The course
Conestoga runs through desert canyons and arroyos, with rock outcroppings, water features and more than 50 bunkers. The front nine is the dramatic side. The back nine plays more like a traditional desert course.
Holes to know
#4, "The Fence Hole." A 394-yard par 4 where the fairway runs only about 250 yards before dropping 25 feet off a cliff and picking up again below. You either lay up on top and hit a downhill approach, or try to carry the drop. The wooden fence on the cliff edge gives it its name. It's the No. 1 handicap hole on the card.
#10. The green sits in front of a tumbling waterfall with a mountain backdrop. Golf Digest calls it one of Mesquite's most memorable holes.
Older reviews mention several blind shots on the front nine and say the carts had no GPS. The fleet was replaced in 2025, and whether the new carts have GPS isn't confirmed. Bring a rangefinder or download the course app.
Tees, ratings and slopes
USGA ratings and slopes, checked October 2026. The Southern Nevada Golf Association re-rated the course on Apr 27, 2026, adding a men's Copper/Jade combination.
| Tee | Yards | Men rating/slope | Women rating/slope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black | 7,171 | 74.7/138 | - |
| Gold | 6,754 | 72.5/133 | - |
| Gold/Silver | 6,558 | 71.4/131 | - |
| Silver | 6,349 | 70.5/128 | - |
| Silver/Copper | 6,050 | 69.3/123 | - |
| Copper | 5,792 | 68.4/117 | 73.5/130 |
| Copper/Jade | 5,346 | 65.7/111 | 70.7/124 |
| Jade | 4,995 | 64.0/107 | 68.7/115 |
The director of golf advises playing one set of tees forward the first time. Fairways matter more than distance here, with forced decisions over cliffs and arroyos. A new Copper tee box on #11 went in during 2026, so Copper yardages may have changed slightly.

The green fee includes a cart (two per foursome) and practice balls before your round.
Why summer is the deal
From Jun 22 to Aug 30, 2026 the public rate was $80 to $120. That's the cheapest way to play a Golf Digest-ranked course in Mesquite, if you can handle the heat. July normal highs are about 109F, so go off at first light and be done by early afternoon. Watch for summer aeration: in 2026 the fairways were done Jun 15 and Jul 20 and the greens Jun 22-23 and Jul 27-28. Our Mesquite summer golf post covers heat and timing.
Booking a tee time
- Public: 55 days ahead in the foreUP engine (the 2026 rate sheet says 56). A credit card is required.
- Sun City Mesquite residents: 58 days. Frontier pass holders: 60 days. Resident and pass classes open at 6 AM.
- Waitlist: a Noteefy waitlist is available.
- Cancellation: within 48 hours, the card on file is charged.
Open public times were scarce on the live sheet in late October 2026, and many November and December days showed nothing. Book the day your date opens, and favor weekdays for the lower end of the dynamic range. Our Mesquite tee times booking guide compares windows across town.
Overseed and closures
Conestoga is bermuda overseeded with rye. In 2026 it closed Aug 30 to Sep 30 and reopened Oct 1, according to the foreUP booking page notice. The course details page and the 2026 rate sheet said Sep 1 to 30. Either way it takes the whole of September. No 2027 dates were posted as of October 2026.
If you're in Mesquite in September, see the September overseed guide for what's open.
Practice, food and the clubhouse
- Practice: full facility with a driving range, pitching and chipping area and a putting green. Reviewers call it spacious and well kept. Range balls come with the round, or $20 a day without one (two-hour maximum).
- 1880 Grille: a restaurant and sports bar overlooking the 18th, with a house 1880 Lager on draft. It was renovated in 2025. Check hours before planning lunch: one reviewer found the kitchen closed at 1 PM on a Saturday.
- Pro shop: TaylorMade rental clubs, instruction, outings.
- Rules: collared shirts, no denim. No outside food or drink.
About $2 million of capital work went in during 2025, including the restaurant, most of the maintenance equipment and a larger cart fleet.
