What kind of course is Rams Hill?

Rams Hill Golf Club is described in our record as a desert Fazio layout. The designer credit reads Tom Fazio, redesigned with Tim Jackson. Beyond that, the Temecula research found no par, no tee yardages and no rating or slope, so we will not guess at them. There is a Rams Hill course guide on the map with what is on file.

What you can say is the setting: Borrego Springs is a desert town, and the course sits there. It is a different kind of golf from Temecula's valley and wine-country layouts, which is the reason to go. Google reviewers rate it 4.7 stars from 184 reviews.

Our verdict from the record: the destination round in Borrego, a long drive from Temecula, best as an overnight.

We would rather leave the cells blank than invent a price. Our Palm Springs guide, Borrego Springs golf: Rams Hill, de Anza and the drive, reads the rate table on the club's page as of November 2, 2026 and shows how it moves by season and by weekday versus weekend. For your own dates, open the tee sheet or call 760-767-3500. For how Temecula's courses compare on price, see the Temecula golf rates guide.

Booking Rams Hill

There are two routes:

  1. Daily fee. Book on the club's tee sheet at ramshill.com up to 30 days ahead.
  2. Stay and play. Packages give preferred pricing and earlier booking. A 2020 article named House on the Hill, La Casa del Zorro and Borrego Springs Resort as partners. Because the Borrego Springs Resort golf course closed in 2019, check which partners and packages are current before you rely on that list.

Book early if your dates fall in a busy season, and use the phone number for questions the site does not answer. Our Temecula tee times guide explains booking windows at the Temecula courses for comparison.

The drive from Temecula

The mapped estimate from Old Town Temecula is 112 minutes and 73.4 miles. The research note describes about 1.5 hours east via Highway 79, S2 and S22. Both are estimates without live traffic, so plan for up to two hours each way. A single round is therefore a 3 to 4 hour commitment in the car, which is why we suggest an overnight.

Is the season a problem?

Yes, at the edges. The club's site says year-round, but a 2020 article said Rams Hill was seasonal from November to May, and summer heat is extreme. Those sources conflict, so we cannot tell you with confidence what is open in July. If you are planning a trip outside the cooler months, call first. The Temecula side has its own seasons: see the best time to golf in Temecula.

Rams Hill or a Temecula round?

For a 3 to 5 day trip, a second round at Journey at Pechanga or another valley course will usually fit better than four hours in a car. For a snowbird on a multi-week stay, one Rams Hill day makes a change of scenery. Read the full area story in the Borrego Springs golf from Temecula guide and the best golf courses in Temecula.

Palm Springs is the other desert golf town, about 1.5 hours north-east of Temecula, and its guide to the same course is linked above. Our Temecula golf trip guide shows how a trip fits together.
