Courses drawn to one scale: St. George City Golf Courses: What Each Round Really Costs in 2026

The City of St. George, Utah runs four public golf courses: Sunbrook (27 holes) on the west side, St. George Golf Club and Southgate on the south side, and the 9-hole Dixie Red Hills just north of downtown. Going by the city's rates page, checked October 2026, 18 holes in season cost $44 to $68 walking or $64 to $88 with a cart. Summer (June to September) drops that to $30 to $34 walking. There are no twilight rates, and the cheaper loyalty price is for Washington County residents only.

This guide to St. George city golf courses, rates and extras is about money: what each city round costs, what's extra, where each course sits, and how to stretch a golf budget across St. George golf courses without guessing.

All four are within about 12 minutes of downtown, which is part of their appeal. You don't need to plan a day around a drive.

St. George city golf courses: rates for 2026

These are the City of St. George published rates, checked October 11, 2026 (no effective date was printed). The city uses two seasons only: October to May and June to September.

Course Oct–May walk Oct–May cart Jun–Sep walk Jun–Sep cart
Sunbrook (18)$68$88$34$54
St. George Golf Club (18)$44$64$30$50

St. George GC / Southgate (9)$27$37n/an/a
Dixie Red Hills (9)$27$37$19$29

A few things the table doesn't tell you:

  • The cart is extra. The difference is $20 for 18 holes and $10 for 9. All four courses allow walking, and walking rates are published.
  • There is no twilight. On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the online sheet showed Dixie Red Hills at a flat $27 walking from 9:30 am to 4:20 pm.
  • Range balls cost $5 small or $9 large at Sunbrook and Dixie Red Hills, and $5 or $10 at Southgate.
  • Prices change. Check the city fee page before you book.

For how these compare with every other course in the area, season by season, see our St. George green fees comparison.

Where the city courses are in St. George

The four city courses cover three sides of town, and each has its own nearby hotels. Hotel drive times below come from our map's road routing.

South side, off I-15: Southgate and St. George Golf Club

Southgate is on Tonaquint Drive on the south side of town, minutes off I-15, where its front nine crosses the Santa Clara River. It is the closest city 18 to the convention-center hotels: the Hyatt Place and the Holiday Inn Convention Center are about 4 minutes away, and the Hilton Garden Inn about 5.

St. George Golf Club is on the south-east side, about 10 minutes from downtown, with Fort Pearce Wash running through it. The Tru by Hilton is about 6 minutes away, and the Hilton Garden Inn and Fairfield Inn about 7. If you're staying anywhere along the I-15 corridor, these two are your easiest rounds.

North of downtown: Dixie Red Hills

Dixie Red Hills sits under the red cliffs just north of downtown, about 7 minutes from Main Street. The Advenire is about 6 minutes away and the Best Western Plus Abbey Inn about 7. It's the closest golf to downtown, which makes it the easy nine before or after dinner.

West side, toward Santa Clara and Ivins: Sunbrook

Sunbrook is on the west side, about 12 minutes out, in the direction of Santa Clara, Ivins and Snow Canyon. It's the only city course on that side, so it pairs well with a resort round at Black Desert or The Ledges. The nearest hotels are the Holiday Inn Convention Center (about 10 minutes) and the Advenire and Fairfield Inn (about 11). Our guide to where to stay for golf in St. George matches hotels to every course.

The local loyalty card

If you live in Washington County, the loyalty card is the best deal in St. George Utah golf. It costs $80 a year and needs a Utah ID with a Washington County address.

Course Oct–May walk / cart Jun–Sep walk / cart
Sunbrook (18)$39 / $59$27 / $47
St. George GC and Southgate (18)$30 / $50$22 / $42
Dixie Red Hills (9)$17 / $27$12 / $22

Two catches: it isn't valid on Fridays and Saturdays from October 1 to April 30, and visitors can't buy it. Snowbirds should check whether their address qualifies before assuming it does. Our St. George golf resident rates guide covers the other local deals in the area.

Booking: 14 days, one system

All four city courses book through trutee.app, and the window is 14 days. (A 2009 newspaper profile said Sunbrook opened 60 days out. That's no longer true.) Groups of 16 or more who want to book outside the window pay a $10 non-refundable fee.

For a spring trip, 14 days is short. Plan your resort and daily-fee rounds first, then fill the gaps with city tee times once they open. Our St. George tee times booking guide lists every course's window.

What you get for the money at each course

Sunbrook: the flagship ($68 to $88 in season)

Sunbrook costs the most because it's the most course. It has 27 holes in three nines (The Pointe, Woodbridge and Blackrock), with water on about a third of the holes, red-cinder bunkers and lava on Blackrock. The tee sheet tells you which pairing you get. Pointe/Woodbridge is the classic combination, with the island-green par 3 at Woodbridge #4. Woodbridge/Blackrock carries the highest slope, 138 from the Black tees. There's a cafe for breakfast and lunch at the turn. The Sunbrook Golf Club guide goes deeper.

St. George Golf Club: the most course per dollar ($44 to $64)

It's the area's only par 73, and at 7,271 yards from the Gold tees it's the longest city course. The slope is modest, though: 129 from the tips and 124 from the Blue tees (6,673 yards), which suits most visitors. Fort Pearce Wash runs through it, with water at #9 and #18, which share a peninsula green complex. The catch is no driving range.

Southgate: the arrival-day round ($44 to $64)

Southgate is the shortest city 18 (6,218 yards). Eight of the first nine holes have water along the Santa Clara River, and the back nine climbs into the Tonaquint foothills. The #16 is a long downhill par 3 over water. The city calls it walkable. It also stays cart-path-only for 2 to 3 weeks after its fall overseed, so walking in October is the natural choice.

Dixie Red Hills: the cheapest golf in town ($19 to $37)

This is the city's first course, from 1965: nine short holes under red cliffs. The #6 hole is a 105-yard par 3 over water to a tiny green. It's the right nine for a late afternoon after a morning round somewhere else.

Which city course for which golfer

  • Best course, if you only play one: Sunbrook. It has the most variety and the highest slopes.
  • Longest hitters on a budget: St. George Golf Club, at 7,271 yards from the Gold tees and par 73, for $44 walking. Warm up somewhere else first.
  • Walkers: Southgate. The city calls it walkable, and in October it's cart-path-only anyway.
  • Beginners, juniors and a quick evening nine: Dixie Red Hills, at 2,738 yards for nine.
  • Golfers who want a range session first: Sunbrook, Southgate or Dixie Red Hills, not St. George Golf Club.

Overseed closures, 2026

The city staggers its closures, so the courses are rarely all shut at once. In 2026 the only day all four were closed was September 22.

Course 2026 closed
SunbrookSep 8–22
Dixie Red HillsSep 9–23
St. George Golf ClubSep 21–Oct 5
SouthgateSep 22–Oct 6 (then cart-path-only about 2–3 weeks)

Summer rates still apply through September. The full calendar for every course is in our St. George overseed schedule.

One more date: the Utah PGA Pro-Assistants Championship is at Sunbrook and SunRiver on November 9 to 10, 2026, which may limit tee times on those days.

Two neighbouring towns also run public courses, and they price differently:

That's the lowest regular peak-season 18-hole price among the courses we track in St. George.

A sample budget week

Using the St. George city golf course rates above, here is what four rounds cost one golfer, walking, on the October to May card:
