Haven is the everyday course for snowbirds who like to walk, and the Haven course guide covers it in detail. San Ignacio's late-October rates ran well above September's; see the San Ignacio course guide.

Green Valley's frost is a real factor. Torres Blancas and Canoa Ranch share a Frost and Heat Index line, 520-352-1082, for same-day open or closed checks on cold mornings. The two private clubs, Desert Hills and the Country Club of Green Valley, are for members, though the Country Club offers partial-year memberships for non-residents, with dues not published. In the Green Valley vs Oro Valley choice, Oro Valley's strength is reach. The northwest public courses, the Omni resort and the SaddleBrooke communities are all within about half an hour, so a week can rotate through more layouts than from Green Valley. Its weakness is that the two private clubs, Oro Valley Country Club and Stone Canyon, are closed to visitors, and no Oro Valley rental seen included golf.

The town-owned Pusch Ridge nine at the El Conquistador resort has a history of closing and reopening, and its 2026-27 season was not confirmed, so its status is unclear: call first. See the El Conquistador course guide and our Oro Valley golf guide.

Rent and lodging

Green Valley has some of the lowest furnished monthly rents we found. Green Valley furnished rentals ran about $1,200 to $3,600 a month in listings seen, with winter at the top. A one-bedroom condo was listed at $1,500 a month for September to December 2026 and March to April 2027, with January and February not offered. That pattern is common: January and February go early.

A Green Valley Recreation tenant card opens the recreation centres, pools and pickleball, but not golf. The owner must file GVR's tenant form, and tenants cannot buy annual cards. For RVers, the Green Valley RV Resort is a 55+ community of 304 spaces, with prices by phone only.

Quail Creek is the exception on golf. Renting a home inside Quail Creek gets renter rates at the club, $84 for 18 in prime season against $130 for non-residents, and lets you buy the same annual memberships as residents.

Oro Valley costs more, and rent is the biggest money gap in Green Valley vs Oro Valley. One Oro Valley furnished rental near Oro Valley Country Club was about $4,250 a month from November to March and $3,250 from April to October. Vistoso Resort Casitas offers condos with monthly minimums, priced on request.

For scouting trips, the Best Western Green Valley Inn sits at I-19 Exit 65, and the Holiday Inn Express Oro Valley is on Oracle Road minutes from El Conquistador. Our Green Valley winter rentals guide goes deeper.

Green Valley vs Oro Valley: which base suits which golfer

  • Choose Green Valley if you are 55+, want to walk Haven or play a different public course each day within 15 minutes, want the lowest rent and fly in and out of Tucson International.
  • Choose Oro Valley if you want a shorter drive into Tucson, more course variety within 30 minutes, no age rule and Oracle Road shopping, and the higher rent is fine.
  • Consider SaddleBrooke or Quail Creek if you want golf bundled with the rental. Our SaddleBrooke golf guide explains the renters pass.
