Gulf Shores Golf Spring Break Guide: When the Crowds Hit and How to Play Around Them

For Gulf Shores golf, spring break runs all of March and April, right on top of the busiest golf season. Expect the heaviest non-summer hotel demand, tight weekend tee sheets and Saturday traffic on Hwy 59. Book the far-out tee sheets in the fall, play weekdays, stay inland, and aim for late April or May if you can move.

Below are the 2027 dates we found, when each tee sheet opens for a mid-March round, and what spring break does to prices. Rates were seen in October 2026 and change, so check before you book.

Gulf Shores golf spring break dates for 2027

There is no single week. Gulf Shores and Orange Beach plan for spring break across all of March and April, and tourism officials say an early Easter squeezes more breakers into March. Easter 2027 is Mar 28, which is early.

How crowded is Gulf Shores golf during spring break?

Spring is the main golf season here regardless of spring break. Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism says that in busy spring and fall seasons the best tee times can be hard to come by, and spring has the highest green fees of the year. Spring break piles beach visitors on top of that: high weekend room rates, crowded restaurants and a busy Hwy 59 on Saturdays, with extra police patrols in both cities.

For golfers the fix is the same one that works all spring: book as early as each tee sheet allows, play midweek, and sleep away from the beach strip.

When do Gulf Shores golf spring break tee times open?

Each course opens its public tee sheet a different number of days out. This is when a Monday, Mar 15, 2027 tee time becomes bookable:

Drive times are free-flow estimates from Hwy 59 and Beach Boulevard and don't include traffic.

A few rules change the picture for groups. Perdido Bay lets groups of four or more book further out by contacting the shop. The RTJ Trail sells packages up to 12 months ahead through RTJ Reservations, which is the only way to lock in Lakewood or Magnolia Grove before the 7-day window. Craft Farms and Peninsula don't publish a public window, and Peninsula says its dynamic winter rates (through Mar 31) are lowest for whoever books earliest. How much does golf cost over spring break?

For a Gulf Shores golf spring break in 2027, most beach courses had not posted March and April prices when we checked in October 2026. Here's what was visible:

Two late-winter deals reach into spring break. Craft Farms' Extended Six-Pack ($510 plus tax, about $85 a round) is valid to Mar 31, 2027, but only Sunday to Thursday in March, and orders close Nov 15, 2026. Peninsula's winter pricing also runs to Mar 31.

How to avoid spring break crowds on a golf trip

Play Tuesday to Thursday. TimberCreek's sheet showed the same March morning round $10 cheaper on a Tuesday than a Saturday, and weekend rooms are where spring break pricing bites hardest. Craft Farms' Extended card is limited to Sunday through Thursday in March anyway.

Arrive midweek, not Saturday. Hwy 59 is the classic bottleneck on Saturdays. The Baldwin Beach Express links I-10 to the Foley Beach Express and bypasses most of Hwy 59, and the Foley Beach Express bridge has been toll-free since May 2024. Flying into Pensacola (PNS) for an Orange Beach stay, the route via Perdido Key skips Hwy 59 entirely. More in flying to Gulf Shores for golf.

Stay inland. The beach strip is where spring break lives. The Courtyard at Craft Farms is about 5 minutes from both Craft Farms courses and 6 from Gulf Shores Golf Club. The Hampton Inn Foley is about 11 minutes from GlenLakes, with free breakfast and parking. The Courtyard has only 90 rooms, so book group blocks early for spring.

Go up the Eastern Shore. The Grand Hotel in Point Clear has 36 holes 3 minutes from the lobby and none of the beach scene. Rock Creek in Fairhope is 21 minutes from the Grand. See our Fairhope, Point Clear and Daphne golf guide.

Play late. After Mar 14 the sun sets around 7 PM, so a 2 PM start has plenty of light. Twilight rates at TimberCreek ($59 to $69 after 2 PM) and Perdido Bay ($50 after 3 PM) come with the long evenings.

What spring break does to hotel prices

Weather and daylight over spring break

Temperatures are NOAA 1991-2020 normals for the nearest coastal station; sunrise and sunset are calculated for central Gulf Shores. March averages about 7.8 mph of wind at the Gulf Shores airport, the windiest month of the year, which matters most at exposed Kiva Dunes. April brings about 5 inches of rain over roughly 7 days.

One maintenance note for spring break 2027: Magnolia Grove aerifies the Falls course greens on Mar 8 and the Crossings greens on Mar 15, each with about a week of recovery. If an RTJ day is on your list, plan around those dates.

Is it worth going after spring break instead?

If your dates can move, yes. May averages about 82°F, is the driest month at about 3.2 inches, and sits after spring break and before Memorial Day crowds. Watch the first weekend of May for the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship (May 1-3 in 2026; 2027 dates not yet published) and check whether the Hangout Music Festival returns in May 2027.
