Where to stay in Tucson for golf comes down to four bases: central and west Tucson for the city courses and Starr Pass, the Catalina Foothills for Ventana Canyon and La Paloma, the northwest (Oro Valley and Marana) for the most courses close together, and Green Valley for value winter stays. Pick the base nearest the rounds you care about.
Tucson is spread out. Oro Valley is about 24 minutes from downtown, Green Valley about 34, SaddleBrooke about 45 and Tubac about 55 on our routed estimates. A base on the wrong side of town can add an hour of driving to every round. This guide sorts the stays on our map by area, with drive times measured from each stay.
Quick facts
- Most golf close together: the northwest. From Omni Tucson National you reach six public or resort 18s within about 14 minutes.
- Golf at the door: Starr Pass, Omni Tucson National, Dove Mountain, Casino Del Sol and Tubac.
- Guest-only golf: Ventana Canyon (Loews guests), La Paloma (Westin guests, confirm when booking) and Dove Mountain (Ritz-Carlton guests and members).

- Cheapest monthly furnished rentals: Green Valley, about $1,200 to $3,600 a month in listings seen.

Central and west Tucson
The JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass sits on The Club at Starr Pass, 27 desert canyon holes in the Tucson Mountains about 11 minutes from downtown. The bunkers were rebuilt in 2024, all three nines have new TifEagle greens, and the clubhouse reopened on November 1, 2025. From the hotel, El Rio is 13 minutes and Silverbell 18, so cheap city rounds are close. Budget for a resort fee of $49 a night (Marriott.com) and paid parking. Our Starr Pass course guide has the tee-by-tee numbers.
Casino Del Sol has Sewailo on the grounds, free self and valet parking per OTA listings, and is about 15 minutes from the airport. It suits a buddies trip that wants golf and nightlife. It is not the quiet option.
The Hampton Inn Tucson-Airport is a plain arrival or departure night: free breakfast, parking and an airport shuttle on request, with Randolph North and Dell Urich 15 minutes away.
For RV snowbirds, Rincon Country West is the big 55+ park on this side, 11 minutes from Starr Pass and 13 from El Rio, with no golf on site.
The Catalina Foothills
Stay here for the two Tom Fazio courses at Ventana Canyon, which members share with resort guests. Loews Ventana Canyon Resort is 5 minutes from the Ventana Canyon Mountain Course and its sister Canyon Course. The two alternate daily between member and resort play, so check which one is in the resort rotation on your dates; the Ventana Canyon Mountain course guide has more. Loews charges a resort fee of $39 plus tax a night, which includes self-parking.
The Westin La Paloma is next to La Paloma Country Club, a private Jack Nicklaus 27. Older sources say resort guests can book tee times, but the 2026 guest policy was not confirmed, so ask when you book the room. Parking is charged nightly.
The trade-off is distance. From Loews, Green Valley courses are more than an hour away and Starr Pass 39 minutes.
Oro Valley, Marana and the northwest
This is the busiest golf corner of Tucson. Omni Tucson National Resort has two 18s on site: the Catalina Course, the old tour course, and the shorter par-70 Sonoran Course. From the Omni, Crooked Tree is 8 minutes, Quarry Pines 11 and the town-owned El Conquistador Conquistador Course 12. Self-parking was free per Omni's 2026 group page.
El Conquistador Tucson, A Hilton Resort sits on Oracle Road under Pusch Ridge. Its two 18s are off-site at the town's country club, 9 to 10 minutes away, so confirm guest golf rates with the club.
The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain is the splurge. It is the only way for a visitor to play The Golf Club at Dove Mountain, the Nicklaus 27 that hosted the WGC Match Play. Tee times are for members and Ritz-Carlton guests only. Expect a resort charge of about $68.73 a night (OTA listings) and $42 a day valet-only parking, and a drive of 40 minutes or more to the airport. The neighbouring Gallery North and Gallery South courses are private and not open to visitors.
For value, the Holiday Inn Express Oro Valley is 9 minutes from El Conquistador and from The Views, and the Holiday Inn Express Tucson North - Marana is 2 minutes from Quarry Pines and fits trucks and trailers. Both list free breakfast and parking.
Winter renters here look at Oro Valley furnished monthly rentals, about $4,250 a month November to March for one home seen, or SaddleBrooke seasonal rentals, where renters could buy a $580-a-month unlimited pass at SaddleBrooke Country Club in the 2026 golf year. Our Green Valley vs Oro Valley guide compares the two for a winter.
Green Valley and Tubac
Green Valley is 34 minutes south of downtown on I-19 and is built for long stays. The Best Western Green Valley Inn is 5 minutes from Haven, 10 from Torres Blancas, 13 from San Ignacio and 14 from Canoa Ranch. Those four are public, and summer GolfNow deals at Torres Blancas ran under $25 with a cart.
For a month or more, Green Valley furnished monthly rentals ran about $1,200 to $3,600 a month in listings seen, the cheapest monthly market in the area. January and February units go early. Quail Creek seasonal rentals cut Quail Creek green fees from $130 to $84 for 18 in prime season, cart extra. RVers can call Green Valley RV Resort, which publishes no prices.
Tubac Golf Resort & Spa is about 55 minutes south of downtown and 20 minutes south of Green Valley. It has 27 holes at Tubac Golf Resort, but the Anza nine is closed for new greens until about January 2027, so everyone plays Rancho and Otero this fall. The resort sells stay-and-play packages; check rates for your dates. Our Tubac golf resort guide covers it in full.
What hotel rates look like
We could not capture live dated room rates at any of the resorts or hotels. Brand booking engines and travel sites blocked fetching on October 26, 2026, so nightly prices are unknown here. Check the hotel directly for your dates. What we could read are the add-ons:
| Stay | Resort fee | Parking |
|---|---|---|
| Loews Ventana Canyon | $39 + tax | Self-parking included; valet $25 + tax |
| JW Marriott Starr Pass | $49 (Marriott.com) | Self about $14 a day per one OTA (confirm) |
| Westin La Paloma | Not confirmed for 2026 | Self about $19 to $21 (confirm) |
| Omni Tucson National | About $32.49 (one OTA, unconfirmed) | Self free per Omni; valet $15 |
| Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain | About $68.73 (OTAs) | Valet only, $42 a day |
| Tubac Golf Resort | About $31.98 (package site), includes parking | Included |
Rates and fees change. February is the hardest month for rooms because of the gem and mineral shows (about January 27 to February 14, 2027), so book early or base in Oro Valley, Marana or Green Valley. See Tucson golf resorts compared and which Tucson golf resort is worth it.
Which base fits which trip
- Three to five days, resort golf: the northwest. Omni gives you 36 holes without driving, with Crooked Tree and El Conquistador close by.
- Fazio desert golf you cannot book elsewhere: Loews Ventana Canyon.
- Bucket-list splurge: the Ritz-Carlton, the only way into Dove Mountain without a member.
- Budget buddies trip: a Holiday Inn Express in Marana or Oro Valley, playing Quarry Pines, Crooked Tree and El Conquistador.
- A winter of golf: Green Valley or SaddleBrooke. Our Tucson winter golf guide and Green Valley winter rentals explain how a season works.

Questions golfers ask
What is the best area to stay in Tucson for golf?
It depends on the courses you want. The northwest (Omni Tucson National, Marana, Oro Valley) has the most public and resort golf within 20 minutes. The Foothills suit golfers who want Ventana Canyon, which you reach through Loews; La Paloma guest access was not confirmed for 2026. Green Valley is the value base for long stays.
Which Tucson hotels have golf on site?
JW Marriott Starr Pass (27 holes), Omni Tucson National (36 holes), The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain (27 holes), Casino Del Sol (Sewailo) and Tubac Golf Resort (27 holes, 18 open until about January 2027). Loews Ventana Canyon gives guests tee times at the club next door; Westin La Paloma guest golf at the private La Paloma club was not confirmed for 2026.
How much do Tucson golf resorts cost per night?
We could not read live room rates in October 2026; the booking engines blocked us, so the rates are unknown here. Add resort fees on top of the room rate: about $39 plus tax at Loews, $49 at the JW Marriott and about $68.73 at the Ritz-Carlton per OTA listings. Check the hotel directly for your dates.
Can I play Dove Mountain if I stay somewhere else?
No. The Golf Club at Dove Mountain is open to members and guests of The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain. If you are not staying there or playing with a member, it is off the table.
Is Green Valley a good base for a Tucson golf trip?
For a winter stay, yes. Haven is about 7 minutes from the Green Valley monthly rentals and Torres Blancas about 9, and furnished units ran about $1,200 to $3,600 a month in listings seen. For a short resort trip it is far from the Foothills, about 63 minutes to Ventana Canyon.
Where should I stay in Tucson to be near the airport?
The Hampton Inn Tucson-Airport has free parking, breakfast and a 24-hour shuttle on request. Casino Del Sol is about 15 minutes from TUS with Sewailo on the grounds. Both suit the south and west side courses.
Do any Tucson stays come with cheaper golf?
Yes, two winter rentals do. Renting a home in Quail Creek gets you the renter rate of $84 for 18 in prime season instead of $130. SaddleBrooke One sold renters an unlimited Renters Play Pass at $580 a month in its 2026 golf year.
