Borrego Springs golf from Temecula means one real destination, Rams Hill, a public Fazio desert course about 112 minutes east, plus a nine-hole RV resort course and the private de Anza. Plan it as a full day or an overnight, since the drive is 103 to 112 minutes each way.
Borrego Springs is off our main Temecula map, a desert side trip east of the valley. It makes the most sense for golfers who have played the Temecula courses and want a different landscape, or for snowbirds on a multi-week stay. This guide covers the three courses, the closures, the route and when to go. Information was read in November 2026.

Rams Hill
Rams Hill Golf Club is at 1881 Rams Hill Road. It is a Tom Fazio desert layout, redesigned with Tim Jackson, and a public daily-fee course. The site was live on November 6, 2026, said the course is open year-round and books daily-fee tee times up to 30 days out. Stay-and-play packages give preferred pricing and earlier booking; a 2020 article tied them to House on the Hill, La Casa del Zorro and Borrego Springs Resort, though the resort's own course has since closed.
Two cautions. First, a 2020 article said Rams Hill was seasonal from November to May, and the site says year-round, so confirm hours, especially in summer, when heat is extreme. Second, our Temecula research did not read the rates page, and par, tees and fees are not in our record. For the rate table another of our guides did read, see the Borrego Springs golf guide from Palm Springs, which lists Rams Hill's published prices as of November 2, 2026.
Google reviewers give Rams Hill 4.7 stars from 184 reviews. Our take: the destination round in Borrego, a long drive from Temecula, best as an overnight. There is a Rams Hill course guide and a longer Rams Hill golf guide.
The Springs at Borrego
The Springs at Borrego RV Resort & Golf Course is a nine-hole course at 2255 Di Giorgio Rd, bookable on Chronogolf. On November 6, 2026 the booking page said it was "currently closed for annual over-seeding" with no reopening date. A June 2026 maintenance closure was also listed. Carts for 18 holes are not available after noon.
That is the pattern: it operates in season, closes to overseed, and you must confirm before driving. It is mainly useful for RV guests. Google reviewers rate it 4.6 stars from 505 reviews. See the Springs at Borrego course guide.
de Anza Country Club
De Anza at 509 Catarina Drive is a private 18-hole, par-72 club. The championship tees measure 6,778 yards at 72.1/127. It hosted the Borrego Springs Golf Classic on February 20, 2026, which shows it is active. A 2018 Borrego Sun report said outside play continues, and trial memberships are listed. Visitor access is not published, so call 760-767-5105. Google reviewers give it 4.8 stars from 76 reviews. More in the private golf clubs guide.
What closed in Borrego Springs
The Borrego Springs Resort golf course closed in September 2019 and has not reopened, according to the Borrego Sun. Club Circle East also closed. A 2020 letter said the grounds were unmaintained. Do not plan around either. The Temecula equivalents are in our closed golf courses guide.
How the drive works
Our research note puts Borrego Springs about 1.5 hours east of Temecula via Highway 79, S2 and S22, and the mapped estimates are 103 to 112 minutes depending on which course. Neither is a live route with traffic. Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours each way, so a day trip is 3 to 4 hours of driving for one 18-hole round. A 36-hole day is not realistic from Temecula. If you want two rounds, stay the night, ideally on a Rams Hill stay-and-play.
Is it worth it from Temecula?
| Reason to go | Reason to skip |
|---|---|
| A desert Fazio course unlike Temecula's valley layouts | 3 to 4 hours of driving for one round |
| Public tee times up to 30 days out | Rates not read in our Temecula files |
| A change for a snowbird on a multi-week stay | Overseed closures at the Springs; summer heat |
For a 3 to 5 day buddies trip, the time is usually better spent on a second Temecula round, such as Journey at Pechanga or Pala Mesa. See the best golf courses in Temecula and the Temecula golf trip itinerary. For a long winter stay, one Borrego day makes a good break from the weekly rotation; see Temecula winter golf for snowbirds.
Palm Springs is the other desert option, about 1.5 hours north-east of Temecula over CA-74 or via I-15 and I-10. Our Temecula vs Palm Springs golf guide compares the two towns, and the Palm Springs golf map shows that valley's courses.
When to go: the best time to golf in Temecula covers the seasons on the Temecula side. Borrego Springs summers are extreme, so cooler months are the sensible choice.
Plan it on the map
Open the Temecula golf map to see Rams Hill, the Springs at Borrego and de Anza off the east edge of the board, with drive times from Old Town. The $49 plan can fit a Borrego day or overnight into your trip, or into one week of a winter rotation.

Questions golfers ask
How far is Borrego Springs from Temecula?
Rams Hill is about 112 minutes and 73 miles from Old Town Temecula on the mapped estimate. The research note says about 1.5 hours east via Highway 79, S2 and S22, so allow 1.5 to 2 hours. The Springs at Borrego is about 103 minutes and de Anza about 106 minutes.
Is Rams Hill open to the public?
Yes. Rams Hill is a public daily-fee course, with tee times booked on its website up to 30 days ahead. Stay-and-play packages book earlier. Those packages were tied to House on the Hill, La Casa del Zorro and Borrego Springs Resort in a 2020 article, and the resort has since closed its course.
Is Borrego Springs golf worth the drive from Temecula?
Only as a planned day or an overnight. Rams Hill is a Fazio desert course and the destination round, but the drive is long. Our record says it is best as an overnight. Temecula has enough strong courses closer, so a Borrego day is a change of scenery, not a necessity.
Can I play de Anza Country Club?
It is private. A 2018 Borrego Sun report said outside play continues and trial memberships are listed, so call 760-767-5105 to ask. Visitor access and fees are not published.
Is the Springs at Borrego golf course open?
It is a nine-hole course at an RV resort, bookable on Chronogolf. On November 6, 2026 it showed as closed for its annual overseed with no reopening date, so confirm before driving. Carts for 18 holes are not available after noon.
Which Borrego Springs courses have closed?
The Borrego Springs Resort golf course closed in September 2019, and Club Circle East also closed. Neither has reopened as far as we found.
What is Borrego Springs like in summer?
Summer heat is extreme, per the Rams Hill note. The club's site says it is open year-round, but a 2020 article said Rams Hill was seasonal from November to May, so those sources conflict. Check hours before a summer visit.
