The key number: Canadian snowbirds in Laughlin: getting there, the clocks and where to stay

Canadian snowbirds in Laughlin usually fly into Las Vegas, about 99 miles away, or drive down I-15. Most winter on the Arizona side in Bullhead City, Fort Mohave or Lake Havasu City, where RV parks publish monthly rates. Plan around two clocks: Arizona runs one hour ahead of Laughlin from November 1, 2026 to March 14, 2027.

Laughlin is a small Nevada casino town on the Colorado River, facing Bullhead City, Arizona across the bridge. Winter visitors from western Canada, the US Midwest and the Pacific Northwest fill the RV resorts from Bullhead City to Lake Havasu every January to March. This guide covers what a Canadian snowbird needs to plan: flights, the drive, the clocks, where to stay and how to keep golf affordable over a long stay. All prices were seen in October 2026 and will change.

Quick facts

  • Main airport: Las Vegas (LAS), about 99 miles and a 2 hour 19 minute free-flow drive from Laughlin.
  • Nonstops to LAS: Calgary (daily), Edmonton (6 days a week), Vancouver (daily), Winnipeg (Monday and Thursday).
  • Local airport: IFP in Bullhead City mainly handles casino charters; no scheduled service was confirmed for winter 2026-27.

No nonstop from Saskatoon or Regina to Las Vegas appeared, and no Flair nonstop showed on any of these routes. Saskatchewan travellers can look at Phoenix: our research lists WestJet from Saskatoon to Phoenix on Thursdays and Sundays. Phoenix suits Lake Havasu City better than Laughlin, at about 205 miles to Havasu and 228 miles to Laughlin on free-flow estimates.

The Laughlin/Bullhead airport (IFP) sits across the river from the casinos, but it mainly handles casino charter flights sold as air-and-room packages. Check with a casino's players club or package desk before counting on it. Our guide to flights to Laughlin compares LAS, PHX and the charters in more detail, and Las Vegas to Laughlin covers the drive from the airport over the mountains.

Driving down from Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan

Many snowbirds bring an RV or a car for the season. From Alberta, the usual route is I-15 south through Montana, Idaho and Utah to Las Vegas, then US-95 south and NV-163 east to Laughlin. Our Yuma research put Calgary to Yuma at about 23.5 hours on that route, and Laughlin is roughly 3.5 to 4 hours short of Yuma. That difference is an estimate, not a measured drive time.

Winter weather in Montana, Idaho and Utah can slow or close I-15, so leave slack in the schedule. If you are weighing Laughlin against a warmer stop further south, Calgary to Yuma by car covers the full drive.

Two clocks: Pacific in Laughlin, Arizona across the bridge

This is the local problem that catches every new snowbird. Laughlin (Nevada) and Needles (California) use Pacific time with daylight saving. Bullhead City, Fort Mohave, Mohave Valley and Lake Havasu City are in Arizona, which keeps Mountain Standard Time all year. From November 1, 2026 to March 14, 2027, Arizona is one hour ahead: 9:00 AM in Bullhead City is 8:00 AM on Casino Drive.

Canada adds a third clock. Our research notes that British Columbia has stayed on UTC-7 since March 8, 2026, so Vancouver matches Arizona all year. Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatchewan are on UTC-6, one hour ahead of Arizona all year.

For golf, each course keeps its own state's clock. Mojave Resort Golf Club by the Avi and Rivers Edge in Needles run on Pacific time. Laughlin Ranch, Huukan, Los Lagos and the Lake Havasu courses run on Arizona time. Phones near the river can pick up a tower on the other side and show the wrong time, so check your phone's time zone setting. The Laughlin time zone guide has worked examples for tee times.

Keeping winter golf affordable over a long stay

Daily green fees add up over 12 weeks, so look at passes and local rates first.

  • Rivers Edge, Needles: the 2026-27 membership page lists a 3-month pass with cart and range at $1,200, a monthly pass with cart and range at $425 and a monthly walking pass at $285. The 3-month pass works out to about $400 a month. The Rivers Edge course guide covers the layout.

  • Laughlin Ranch: non-residents paid $137-$147 with cart from November 20 to January 31 on the table seen, but local-resident rates of $95-$105 need proof of a local ZIP code. Ask whether your winter address qualifies. The Laughlin Ranch course guide has the full rate bands.
  • Mojave Resort: the KOA next door says its guests get discounted green fees, but no amount is published.

Our winter golf passes guide lists every pass and membership in the research.

When to arrive and how long to stay

November is a strong month to start: a 74.1F average high, dry weather and fresh rye turf, with rates usually below the January to March peak. December mornings are the coldest of the year at about 44F. December to March bring most of the year's small amount of rain, with about 1 inch in each of January and February over 3 to 4 days. March averages 77.4F and is the last full month of the winter-visitor season, and the clocks match again from March 14, 2027.

Avoid arriving in early October if golf is the point. Many courses close for two to three weeks between mid-September and mid-October to overseed. The Laughlin winter golf guide explains how a full season of river golf fits together.

Questions golfers ask

What is the best airport for Canadian snowbirds going to Laughlin?

Las Vegas (LAS). WestJet flies nonstop daily from Calgary, six days a week from Edmonton and twice a week from Winnipeg, and WestJet and Air Canada fly daily from Vancouver. From the LAS rental car center to Laughlin is about 99 miles, a 2 hour 19 minute free-flow estimate.

Can I fly from Canada straight into Laughlin?

Not on a scheduled flight that we could confirm. The Laughlin/Bullhead airport (IFP) mainly handles casino charter flights sold as air-and-room packages, and no scheduled airline service was confirmed for winter 2026-27. Ask the casinos if a charter flies from your area.

What time zone is Laughlin in compared with Alberta and BC?

Laughlin is on Pacific time. From Nov 1, 2026 to Mar 14, 2027, Vancouver matches Arizona and is one hour ahead of Laughlin, while Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatchewan are one hour ahead of Arizona all year, so two hours ahead of Laughlin in winter.

How much does a winter RV site cost near Laughlin?

Seen October 2026: Vista Del Sol RV Resort in Bullhead City listed $1,061 to $1,200 a month for January to March 2027, the Avi Casino KOA from $786 a month, and Havasu Falls RV Resort $800 a month plus electric for November and December. Rates change, so confirm when you book.

Is there a golf pass for a winter stay?

Yes, at some courses. Rivers Edge in Needles sells a 3-month pass with cart and range for $1,200, and Lake Havasu Golf Club sells seasonal memberships from $1,125 for one month to $2,525 for three months for an individual. Laughlin Ranch offers local-resident rates with proof of a local ZIP code.

When should Canadian snowbirds arrive in Laughlin?

November is a good start: highs average 74.1F, courses are on fresh rye and rates sit below the January to March peak. Many courses close for overseed between mid-September and mid-October, so an early October arrival can find some of them shut.

Can I drive from Calgary to Laughlin in winter?

Yes. The usual route is I-15 south through Montana, Idaho and Utah to Las Vegas, then US-95 and NV-163 to Laughlin. Our research puts Laughlin roughly 3.5 to 4 hours short of a 23.5 hour Calgary to Yuma drive, but that is an estimate, and winter weather can slow or close I-15.
