Open the 3D map of every course →
RV resorts with golf in the Texas Valley are few: Llano Grande in Mercedes and River Bend near Brownsville are the only parks with a full 18-hole course on site, and Tropic Star in Pharr and Trophy Gardens in Alamo have par-3 nines. Most other Winter Texan parks sit 7 to 20 minutes from a public course.
That still leaves plenty of choice. The Rio Grande Valley has several very large 55+ RV resorts, and the city courses are close to most of them. This guide compares the parks in our research on golf, winter rates and drive times, so you can pick a base that fits how much you want to play.
Quick facts
- 18 holes on site: Llano Grande Resort (Mercedes), River Bend Resort (Brownsville).

- Rates: seen October 26, 2026; several cards are labelled for 2025-26, so ask for the 2026-27 card.

The two parks with an 18 on site
Llano Grande Resort, Mercedes
The biggest golf-on-site option. The resort has more than 300 RV sites plus park models, cottages and apartments for rent, and its own 18-hole, par-72 course at 6,387 yards from the blues. The course is open to the public, with tee times on GolfNow from $18.99 (October 2026) and seasonal and annual memberships for residents (prices on request). There is a pro shop, practice area, and the Double Bogey Bar & Grill by the course.
- RV sites: $58-$90.64 a night, $314.19-$500 a week, $795-$1,395 a month plus metered electric.
- Rentals: $2,889 a month, electric separate; internet, water and trash included.
- Booking: $700 deposit, non-refundable inside 60 days of arrival; $25 registration plus $4.50 transaction fee.
- Also: 3 pools, 3 hot tubs, 12 pickleball courts, leagues and tournaments.
The catch is the course itself: recent reviews complain of bare fairways and uneven greens. Tierra Santa, the best-reviewed mid-Valley course, is 18 minutes away. See the Llano Grande course guide and our Llano Grande golf in Mercedes post.
River Bend Resort, Brownsville
A quiet, gated 55+ community on its own 18-hole course along the Rio Grande west of Brownsville, lined with mature oaks. Some RV sites back onto the course. Only a small number of sites are for rent (Campendium lists 15), and rates come by phone (RV office 956-336-0905, Monday to Friday 9 to 5).
- Golf memberships: 3-month seasonal individual $200 a month plus $100 trail or $150 cart a month; family $300 a month plus $225 trail or $300 cart. Annual individual $150 a month. Range $40 a month.
- Green fees: $38 for 18 on an undated listing; a 2023 review cited $35-$49 with cart.
- Booking golf: the River Bend app or Chronogolf.
- Also: heated pool and hot tub, four pickleball courts, near Resaca de la Palma State Park for birding.
It is about 73 minutes from downtown McAllen, so it suits a Brownsville-side winter. The Rancho Viejo courses are about 16 minutes away. The River Bend course guide has the course details.
Parks with a par-3 on site
Tropic Star (Pharr) has a 9-hole par-3 inside a gated 55+ park of over 900 sites, plus a heated pool and a large ballroom. The par-3's status is unclear in our course research and its fees and access for non-residents are not published, so call first. Its card showed $55 a night or $300 a week with utilities, 1-2 months at $770 a month plus electric, and 3 months at $2,220. Tierra del Sol is 7 minutes away and Champion Lakes 11. Refunds are only within 24 hours of booking.
Trophy Gardens (Alamo) lists its own 9-hole par-3 (fees and access not published; call first) and among the lowest clear season rates found: 3 months $2,025 plus electric, 1-2 months $755 a month. Los Lagos is about 15 minutes away and Champion Lakes about 17. The plans are labelled for 2025-26.
Our par 3 golf in the Rio Grande Valley guide covers the Valley's short courses.
Parks near a public course
If you do not need golf inside the gate, these parks put a city course within a short drive:
- Bentsen Grove, Mission: about 8 minutes from Shary Municipal, the lit 27-hole city course. The cheapest published season packages in the west Valley: standard site 3 months $1,400, 4 months $1,800, 6 months $2,400, plus electric (effective November 1, 2025). Refunds only with written notice before December 1, and guests pay $1 per person per day.
- Alamo Rose, Alamo: about 14 minutes from Tierra del Sol, with 3 months at $1,980 plus electric, the lowest 3-month rate in its group.
- Victoria Palms, Donna: one of the biggest 55+ resorts, with a ballroom and restaurant, 13 minutes from Tierra Santa and 17 from Llano Grande. No public rate card; reviewers note trains behind the park.
- Fun-N-Sun, San Benito: a very large Encore resort with mini golf only, 11 minutes from Tony Butler and 15 from Rancho Viejo. Recent reviews are mixed, and rates are by phone.
- Park Place Estates, Harlingen: a gated 55+ park of over 800 sites on Business 83, about 10 minutes from the Harlingen courses by the park's estimate. It is not on our map.
Pairing a park near Tierra del Sol with its $800 three-month golf package is one of the cheapest golf winters in the Valley. Our Rio Grande Valley golf passes guide has the numbers, and the Tierra del Sol course guide has the course.
What to ask before you book
- Is the 2026-27 rate card out, and does it differ from the one online?
- How is electric metered and billed?
- What are the deposit and refund rules? Several parks refund only within 24 hours of booking.
- For golf on site: can residents buy a seasonal membership, and what does it include?
- Are there one-off fees, such as registration, gate keys or name tags? A 2024 Tropic Star reviewer reported a $15 per person name-tag fee and a $10 gate key fee.
