Oro Valley golf means two town-owned public 18s at El Conquistador, a Sun City course that takes daily-fee play, two private clubs and, farther north, the SaddleBrooke community courses. Visitors can book El Conquistador and The Views; Oro Valley CC and Stone Canyon need a member. Fees seen in October 2026 ran about $47 to $86.
The area sits under the Santa Catalinas along Oracle Road, 20 to 50 minutes north of downtown Tucson. It is quieter than the city and colder at dawn, which matters for a winter of golf. This guide covers what you can play, what it costs and where to base.

El Conquistador: the public golf in Oro Valley
The Town of Oro Valley bought El Conquistador from HSL Properties in 2014-15, and in October 2019 the council voted 6-1 to keep both 18s as municipal public courses. Troon manages the club, and members have priority on the tee sheet. Daily-fee players book through the club or GolfNow.
The Conquistador course opened in 1982 and the Canada course in 1985, both by Greg Nash and Jeff Hardin. Both are desert foothills golf under Pusch Ridge. The short version from our research: resort scenery at municipal prices.
One fall caution. On October 27, 2026 the Conquistador course had tee times from 10:19 AM to 3:55 PM, while the Canada course had none. That looks like an overseed rotation, but it was not confirmed. If you are visiting in October, check which course is open before you plan the week. Our Tucson golf overseed guide covers the fall closures.
The 9-hole Pusch Ridge course is a separate story. It closed in 2020 after a failed lease, reopened on November 1, 2021, and the council voted 4-3 in early 2024 to keep golf for three more years. It runs seasonally, about November to April. No 2026-27 opening was confirmed, so its status is unclear and it is not on our map. Call first.
The El Conquistador course guide has more on the main course.
The Views and the private Oro Valley clubs
The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley is the Sun City Oro Valley community course. It sells annual memberships and also takes daily-fee play through GolfNow. From the Black tees it plays 6,687 yards at 72.2/133, with four more sets down to 4,739 yards. Snowbirds renting in Rancho Vistoso can treat it as a home course. See the Views course guide.
Two Oro Valley clubs are not open to visitors:
- Oro Valley Country Club is owned by Invited (formerly ClubCorp), which acquired it from its members around 2014-15. Guests play only with a member.
- The Stone Canyon Club is a private Arcis Golf club with a Jay Morrish course of 7,317 yards at 74.0/145 from the Copper tees. Guests play only when hosted by a member.
Renting a home near Oro Valley CC does not give access unless the owner's membership allows it, and that was not confirmed for any rental we found. Our private golf clubs in Tucson guide covers the rest of the area's private clubs.
The Golf Club at Vistoso, a Tom Weiskopf course, closed on June 1, 2018. It is now a nature preserve, not golf. Older tee-time pages still exist but are stale. See closed golf courses in Tucson.
Catalina and SaddleBrooke golf
North of Oro Valley, Oracle Road climbs toward Catalina and SaddleBrooke, a 55+ community about 45 minutes from downtown. Its courses are run for residents, so public access is limited and changes by club:
- SaddleBrooke Country Club (SaddleBrooke One, 27 holes) publishes annual and monthly memberships and lists public play on GolfNow, but no public rate was found.
- MountainView Golf Club in SaddleBrooke Two reopened in 2023 after a Gary Panks redesign. A July 23, 2026 time was listed at $78.36 with cart; no times were offered for October 27.
- The Preserve Golf Club, also in SaddleBrooke Two, showed no online times in 2026 snapshots. Call 520-825-9022.
SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club, a Robson course in Oracle, sells public times on GolfNow. GolfLink showed $36.19 to $48.19 for October 27, 2026. It is outside our map area.
The best SaddleBrooke deal is for renters: SaddleBrooke One sold a Renters Play Pass at $580 a month in its 2026 golf year, which ended October 31, 2026. The SaddleBrooke golf guide explains who can play.
Nearby courses south and west
Oro Valley golf gets more variety a short drive west. From the El Conquistador Tucson resort, Omni Tucson National's Catalina course is 17 minutes and Crooked Tree is 17. Crooked Tree is a public 18 at 7,065 yards and 72.2/132 that was taking times through overseed in late October 2026. In the Foothills, La Paloma (16 minutes) is a private club, and Ventana Canyon (26 minutes) is for members and guests of the Ventana Canyon resorts.
Weather: frost delays come first
Afternoon highs in Oro Valley match the rest of Tucson, about 67F in January. The nights do not. NOAA normals at Catalina State Park, used as the Oro Valley proxy, give a January low of 30.6F, about 10F colder than the airport's 40.8F, as cold air drains off the mountains.
| Month | Catalina SP high / low | Tucson airport high / low |
|---|---|---|
| November | 75.8F / 37.5F | 75.1F / 47.9F |
| December | 66.3F / 31.0F | 65.5F / 40.5F |
| January | 67.0F / 30.6F | 66.5F / 40.8F |
| February | 68.1F / 32.0F | 69.2F / 43.2F |
| March | 74.8F / 36.4F | 75.8F / 48.0F |
In practice that means frost delays and later first tee times in Oro Valley, Catalina and SaddleBrooke than in central Tucson. Late-morning tee times are the safe choice from December to February. No normals exist for SaddleBrooke itself. Our best time to golf in Tucson guide has the whole year.

Getting to Oro Valley
Tucson International Airport is on the south side, so Oro Valley is a 35 to 50 minute drive from it (estimate). If you fly into Phoenix, the north side is the closer end of Tucson. Oro Valley golf works well paired with Marana and Dove Mountain; see our Marana golf guide.

Which Oro Valley golf courses can visitors play?
The two El Conquistador 18s are town-owned public courses run by Troon, and The Views at Sun City Oro Valley takes daily-fee play through GolfNow. Oro Valley Country Club and The Stone Canyon Club are private, so you need a member.
How much does Oro Valley golf cost?

Is the Golf Club at Vistoso still open?
No. The Weiskopf course at Vistoso suspended operations on June 1, 2018, citing falling play and water costs. A neighbourhood nonprofit raised $1.8 million and a conservation fund took over 202 acres as a nature preserve.
Is the Pusch Ridge nine at El Conquistador open?
Its status for 2026-27 is unclear, so call first. The town runs it seasonally from about November to April, but no 2026-27 opening was confirmed, and a council vote in early 2024 kept golf there for three more years.

NOAA normals at Catalina State Park, on the north edge of Oro Valley, give a January low of 30.6F against 40.8F at Tucson's airport. Afternoon highs are about the same, near 67F. Expect frost delays and later first tee times than in central Tucson.
