Courses
- Brownsville Golf Center, Brownsville: public, 18 holes, par 70, 6144 yards. Brownsville's cheap city 18, being refreshed in 2026. A fine Winter Texan regular round. No posted rates, so call.
- Champion Lakes Golf Course, McAllen: public, 18 holes, par 72, 6748 yards, green fees seen $33–$47. McAllen's city course and the Valley's busiest Winter Texan league venue. $33 to walk, $47 with a cart, $37 twilight with cart. Solid and central rather than special.
- Ebony Hills Golf Course, Edinburg: public, 9 holes, par 35, 3022 yards, rating 67.7 / slope 107. Edinburg's historic 9-holer, cheap and popular with Winter Texans. A new clubhouse is being built through mid-2027.
- Harlingen Country Club, Palm Valley: private, 18 holes, par 72, 6541 yards. Private. Only reachable through a member or a reciprocal arrangement from your home club.
- Llano Grande Golf Course, Mercedes: resort, 18 holes, par 72, 6781 yards, green fees seen $18–$18. A budget resort course for the Llano Grande RV community, under $20 on GolfNow. Conditions draw complaints.
- Los Lagos Golf Course, Edinburg: public, 18 holes, par 72, 7188 yards, rating 74.2 / slope 132, green fees seen $26–$26. The longest and toughest public layout on the west side, a von Hagge water course. Recent upkeep reviews are weak; new Troon management from late 2026 may change that.
- McAllen Country Club, McAllen: private, 18 holes, par 71, 6528 yards, rating 67.4 / slope 115. Private club, not an option for visitors without a member or reciprocal arrangement.
- Monte Cristo Golf & Country Club, Edinburg: semi-private, 18 holes, par 71, 6392 yards, rating 70.2 / slope 122. A well-liked lakes course in a 55+ community north of Edinburg, reportedly very cheap with an annual membership. Confirm visitor access by phone.
- Rancho Viejo Resort & Country Club - El Angel, Rancho Viejo: resort, 18 holes, par 70, 6301 yards, rating 71.5 / slope 120, green fees seen $40–$40. The friendlier of Rancho Viejo's two 18s. Short at par 70 and a sensible pick for seniors and mixed groups. Confirm the price by phone.
- Rancho Viejo Resort & Country Club - El Diablo, Rancho Viejo: resort, 18 holes, par 72, 6847 yards, rating 73.7 / slope 129, green fees seen $37–$45. The harder of Rancho Viejo's pair: narrow, watery and long. The best test near Brownsville. Rates and booking terms are not posted online, so call first.
- River Bend Resort & Golf Club, Brownsville: public, 18 holes, green fees seen $38–$38. A riverside public course with its own RV lots, a natural base for a Brownsville winter. Book through the club app. Call for rates, since none are posted.
- Shary Municipal Golf Course, Mission: public, 27 holes, par 71, 6025 yards, green fees seen $21–$34. Mission's city course: 27 flat holes, about $21 to walk 18, and lit for night play until 11 PM tee times. A cheap, busy Winter Texan staple rather than a destination.
- South Padre Island Golf Club, Laguna Vista: semi-private, 18 holes, par 72, 6931 yards, green fees seen $50–$79. The only course near South Padre Island and the default round for an island trip. Pricier than the Harlingen and Brownsville courses. The twilight rates are the value play.
- Tierra Del Sol Golf Course, Pharr: public, 18 holes, par 72, 6827 yards, green fees seen $26–$41. Pharr's city course: $41 with a cart, and the Valley's clearest seasonal packages ($800 for three months of daily golf). Book online.
- Tierra Santa Golf Club, Weslaco: public, 18 holes, par 72, 7139 yards, rating 73.6 / slope 124, green fees seen $24–$35. The pick of the mid-Valley public courses: a 1997 Brauer/Elkington layout, well reviewed, with GolfNow times from about $24.
- Tony Butler Golf Course, Harlingen: public, 27 holes, par 71, green fees seen $36–$36. Harlingen's 27-hole city course and a Winter Texan staple. Cheap, flat and busy in season. Confirm the current rate and how tee times are handed out before you go.
- Treasure Hills Golf Club, Harlingen: public, 18 holes, par 72, 6960 yards, rating 74.8 / slope None, green fees seen $40–$40. Harlingen's other public 18 and the longer, tougher test in town. Check rates and conditions before booking, because the club has been on the sale market.
