The ways in: resort stays
Two resorts give their guests access to courses that are otherwise for members. A third, La Paloma, is a private club where resort-guest play is not confirmed.
Ventana Canyon. The two Tom Fazio courses at the member-owned Ventana Canyon Golf & Racquet Club alternate daily between member play and resort play. Guests of Loews Ventana Canyon and the Lodge at Ventana Canyon get the resort course of the day. Check which course is in the rotation on your dates; the Mountain course has the famous third hole. Loews adds a daily resort charge ($39 plus tax on a 2026 group page). See our Ventana Canyon golf guide.
Dove Mountain. Guests of The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain book the Nicklaus 27 through Guest Relations or the club. It is among the priciest rounds in the area, and the resort charge is about $68.73 a night on OTA listings. See Dove Mountain golf.
La Paloma. Older sources (a 2021 Troon magazine article and hotel listings) say guests of The Westin La Paloma can play the private Nicklaus 27 next door. The current 2026 guest policy was not confirmed, so ask when you book the room. Our La Paloma golf guide has the details.
Memberships for snowbirds and reciprocal play
If you are staying a month or more, a few of the private golf clubs in Tucson and Green Valley sell access that a short visit cannot buy.
- Country Club of Green Valley: Partial Year memberships from one month up to six consecutive months for people whose primary home is outside the area. A third-party guide says three months minimum; sources conflict. Dues are not published.
- Desert Hills Golf Club of Green Valley: a member-owned, member-run equity club that advertises introductory memberships and a reciprocal program. Terms are not published.
- Community clubs: SaddleBrooke One sold renters a $580-a-month play pass in its 2026 golf year, and Quail Creek renters get resident rates and can buy annual memberships. These are semi-private, not private; see SaddleBrooke golf and Quail Creek golf.
On reciprocal play generally, we found no published reciprocal terms for the other private clubs. The usual route is for your home club's professional to contact the host club. Do not expect a walk-up round.
Military golf: Davis-Monthan closed
The General William Blanchard Golf Course on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base ceased operations on May 1, 2018, after losses over eight years, falling rounds and higher utility costs. Only the driving range and putting green were kept. Some directories still list it as open; they are stale. Active-duty members were pointed to the Camo Card discount at the City of Tucson courses, and Fred Enke is the nearest. More in closed golf courses in Tucson.

| Stone Canyon or Oro Valley CC | El Conquistador | Public, town-owned | $46.69-$85.79 (Oct 27, 2026) |

| Desert Hills or CC of Green Valley | San Ignacio or Canoa Ranch | Public | San Ignacio $41.88-$71.61 (late Oct 2026) |
Fees are tee-time snapshots; rates change. Starr Pass, a Troon-managed club with a membership, lists public times on GolfNow and Troon, and its 27 holes run to 6,951 yards at 73.7/141. Arizona National is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. course near Sabino Canyon that markets itself as Tucson's best public course. The Starr Pass course guide and Sewailo course guide go deeper, and our Tucson golf courses guide lists every course open to visitors.
The Cologuard Classic at a private club
The area's PGA Tour Champions event moved from Omni Tucson National to La Paloma Country Club in 2024. Ticket-resale listings give March 18 to 21, 2027, not yet confirmed. Because La Paloma is private, the week is for spectators only, and Foothills hotels are busier. Omni Tucson National operates normally. See Tucson golf events.
