Duotone terrain map: Orlando winter golf for snowbirds: the weather, the passes, the calendar and where to base

Orlando winter golf runs from November to April, with the best weather in November and December and the busiest, priciest golf from January to March. Highs are about 72-79F through the winter with 6-7 rain days a month. Most snowbirds base in a Kissimmee, Davenport or Clermont rental, buy a local pass and rotate public courses.

This guide explains how a snowbird winter of Central Florida golf works: the weather month by month, the season passes, how peak pricing and overseed closures shape the calendar, and the events that crowd the tee sheets. Weather is from NOAA's 1991-2020 normals; prices were seen in November 2026 and change.

NOAA 1991-2020 normals at Orlando International (MCO). Sanford, north of the city, is within about 1F every month but has about one more rain day a month in winter. The whole area shares one climate for golf.

Dormant bermudagrass turns tan in a cold snap, which is why a noticeable number of resort and high-end daily-fee courses overseed fairways and roughs with ryegrass in the fall, to stay green through January and February frosts. Short days matter too: sunset is around 5:30 pm in early December, so twilight rounds are short. Our Orlando weather by month guide has the full year.

Where snowbirds base for an Orlando winter

Snowbirds usually rent vacation homes and gated resort communities around Kissimmee, Davenport, ChampionsGate and Reunion; condos and homes in Clermont, Winter Garden and the Lake County towns (Mount Dora, Tavares, Howey-in-the-Hills); or RV sites in Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Clermont and Lake County. The Villages and Leesburg, just north-west, are a retirement and snowbird area of their own.

Winter rentals compete with family visitors as well as other snowbirds, because the snowbird peak overlaps the park peaks at Christmas, Presidents' Day, spring breaks and Easter. Book early. Read Orlando snowbird rentals for the options and rules, and Orlando RV resorts for RV sites.

What peak season does to green fees

Green fees peak from January to April. A few published examples:

  • Providence: $99 before 2 pm in November and December 2026; $129 before noon in January; $149 before noon, $119 to 3 pm and $99 after 3 pm from February 1 to March 31, 2027, plus 7% tax. See the Providence course guide.
  • Disney's courses: fall rates (to Jan 7, 2027) about 20% below the winter peak, which runs Jan 8 to Mar 21, 2027.
  • Royal St. Cloud: $69 Monday to Thursday before 1:30 pm in November and December 2026; January to April 2027 rates were not yet published.
  • Streamsong: $425 for day guests from October to mid-December 2026, $445 from January 14 to April 30, 2027.

That makes November and December the value months of an Orlando winter. Our snowbird golf schedule for Orlando shows how to build a weekly rotation around day-of-week pricing, and cheap golf in Orlando lists the lowest fees.

Overseed and maintenance closures

Overseeding closes courses for a few days to about three weeks, mostly late October to mid-December. Fall 2026 dates in our records:

The Winter Park city courses publish monthly maintenance days instead: WP9 closes on Mondays Nov 9 and Dec 7, 2026, and WP18 on Nov 16 and Dec 14. Our Orlando golf in November guide tracks every closure.

The winter calendar

  • Thanksgiving (Nov 26, 2026) and Christmas-New Year: the busiest park weeks; holiday morning tee sheets fill with visiting families.
  • PNC Championship, Dec 14-20, 2026: the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Grande Lakes closes to guest play around it.
  • MLK weekend (Jan 16-18, 2027) and the PGA Show (Jan 26-29, 2027): the show fills International Drive hotels and takes over Orange County National for Demo Day on Jan 26.
  • LPGA Tournament of Champions, Feb 4-7, 2027, at private Lake Nona.
  • Presidents' Day weekend, Feb 13-15, 2027.
  • Arnold Palmer Invitational, Mar 15-21, 2027, on top of spring breaks and Canadian March break.
  • Easter, Mar 28, 2027: snowbirds head north after it.

Our Orlando golf in December and January guide covers the holiday stretch.

A sensible shape for the winter

  • November and early December: play the most rounds. It is dry, the rates are still shoulder rates, and tee sheets are easier before the January rush. Work around the overseed closures.
  • Christmas to New Year: play early mornings and avoid the courses nearest the parks, where visiting families fill holiday tee sheets.
  • January to March: book as soon as each window opens, use a pass course for most rounds and save the pricier daily-fee courses for weekdays.
  • April: rates step down through the month after Easter, and the second half of April is very good golf weather before the heat and humidity of May.

Time zone and stay limits

Orlando is on Eastern Time, the same as Ontario, Quebec, New York, Michigan and Ohio. Canadians on long stays need to track US immigration days, the IRS substantial presence test and provincial health rules; since April 11, 2025, Canadians 14 and over staying 30 days or more without an I-94 record must register with USCIS. Read Canadian snowbirds in Orlando before you set dates. If you are comparing Florida winters, see Naples winter golf for snowbirds.
