Duotone terrain map: Grayhawk Golf Club: Raptor or Talon, live rates and the 2026 closures

This guide compares Raptor and Talon, sets out the live November rates, the booking window and the 2026 closures, and lists the stays nearby. Grayhawk is 23 to 24 minutes from Old Town Scottsdale. Rates are dynamic and change by date.

Grayhawk Raptor vs Talon

Heather, women5,309 (71.2/124)5,143 (70.1/126)

Ratings are from Offcourse rather than the USGA database, with Heather taken as the women's tee. Both courses are par 72.

Raptor is longer from every tee; Talon has the higher back-tee slope and the shorter forward tees. For a group with mixed handicaps, Raptor's Terra Cotta or Palo Verde is the comfortable choice.

The Raptor Course

Raptor is Tom Fazio's desert course with generous fairways, natural arroyos and big, undulating greens guarded by deep bunkers and grass hollows. It is the tour course of the two and the better group choice, because it is fair for mixed handicaps.

Play it if your group spans a wide range of handicaps, or you want the course the pros played. See the Raptor course guide.

The Talon Course

Talon is the more dramatic of the two. Its back nine runs through deep box canyons and along steep drop-offs, and its large tiered greens punish a ball on the wrong level, so check the daily pin sheet. Several tee shots look tighter than they are; position matters more than length. The club cites a GOLF Magazine Top 100 You Can Play listing, year not given.

Play it if your group wants the bigger test at about the same price. See the Talon course guide.

Two tips from the files: pay for the 36-hole rate only if you really will go round twice, as the 27-hole option suits a long morning; and book online, since the club says its web specials are its best rates. See Scottsdale golf rates.

Booking Grayhawk tee times

Grayhawk Golf Club sells times on its own Quick18 sheet. The window is not published: on November 3, 2026 it showed times for November 10 but none yet for December 1, so expect under four weeks. For a February or March trip, check the sheet daily as your dates come into range. More in Scottsdale tee times.

Grayhawk is operated by Arcis Golf, and the 2026-27 Arcis Players' Card ($279, valid October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027) includes select Grayhawk play days on top of discounts at eight other Arcis courses. Details in Phoenix golf passes.

Pairing Grayhawk with nearby courses

TPC Scottsdale Stadium is close by (4 minutes from the Princess, against 8 to Raptor), and a common two-day north Scottsdale plan is the Stadium one day and a Grayhawk course the next; read our TPC Scottsdale guide. For a cheaper round nearby, McDowell Mountain is an Arcis public course with mountain views and the Players' Card discount; see the McDowell Mountain course guide.

Off the course, the McDowell Sonoran Preserve's Gateway Trailhead is minutes from Grayhawk, and Dominick's Steakhouse at Scottsdale Quarter is close for dinner. More in north Scottsdale golf and our Scottsdale buddies golf trip guide.

Which Grayhawk course to play

At Grayhawk Golf Club the choice comes down to your group's handicaps and budget:

  • Mixed group: Raptor from the Terra Cotta or Palo Verde tees.
  • Low handicaps: Talon, for the canyon holes and tiered greens.
  • Value: a 1:51 pm time, $261 to $266 on November 10, 2026.
  • Both: the 36-hole rate on one course, or Raptor and Talon on separate days.
