Drawn hole routing: Naples golf trip planning: areas, season, guest-only courses and where to stay

A Naples golf trip works best when you pick one base, Naples, Bonita Springs and Estero, or Fort Myers, and play the bookable courses closest to it. Most courses here are private, so the trip is built around a few dozen public courses plus the guest-only routes at Tiburón, LaPlaya and the JW Marriott Marco Island.

This guide covers the areas, the season, the guest-only courses and the choice between a resort, a rental and an RV park. Fees and rates were seen in November 2026 and change.

Quick facts

  • Courses on our map: 145, of which 37 sell tee times to visitors and 5 are for resort guests.
  • Airport: RSW, 48 minutes from downtown Naples and 25 from downtown Fort Myers.
  • Peak season: January to April. Best value weather: November-December and May.
  • Time zone: Eastern, the same as Ontario and Quebec.
  • Grass: bermuda, rarely overseeded; summer is aerification season.
  • Hurricane season: June 1 to November 30.

How a Naples golf trip fits together

Downtown Fort Myers is 55 minutes from downtown Naples and Punta Gorda 80, free-flow. Traffic on I-75 and US 41 can add 15 to 45 minutes from January to April, so where you sleep decides which courses are easy.

The courses a visitor can book

The public core of a Naples golf trip is small, so spread your rounds across it:

Guest-only courses: the reason to pick certain hotels

Three hotels open courses the public cannot book:

None of these publishes green fees; all use dynamic pricing. Tiburón also closes its Gold course for two tour events, November 19-22 and December 11-13, 2026. Compare the resorts in Naples golf resorts.

Resort, rental or RV

  • Resort: the simplest route to the guest-only courses, at a price. One 2026 group block at the Ritz-Carlton Tiburón was $209-269 plus tax and resort fee, and the JW Marriott's resort fee was listed at about $55 a night.
  • Interstate hotel: the value play. Hotels by I-75 at Pine Ridge, Alico Road and Daniels Parkway cost far less than beach hotels in February and March.
  • Golf-community rental: for a month or more. At Heritage Bay, one 2-bed condo listed $6,175 a month for January to March 2027, with a 30-day minimum and a $600 transfer fee that opens the course; rounds are extra.
  • RV park: Imperial Bonita Estates publishes $1,605 a month for January to March on a 3-month stay, and Northtide Naples sold January 1 to March 31, 2027 for $5,500.

A long stay is a different trip; see Naples winter golf.

What a round costs

Published fees give a fair idea of a Naples golf trip budget, though most courses price dynamically and rates rise as tee sheets fill:

  • Fort Myers city courses: $70 with cart before noon, $55 from noon to 3pm and $35 after 3pm in November 2026; walking after 3pm was $20.
  • Stoneybrook: $130 before noon in November and December, $199 from January to April, $99 from May to October, plus tax.
  • Eagle Lakes: $89 to $109 for November and December 2026, with $55 twilight from 2:30pm.
  • Ibis Landing: $99 before noon from November 1 to December 31, 2026, plus tax, with cart and warm-up balls.
  • The Dunes on Sanibel: $69 from November 1-15, then $130, $169 in December and $199 from January 15 to March 12.

Tiburón, LaPlaya, the Rookery and Saltleaf publish no current card. Count on peak-season rates from January to April and the lowest rates from June to September.

Getting around

You need a car. I-75 runs inland the length of the map, and US 41 is the coastal main street with traffic lights from Fort Myers through Estero, Bonita Springs and Naples. The Sanibel Causeway charges a westbound toll of $6 with a transponder or $9 by plate, and on spring-training days Daniels Parkway near RSW backs up badly. Build in extra time for tee times across the county line.

Getting there and booking

RSW in Fort Myers serves the whole map; Toronto travellers have Air Canada Rouge, Porter and WestJet, and Montreal and Ottawa nonstops are seasonal. More in flights to Fort Myers RSW. Booking windows run from 3 days for the public at Babcock National to 90 days at Saltleaf. For a ready-made schedule, see the Naples golf trip itinerary, and for budgets, Naples golf trip cost. A desert alternative is in the Palm Springs golf trip guide.

Questions golfers ask

How many days do I need for a Naples golf trip?

Three to five days suits most groups, with one round a day and a second round on long days. The bookable courses are spread from Naples to Fort Myers, so plan each day around one area rather than crossing the whole map.

Which airport is best for a Naples golf trip?

Southwest Florida International (RSW) in Fort Myers. It is about 48 minutes from downtown Naples and 25 minutes from downtown Fort Myers, free-flow, and Air Canada Rouge, Porter and WestJet fly from Toronto-Pearson. Punta Gorda is 82 minutes from Naples.

When is the best time for a Naples golf trip?

November, December and late April give dry weather without full peak pricing. January to April is peak season with the highest green fees and the busiest roads. June to September is the cheapest but brings daily afternoon storms and summer course closures.

Can I play the famous Naples courses on a golf trip?

Mostly no, because most are private. The exceptions are resort routes: Tiburón for guests of the two Ritz-Carltons, LaPlaya Golf Club for LaPlaya guests and the Rookery and Hammock Bay for JW Marriott Marco Island guests.

Is it better to stay in Naples or Fort Myers for golf?

Fort Myers has more bookable courses and cheaper golf and rooms; Collier County hotels averaged $487.60 a night in February 2026 against $230.25 in Lee County in January-March. Naples has the beaches, the dining and the resort courses. Bonita Springs and Estero sit between the two.

Do I need to book tee times far ahead?

In season, yes. Windows vary from 3 days at Babcock National and 7 days at the Fort Myers city courses to 90 days at Saltleaf. Book the moment each window opens for January to April mornings.

What happens to a Naples golf trip in hurricane season?

Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. Ian in 2022 and Helene and Milton in 2024 closed or changed courses and resorts, especially on the islands. Buy trip insurance that covers named storms for any booking in that window.
