Sunbrook Golf Club is the City of St. George's 27-hole municipal course, on the west side of St. George, Utah, about 12 minutes from downtown. Its three nines (The Pointe, Woodbridge and Blackrock) are played as three par-72 rotations. A round costs $68 walking or $88 with a cart from October to May, and just $34 walking from June to September, according to the city fee page checked October 2026. For a course with water on about a third of its holes, lava and real elevation change, that is a low price.
A practical first question is which pairing you will get, and whether it matters. It does. This guide starts there.

Where Sunbrook sits: the west side of St. George, toward Santa Clara
Sunbrook is on the west side of St. George, out toward Santa Clara and Ivins rather than on the I-15 corridor. That puts it in the same part of town as the Snow Canyon courses: the private Entrada, the resort course at Black Desert in Ivins, and The Ledges on the north rim above Snow Canyon State Park.
Drive times on our map:
| Course | From downtown St. George | From The Inn at Entrada (west side) |
|---|---|---|
| Sunbrook | 12 min | 12 min |
| Dixie Red Hills (city 9) | 7 min | 8 min |
| Black Desert (Ivins) | 13 min | 3 min |
| The Ledges (north St. George) | 15 min | 15 min |
| Southgate (city) | 8 min | 16 min |
| Green Spring (Washington) | 12 min | 19 min |
| Sand Hollow (Hurricane) | 32 min | 40 min |
The takeaway: Sunbrook is the value round of the west side. Black Desert's non-guest green fee was $450 in peak season (seen October 2026), and The Ledges' spring and autumn mornings ran near $300. Sunbrook is $88 with a cart. For the whole west-side cluster, see our guide to Ivins and Snow Canyon golf.
The three nines at Sunbrook Golf Club
Each nine has its own character. The hole notes below come from the city's site and a 2009 Deseret News profile.
The Pointe
The Pointe has enough elevation change that the Deseret News recommends riding it rather than walking. Its 5th is a short dogleg-left par 4 that is drivable but risky. The layup is the safe play.
Woodbridge
Woodbridge has the two holes the city and the Deseret News single out:
- 4th: a par 3 from an elevated tee to an island green.
- 5th: a par-4 dogleg right from an elevated tee, with an approach over water past the wooden bridge that gives the nine its name.
Blackrock
The newest nine runs through lava. Its 7th winds through black lava to a green bunkered front and right.
Across the property, water comes into play on about a third of the holes. The bunkers are filled with red crushed cinder rather than white sand.
Which rotation is hardest?
The tee sheet tells you which pairing you are playing. Here is how they compare from each tee, with official USGA ratings for men:
| Tee | Pointe / Woodbridge | Woodbridge / Blackrock | Blackrock / Pointe |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black | 6,823 yds, 73.9 / 133 | 6,838 yds, 73.8 / 138 | 6,735 yds, 73.1 / 134 |
| Gold | 6,428 yds, 71.9 / 129 | 6,447 yds, 71.9 / 132 | 6,317 yds, 71.0 / 128 |
| Silver | 6,021 yds, 70.2 / 126 | 5,991 yds, 69.8 / 126 | 5,872 yds, 68.8 / 123 |
| Silver/Bronze | 5,531 yds, 67.9 / 118 | 5,555 yds, 68.0 / 118 | 5,462 yds, 67.1 / 116 |
| Bronze | 5,187 yds, 66.1 / 116 | 5,033 yds, 65.2 / 112 | 5,012 yds, 65.1 / 110 |
Women's ratings are published for Silver and Bronze:
| Tee | Pointe / Woodbridge | Woodbridge / Blackrock | Blackrock / Pointe |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | 74.9 / 141 | 75.2 / 143 | 74.3 / 140 |
| Bronze | 71.1 / 128 | 70.5 / 122 | 70.0 / 121 |
What the tables say:
- Woodbridge/Blackrock is the hardest pairing from the back tees, with a 138 slope from the Blacks.
- Blackrock/Pointe is the shortest, about 90 to 130 yards shorter than the others from the Blacks and Golds.
- Pointe/Woodbridge is the classic combination, with the island-green 4th.
If the tee sheet gives you a choice, Pointe/Woodbridge is the classic first look. Woodbridge/Blackrock is the tougher test. Even that pairing sits well below the 148 slope at Coral Canyon in Washington.
What the terrain looks like
We mapped all 27 holes against a terrain model. Tee to green, the holes drop a combined 432 feet and climb 251. The biggest single drop is about 79 feet on a par 4, and the biggest climb about 70 feet. That is a lot of movement for a city course, and it fits the Deseret News advice to ride The Pointe.
Sunbrook Golf Club green fees in 2026
From the City of St. George fee page, checked October 11, 2026 (no effective date printed). The trutee tee sheet showed matching walking rates for October 20 to 25, 2026.
| Season | 18 holes walking | 18 holes with cart | 9 holes walking | 9 holes with cart |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| October–May | $68 | $88 | $38 | $48 |
| June–September | $34 | $54 | — | — |
The city has two seasons and no separate twilight rate. The cart is not in the base rate; it adds $20 for 18 holes. There is a new lithium Club Car fleet. For every course's fees side by side, see St. George green fees.
The loyalty card
Washington County residents can buy a loyalty card for $80 a year (Utah ID with a Washington County address):
| Season | 18 walking | 18 with cart |
|---|---|---|
| October–May | $39 | $59 |
| June–September | $27 | $47 |
It is not valid on Fridays and Saturdays from October 1 to April 30, and visitors from outside the county pay the rack rate. More on this in St. George golf resident rates.
The Sunbrook Golf Club calendar
Sunbrook's value changes sharply with the calendar, so plan around these 2026 dates from the city maintenance schedule:
| Dates (2026) | What happens |
|---|---|
| May 12–14 | Spring aerification; 18 holes open |
| June–September | Summer rate: $34 walking for 18 |
| August 25–27 | Fall aerification; 18 holes open |
| September 8–22 | Closed for overseed |
| November 9–10 | Utah PGA Pro-Assistants Championship at Sunbrook and SunRiver; tee times may be limited |
The fairways are a warm-season grass overseeded each fall; the city does not publish the species. Summer is the bargain, but average highs run about 96 to 102°F from June to August, so take the first tee time you can. From October through May, the weather is the draw: St. George averages highs of about 53°F in December and January and 75°F in April. See summer golf in St. George and our overseed schedule.
Booking tee times and walking
- 14 days online through trutee.
- Groups of 16+ booking outside the window pay a $10 non-refundable fee.
- Walking is allowed and priced. The Pointe is the nine to ride.
- Dress: proper attire, no metal spikes (per a GolfNow listing; the city publishes no dress code).
For other courses you can walk, see walking golf in St. George.
Practice, food and lessons
The driving range costs $5 for a small bucket and $9 for a large one, and there is a putting green. The Sunbrook Cafe runs a breakfast and lunch grill; call ahead at the turn. The head pro is Reed McArthur, PGA, and lessons run through the city's Golf Learning Center.
Pairing Sunbrook with other St. George golf courses
Sunbrook is one of four City of St. George courses, and the city ones pair easily because they share the same booking site and two-season rate card:
- Sunbrook plus Dixie Red Hills. Add the city's nine-hole course, $27 walking in the October to May season, for a 27-hole day without leaving the west half of town.
- Sunbrook plus St. George Golf Club or Southgate. St. George Golf Club (map) climbs only about 42 feet tee to green over 18 holes, and Southgate is 8 minutes from downtown. Two city 18s in a day for well under $200 with carts in peak season.
- Sunbrook plus a west-side splurge. Play Sunbrook in the morning and a discounted afternoon at The Ledges, where October prices fell to $112 to $125 at 4 pm when we checked.
Our St. George city golf courses guide compares all four city courses.

How Sunbrook Golf Club fits a golf trip
The city says Golf Digest twice rated Sunbrook the best course in Utah, though no years are given, and it is not on Golf Digest's 2025-26 Utah list. Its real case today is value: 27 holes with water, lava and elevation for under $90 with a cart, on the same side of St. George as the region's most expensive tee times.
