Green-fee ranges: Marana golf: Dove Mountain, the Gallery and the public courses off I-10

Marana golf splits into two groups. The Dove Mountain clubs are closed to the public: the Golf Club at Dove Mountain is for Ritz-Carlton guests and members, and the Gallery is private. The open courses are the Highlands at Dove Mountain, Quarry Pines and, just south, Crooked Tree and Omni Tucson National, from about $24 with a cart in summer 2026.

Marana sits along I-10 northwest of Tucson, 19 to 38 minutes from downtown and the closest part of the area to Phoenix. This guide sorts the courses by who can play, then covers fees and where to stay.

Quick facts

  • Ritz-Carlton guests and members only: The Golf Club at Dove Mountain (27 Nicklaus holes).
  • Private: The Gallery Golf Club, North and South courses.
  • Public tee times: The Highlands at Dove Mountain, Quarry Pines; nearby Crooked Tree and Omni Tucson National.

Dove Mountain: resort guests and members

The Golf Club at Dove Mountain is a Jack Nicklaus Signature 27 that opened in 2009 on the Tortolita Mountain slope. Its Saguaro, Tortolita and Wild Burro nines are high Sonoran desert target golf. Escalante Golf owns it with the Gallery and sells the two as one membership, the "Clubs of Dove Mountain", 63 holes in all.

Tee times are open to members and to guests of The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain. Book through the resort's Guest Relations team, the club on 520-572-3500 or the club's tee sheet. Without a room or a member, it is off the table.

From the tournament tees, the Tortolita and Saguaro routing (the old Match Play course) runs 7,849 yards at 77.1/147. Most visitors play Yellow at 6,334. The Dove Mountain golf guide and the Dove Mountain course guide cover it in full.

Both Gallery courses are private, for members and their invited guests. Escalante bought the club in 2016 and made it fully private; before that it rotated one course open to the public.

  • Gallery North, by John Fought and Tom Lehman, opened in 1998 and runs 7,384 yards.
  • Gallery South, by John Fought, runs 7,468 yards. It is firm and links-style and hosted the WGC-Accenture Match Play in 2007 and 2008. Its opening year is given as 2002 or 2003 depending on the source.

Public Marana golf

The Highlands at Dove Mountain

The Highlands at Dove Mountain is the golf club of the Heritage Highlands 55+ community. GolfNow sells public prepaid times, and groups under four are paired. September 2026 hot deals ran $39.99 to $47.99 with a cart, far below its Dove Mountain neighbours. It plays 6,904 yards from the Rattler tees. It was not on the GolfLink list for October 27, 2026, which may mean overseed (unconfirmed).

Quarry Pines

Quarry Pines opened in 2003, built in and around an old quarry west of I-10 near Continental Ranch. It is the cheapest round in Marana: GolfNow had $23.99 in August 2026 and $34.99 for October 20, 2026, cart included, plus a $10 non-refundable deposit and fees. Undated reviews complain of rounds up to five hours, so book early and bring patience. See the Quarry Pines course guide.

Crooked Tree and Omni Tucson National

Just south of Marana, Crooked Tree is a public 18 at mid-range prices: $42.95 to $63.17 for October 27, 2026 on GolfLink. It showed an over-seeding alert on October times but kept taking bookings.

Omni Tucson National has two resort 18s open to the public, carts included. Catalina is the old tour course, 7,262 yards at 75.4/136 from the Blue tees. Sonoran is a par-70 Tom Lehman desert course of 6,529 yards with 69 bunkers. No 2026 rate card was readable. Our Omni Tucson National golf guide has more.

Room rates were not captured; booking engines blocked fetching on October 26, 2026. The Ritz-Carlton is the priciest base in the area and, on our routed times, 38 minutes from downtown Tucson and 49 from the airport-area Hampton Inn. The Holiday Inn Express has free breakfast and parking that fits trucks and trailers. Compare all the bases in where to stay in Tucson for golf.

A Marana golf plan for three days

  • Day 1: Quarry Pines for an easy, cheap start.
  • Day 2: Omni Tucson National, Catalina in the morning; Sonoran if you want 36.
  • Day 3: The Highlands, or Dove Mountain if you are staying at the Ritz-Carlton.

Add El Conquistador in Oro Valley, 18 minutes from the Marana Holiday Inn Express, for a fourth day. See Oro Valley golf.

Season and timing

Most Tucson courses overseed in fall, and Marana is no exception. Expect closures or cart-path-only weeks from mid-to-late September into October; by November the rye is in. January and February mornings are cold across the north side, and El Tour de Tucson on November 21, 2026 brings rolling road closures across Tucson, Marana and Oro Valley much of that Saturday. Our Tucson golf overseed guide has the details.

Marana and Dove Mountain are closer to Phoenix Sky Harbor than downtown Tucson is, and downtown is about 121 minutes from PHX on our estimate. That makes Marana golf a natural first or last stop on a Phoenix arrival. See Phoenix to Tucson drive.
