Rio Grande Valley golf passes are sold by each course; there is no Valley-wide pass. The best deals we found are Tierra del Sol's $800 three-month package in Pharr (a round a day with cart), Shary's $900 annual membership in Mission, and punch cards at Shary, Champion Lakes and Tierra del Sol. Few courses list senior or Winter Texan rates.
If you are here for a month or more, a pass is how you cut the cost per round. This guide lists every pass, membership and punch card in our October 2026 research, with the maths for when each one pays off.

Courses with memberships but no published price
Some Rio Grande Valley golf passes exist only as a line on a listing. Call these pro shops for current prices.
- Llano Grande (Mercedes): pay as you play, or seasonal and annual memberships. Prices on request from the pro shop.
- Tierra Santa (Weslaco): a January 2023 visitor mentioned a player card and 6-month memberships. The current program and price are not confirmed.
- South Padre Island Golf Club (Laguna Vista): memberships offered, prices not on the rate page.
- Rancho Viejo (El Diablo and El Angel): WinterTexanInfo lists winter golf packages and winter golf schools at the resort's two courses, but no prices are published.
- Tony Butler (Harlingen): memberships exist. One member reported about $1,450 a year in fees in a news report whose year is not shown, so treat it as dated.
- Monte Cristo (Edinburg): a January 2026 reviewer paid a $100 annual membership and then under $14 for 18 with a cart on promotional rates. That is one review, not a posted rate, and visitor access should be confirmed by phone.
- Champion Lakes: membership and league pages exist, but prices were not read. A past city report said new annual memberships were capped with a waiting list.
When a pass pays off
With any of the Rio Grande Valley golf passes, the rule is simple: divide the pass price by the rounds you will really play, and compare with the daily rate.
Tierra del Sol 3-month package ($800). The daily rate with a cart is $41. The package pays for itself after 20 rounds, about two rounds a week over three months. At 60 rounds it is about $13 a round. For a couple at $1,200 it pays off after about 15 rounds each. The Tierra del Sol course guide has the full rate card.
Shary 20-round card (about $400). About $20 a round against $21 walking, so the saving is small. Its value is mainly convenience and the price lock. The $900 annual membership beats daily walking rates after about 43 rounds. See the Shary course guide.
Champion Lakes Smart Card ($561). About $28 a round against the $33 walking rate, a saving of about $5 a round. With 18 months to use it, it works even for a two-month winter if you come back the next year. Carts are $14 per person on top.
River Bend seasonal ($200 a month plus cart). With the $150 cart fee, that is $350 a month for an individual. A 2023 review cited green fees of $35-$49 with a cart, so the membership pays off at roughly 7 to 10 rounds a month. Confirm current green fees, since none are posted. The River Bend course guide covers the course.
Senior and Winter Texan rates
Most Valley courses do not publish senior or Winter Texan discounts, which is why Rio Grande Valley golf passes and cards matter more than age-based rates here. Tierra del Sol and Champion Lakes both state none. The one published senior figure is Shary's annual membership at $825 on the rate sheet. Ask anyway at every pro shop, and ask your RV park whether it has a group arrangement; the Tony Butler general manager was reported to be considering RV-park group discounts, though that report is undated.
Cheaper rounds without a pass
If you are here for a week or two, skip passes and use the time-of-day rates:
- Champion Lakes: $37 with cart from 2 PM (3 PM in daylight saving time); afternoon couples $30 for two and family $25, including cart, from 4 PM standard time.
- Tierra del Sol: $28 with cart from 2 PM; replay with cart $20.
- South Padre Island Golf Club: $50 Monday to Thursday from 2 PM; $55 Friday to Sunday from 1 PM.
- Tierra Santa: a reviewer reported $35 twilight with cart from 3 PM (undated).
- Llano Grande: GolfNow times from $18.99.
Our cheap golf in the Rio Grande Valley guide and Rio Grande Valley golf rates list every fee.
Private carts and trail fees
Many Winter Texans bring their own cart. Trail fees seen in October 2026:
| Course | Trail fee |
|---|---|
| Shary | $11 a day |
| Champion Lakes | $8 a round or $550 a year |
| Tierra del Sol | $100 a month or $200 for 3 months |
| River Bend | $100 a month (seasonal individual) |
Choosing your passes for a winter
A common mix of Rio Grande Valley golf passes for a west-Valley base: Tierra del Sol's 3-month package as the home course, plus a Shary or Champion Lakes card for variety and night or twilight golf. For an east-Valley base, look at River Bend's seasonal membership and ask Rancho Viejo about its winter golf packages. Our guides to Winter Texan golf and the snowbird golf schedule show how the pieces fit, and municipal golf courses in the Rio Grande Valley compares the city courses. If you split winters with Arizona, see Yuma golf passes.
Plan it on the map
Open the Rio Grande Valley golf map to see which pass courses are closest to your base. The $30 plan can cover a whole winter stay with a weekly rotation, and it tells you which passes and punch cards pay off for the number of rounds you plan to play.

Questions golfers ask
Is there a golf pass that covers the whole Rio Grande Valley?
No. Searches on October 26, 2026 found no Valley-wide multi-course pass, golf trail or shared punch card. Passes are sold course by course, as annual green fees, memberships, player cards and season packages.
What is the best value golf pass in the Rio Grande Valley?
For daily golf, Tierra del Sol in Pharr: $800 for three months for a single or $1,200 for a couple, one round a day with a cart. For two or three rounds a week, Shary's 20-round card at about $400 (undated rate sheet) works out near $20 a round. Rates change, so confirm.
Can I buy a 1-month golf pass in the Valley in January?
Not at Tierra del Sol, where the $350 1-month single with cart is sold April to December only. In January to March you need its 3-month package. No other course publishes a 1-month pass.
Do Valley courses have senior golf rates?
Few do. Shary's rate sheet showed a senior annual membership at $825 against $925 for a single. Tierra del Sol and Champion Lakes list no senior or Winter Texan rate.
How does the Champion Lakes Smart Card work?
It is 20 rounds for $561, which the course describes as 15 percent off, and it expires after 18 months. That is about $28 a round against the $33 walking rate. Cart fees of $14 per person for 18 are separate.
Does River Bend sell a winter golf membership?
Yes. The 3-month seasonal membership was $200 a month for an individual plus a $100 trail fee or $150 cart fee per month, or $300 a month for a family plus $225 trail or $300 cart (seen October 2026; rates change). Annual memberships and a $40 monthly range pass are also sold.
Are private carts allowed with a pass?
At several city courses, yes, for a trail fee. Shary charges $11 a day, Champion Lakes $8 a round or $550 a year, and Tierra del Sol $100 a month or $200 for three months.
