Cover: Laughlin winter golf: how a snowbird season on the river works

Laughlin winter golf runs from November to April, with the peak from January to March, when snowbirds fill the RV resorts and rentals from Bullhead City to Lake Havasu City. Expect afternoons in the 60s and 70s, overseeded rye, cold mornings and two time zones. A month in an RV site starts around $786, and season passes cut green fees.

This guide explains how a season of Laughlin winter golf fits together: weather, courses, clocks, where to stay, what passes exist and how to plan a weekly rotation.

  • Weather: Laughlin highs about 64F in December and January, 77F in March; lows about 44F to 51F.

These are NOAA 1991-2020 normals at Laughlin and Lake Havasu City. The odd washout is possible in January and February, when Laughlin averages about an inch of rain over 3 to 4 days. December's short days squeeze tee sheets into late morning and midday.

Overseed: when the courses are ready

Most river courses are bermuda, which goes brown in the cool months, so they overseed with rye each fall and stay green from about October to May. Closures usually fall between mid-September and mid-October, but some run later. In 2026, Chaparral in Bullhead City was closed for reseeding through November 10, and Desert West at Lake Havasu Golf Club had no public tee times from October 28 to November 5.

For Laughlin winter golf, the overseed matters mainly at the start: if you arrive in early November, check each course. November brings new rye turf at most of them. The Laughlin golf overseed guide lists every window.

The two clocks

This is the local quirk that catches snowbirds out. Laughlin (Nevada) and Needles (California) use Pacific time. Bullhead City, Fort Mohave, Mohave Valley, Kingman and Lake Havasu City are in Arizona, with no daylight saving.

From November 1, 2026 to March 14, 2027, Arizona is one hour ahead of Laughlin: 9:00 AM in Bullhead City is 8:00 AM across the bridge on Casino Drive. Mojave Resort Golf Club by the Avi and Rivers Edge in Needles keep Pacific-time tee sheets; the Arizona courses keep Arizona time. Phones near the river can pick up a tower on the other side and show the wrong time, so check your phone's time zone.

For Canadians: British Columbia has stayed on UTC-7 since March 8, 2026, so Vancouver matches Arizona all year. Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatchewan are one hour ahead of Arizona all year. See the Laughlin time zone guide.

Where snowbirds stay

Most long-stay visitors pick an RV resort or a furnished monthly rental. Prices below were seen in October 2026; rates change.

Vista Del Sol also sells a 3-month October to December package at $2,289 standard and a 2-month November to December package at $1,695; no January to March package was listed. For the Arizona-side parks in detail, see Bullhead City RV resorts.

Laughlin's casino hotels are another option for shorter stays: aggregator data put weeknights around $55 and weekends around $93 (seen October 2026), plus nightly resort fees of roughly $18 to $27 at most casinos.

Season passes and memberships

The best Laughlin winter golf value comes from passes. What the files show for 2026-27:

  • Rivers Edge, Needles: 3-month pass with cart and range $1,200; monthly with cart and range $425; monthly walking $285; annual with cart $1,850. The 3-month pass works out to about $400 a month.
  • Lake Havasu Golf Club: seasonal memberships from $1,125 (one month) to $3,425 (six months) individual, $1,625 to $4,625 for a couple. A VIP card ($209, or $189 in September) cuts public rates, such as $94 to $75 before noon on Desert West. Membership terms such as carts were not published.
  • Laughlin Ranch: local-resident rates of $95 to $105 in winter and peak need proof of a local ZIP code; ask whether your winter address qualifies. Non-residents pay $137 to $169 from November to April on the 2027 table.

Few other courses publish season deals, and no snowbird punch cards were found. The winter golf passes guide has the details.

Setting up a weekly rotation

Laughlin winter golf works best as a rotation that mixes a pass course with pay-as-you-go rounds. Some building blocks:

  • Cheap and short: the Riverview par-3 nine in Bullhead City sold public times at $10 to $13 in late October 2026.
  • Budget 18: Los Lagos in Fort Mohave showed rounds from $30.99 on GolfPass (undated).
  • Gentle 18: Huukan Golf Club, the former Desert Lakes; rates not published.
  • The splurge: Laughlin Ranch, 7,155 yards and a 143 slope, at $137 on winter weekdays (November 20 to January 31).
  • A Havasu week: Desert West, Desert East and Iron Wolf, the former Refuge.

Book morning tee times well ahead in January to March. The snowbird golf schedule guide sets out a full week. Course pages: the Rivers Edge course guide, the Laughlin Ranch course guide and the Desert West course guide.

Getting there and the winter calendar

Most visitors fly to Las Vegas, about 139 minutes from Laughlin. Google Flights showed WestJet nonstops from Calgary (daily) and Edmonton (six days a week), WestJet and Air Canada from Vancouver (daily), and WestJet from Winnipeg (Monday and Thursday). From Alberta, the usual drive is I-15 south to Las Vegas, then US-95 and NV-163; winter weather can slow or close I-15. See Canadian snowbirds in Laughlin.

Dates that affect a winter stay: Thanksgiving and Christmas-New Year weeks are busy; the Havasu Balloon Festival runs January 21-24, 2027; March brings spring break crowds to Lake Havasu City; and late April has the Mayhem Motorcycle Rally in Bullhead City.
