.

Mustang is wider, with water and waste areas, and the research calls it the friendlier second round of a Lely double. Note the White tees: about the same yardage as Flamingo Island but a slope of 119 against 130. For a mixed-ability group, that matters more than the 135 from the back.

The plan most groups use: play both on back-to-back days from one base. They share the Lely Resort public tee sheet. Open the Flamingo Island course guide and the Mustang course guide for hole maps.

Lely Resort golf rates

Lely publishes no official rate card, and the files hold one firm green fee.

A September date is summer pricing, the cheapest part of the year, so expect winter tee times to cost more. Carts and rental clubs are available. For how Lely sits against the rest of the area, read Naples golf rates and public golf courses in Naples.

GreenLinks Golf Villas at Lely Resort are 2- and 3-bedroom condo villas on property, fewer than 100 units according to GolfPass, rented by individual owners and agencies. A FairwayFinder reviewer and owner listings say staying there gets you discounted fees and preferred tee times on Flamingo Island and Mustang, booked through GreenLinks condo reception rather than online.

Minimum stays vary: 3 nights on the FloridaRentals unit, 30 days with other owners. Villas have a full kitchen, and the complex has a heated pool, hot tub, gym, tennis, pickleball and bocce. One owner's unit includes free golf from May 15 to October 15, with the cart fee paid to Lely Golf Club.

The catch: golf perks differ by unit and season, and the guest-golf terms come from listings and GolfPass, not from Lely's club. Get the perks in writing before you pay. For other golf-community rentals, see Naples golf community rentals and Naples snowbird rentals.

Booking Lely Resort golf

Public tee times for both courses go through the public tee-times link on the Lely Resort club site, and both also appear on GolfNow and TeeOff. The club does not publish its booking window, so for January to April book as early as the system lets you, and call the shop on 239-793-2600 if you want to confirm public access for peak dates.

GreenLinks guests book differently: tee times go through GreenLinks condo reception (the GolfPass listing gives 239-732-9920) rather than the public site, which is how the guest discount and preferred times are applied. Rental clubs and carts are available at the club, and a teaching pro works from the practice area. For a group, the simplest plan is one booking per course on consecutive mornings, then lunch or dinner at the grill.

Lely for snowbirds and buddies groups

Snowbirds. A GreenLinks month puts two public courses within 4-6 minutes of your door by the map's estimate (Flamingo Island 1.2 miles, Mustang 1.8 miles). Add the other East Naples public courses and you have a weekly rotation without long drives. Read Naples winter golf and the snowbird golf schedule for how to build one.

Buddies groups. Flamingo Island one day, Mustang the next, with a 2- or 3-bed villa for a foursome. Book early mornings in January to April, when tee sheets are busiest.

Summer. June to September brings afternoon storms and lightning delays, but the lowest rates, and some GreenLinks units include free golf. Lely's 2026 aerification dates were not published; most courses here close a week or more in summer. See summer golf in Naples.
