The Orange Beach Golf Center par 3 course is the City of Orange Beach's nine-hole course and lighted driving range, the only golf actually in Orange Beach. Nine holes cost $15 walking or $20 with a cart, flat all year (seen October 2026), there are no tee times, and the range stays open until 9 PM at $5 a bucket.
If you are traveling with kids, getting a beginner started, or just want to hit balls after dinner, this is the place. This guide covers the course, the range, fees, hours, memberships and how it fits into an Orange Beach or Gulf Shores golf trip.

What is the Orange Beach Golf Center par 3 course like?
It is a municipal 9-hole par-3 course, flat and close to sea level. The city does not publish a scorecard, designer or opening year, and par 27 is inferred from "9-hole par-3." Measured from the hole outlines on our map, the holes run roughly 75 to 175 yards and total under 1,000 yards. Only one hole is near the long end; most are wedge or short-iron shots.
That makes it ideal for:
- Kids and beginners who would slow down a regulation course.
- Families who want to play together without pressure.
- Short-game practice for regular golfers between rounds.
- A quick nine on an arrival or departure day.
It is not a substitute for a regulation round. For that, the nearest courses are in Gulf Shores and on the Florida side; our Orange Beach golf courses guide lays them out.
How much does the Orange Beach Golf Center par 3 cost?
City rates, seen October 22, 2026. The city says they are flat all year.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| 9 holes, walking | $15 |
| 9 holes, with cart | $20 |
| 18 holes, walking | $25 |
| 18 holes, with cart | $30 |
| Each extra 9 | $10 |
| Range bucket (34 balls) | $5 |
| Pull cart | $3 |
| Rental clubs, adult / youth | $25 / $10 |
| Electric cart, members | $11 |
A family of four walking nine holes pays $60, and with two youth rental sets $80. That is less than one morning round at most Gulf Shores golf courses.
Annual memberships
Walking is free for members.
| Membership | Price |
|---|---|
| Orange Beach resident, annual | $250 |
| Non-resident, annual | $350 |
| Non-resident, 3 months | $250 |
| Age 18 and under, annual | $50 |
The three-month non-resident option is the interesting one for winter visitors: at $15 a walking nine, it pays for itself in about 17 visits. Our snowbird golf in Gulf Shores guide puts it next to the regulation-course winter cards.
The lighted range
The range is the other half of the Orange Beach Golf Center, and for many visitors the more useful half.
- Hours: 7 AM to 9 PM, lighted. The city's Summer 2026 note said the range opens at 10 AM on Tuesdays.
- Tees: 30 grass tees plus 10 covered mat tees, so you can hit in light rain or out of the sun.
- Price: $5 for a 34-ball bucket.
- Short game: practice putting and chipping greens and a practice bunker.
It is the only range in our data listed as lighted. In summer, when Pensacola-area highs average about 87 to 89°F from June to August and storms hit on 11 to 13 days a month, an evening bucket after the heat breaks is the comfortable way to practice. See our summer golf in Gulf Shores guide for working around the heat.
How does it compare with other short courses and ranges?

Orange Beach Golf Center is the cheapest and simplest of the group, and the only true par-3 course near the beach. ONE CLUB is a short executive nine off Hwy 59 in Gulf Shores with par 4s and a par 5, and Gulf Links in Foley is an executive 18 with a range. If your beginner is ready for a full course, the GlenLakes Lakes nine (water on six holes) is a natural next step; see the GlenLakes course guide.
Is the Orange Beach Golf Center par 3 good for families?
Yes, and that is its main job. What makes it work for families:
- Walking is allowed, so kids can carry or push a pull cart ($3).
- No tee times means no pressure on pace from a booked group behind you.
- Youth rentals are $10, so you don't need to fly kids' clubs in.
- Lessons and camps run through the pro shop.
- The range is lit, so after-dinner sessions work when the kids are restless.
For grown-up couples, it is also a low-stakes place for a non-golfing partner to try the game. Our couples golf trip to Gulf Shores guide has more on mixed-ability trips.
How do you get there?
The course is off Canal Road (Hwy 180), about 1.25 miles east of the Foley Beach Express. Drive times below are free-flow road estimates without traffic.

Getting a beginner started
The pro shop runs lessons and camps; schedules and prices are not published, so call 251-981-4653. A sensible path for a new golfer on an Orange Beach AL vacation:
- Range first. A $5 bucket of 34 balls on the covered mats is a cheap first session, rain or shine.
- Short game next. The putting and chipping greens and the practice bunker are part of the facility.
- Then the nine. Walk the par-3 course for $15. With no tee times, nobody is waiting on your group's first round.
- Then a longer nine. The GlenLakes Lakes nine (par 35, 3,065 yards) or ONE CLUB's executive nine are the next step before a regulation 18.
For juniors who will come back, the $50 annual membership for ages 18 and under includes free walking, so a teenager spending a summer in Orange Beach can play as often as they like.
When is the best time to play the Orange Beach Golf Center par 3?
Any time: the city keeps it open daily with the same flat rate all year. Weather is the variable. NOAA 1991-2020 normals for Pensacola NAS, the nearest coastal station, plus average wind at Jack Edwards Airport in Gulf Shores:
| Month | High | Low | Rain days | Wind |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January | 61°F | 42°F | 9 | 7.1 mph |
| March | 69°F | 50°F | 8 | 7.8 mph |
| April | 75°F | 57°F | 7 | 7.6 mph |
| July | 89°F | 74°F | 13 | 5.1 mph |
| October | 79°F | 60°F | 7 | 6.1 mph |
| December | 64°F | 45°F | 8 | 6.4 mph |
On short par 3s, wind matters more than heat. March is the breeziest month, so expect to club up. July to September is the calmest stretch but the hottest, which is when the lighted range at night earns its keep.
How to fit it into a Gulf Shores golf trip
- Arrival day: fly into Pensacola, check in, and hit a $5 bucket under the lights before dinner.
- Rest day: walk nine with the family for $15 a person, then go to the beach.
- Before a big round: warm up the wedges here instead of paying for range balls at the course.
- Late evening: the course closes at 5 PM, but the range runs until 9 PM.
Course turf and overseed practice are not published.
