Tubac Golf Resort is a 27-hole resort on the historic Otero Ranch, about an hour south of downtown Tucson, with an inn of posadas, haciendas and casitas beside the course. Its Otero, Rancho and Anza nines include the Tin Cup hole. Through fall 2026, only Rancho and Otero are open, while Anza's greens are rebuilt until about January 2027.
It is the one true golf resort south of Tucson, quieter and further out than the Foothills resorts. This guide covers the golf, the current closure, what we could find on fees and packages, and how Tubac fits a Green Valley or Tucson trip.

The 27 holes at Tubac Golf Resort
The course sits on the Otero Ranch in the Santa Cruz River valley, with mesquite-lined fairways and mountain views. Otero is the original nine, credited to Red Lawrence. The resort has rebuilt its greens nine by nine, all to Dominator bentgrass:
| Nine | Greens | Status, fall 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Otero | Rebuilt 2023 | Open |
| Rancho | Rebuilt 2024 | Open; No. 4 is the Tin Cup hole |
| Anza | Being rebuilt, October 2026 to about January 2027; holes 6 and 8 rebuilt with new drainage | Closed |
Par and yardage per combination were not published in our research, and no USGA ratings were found.
The Tin Cup hole. Rancho No. 4 is the lay-up hole from the 1996 film. It is the one most visitors ask about, and with only Rancho and Otero open this fall, you should get to play it.
What the closure means. Until Anza reopens, everyone plays Rancho and Otero as the 18, so expect busier tee sheets this fall. Book ahead, and do not plan on 27 holes in a day before January 2027.
Mountain Capital Partners bought the resort in 2026, according to our research.
Who can play and how to book
The course is a resort course that sells public tee times online through TeeItUp, with separate member and Troon booking links. Hotel guests can book stay-and-play packages, and memberships exist through a member tee sheet. No booking window was published.
Practice facilities include a driving range, three practice greens and a putting green. In 2026 the range closed May 19 to 21, the short-game greens May 21 to 22 and the putting green June 10 to 11 for maintenance. No overseed dates were published; most courses in the Tucson area overseed from mid-to-late September into October. See Tucson golf overseed.

The inn
Rooms are spread over low-rise posadas, haciendas and casitas. The resort has the Stables Ranch Grille, a spa, and the course on site. Our take: a ranch-style resort with 27 holes in Tubac village, quieter than the Foothills resorts, but about an hour from downtown Tucson on our routed estimate.
For a longer winter stay, owner-rented Tubac seasonal casitas sit between the course and the village. They are mostly 1-bedroom units with kitchens; no monthly prices were published, and hosts quote one by one. Whether a casita rental gives any resort golf rate was not found.
Tubac as a base: drive times
| From Tubac Golf Resort to | Drive |
|---|---|
| San Ignacio | 30 min, 17.8 mi |

Routed estimates. From the Best Western Green Valley Inn, Tubac is 30 minutes. A Green Valley base with a Tubac day once a week works well; see our Green Valley AZ golf guide.
South of Tubac, check before you go. Rio Rico Golf Club's status is unclear, with conflicting reports and no 2026 tee times found, so call first. Kino Springs, east of Nogales, closed in 2021.
Things to do around Tubac
Tubac village has galleries and shops beside the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park, on the site of a 1752 Spanish presidio. Tumacacori National Historical Park, with mission church ruins, is about 15 minutes south, and the Anza Trail links it to Tubac, about 4.5 miles. Wisdom's Cafe on the I-19 frontage road near Tumacacori is a long-running lunch stop, though its current status was not verified. Madera Canyon, for birding, is 30 to 40 minutes from Green Valley. See our Tubac day trip guide.
When to go
Tubac has no weather normals in our files; Green Valley's are the closest, at 66.9F highs and 36.1F lows in January and 75.6F and 44.4F in March. Frosty mornings are likely in mid-winter. The Tubac Festival of the Arts is held in February (2027 dates not checked), which adds visitors. Peak season across the area runs January to April.
