The courses: river flats or canyon back nine
CasaBlanca is low, flat and windy along the Virgin River, and it plays very differently from the canyon courses up the hill. Water is in play on 13 of 18 holes, with big, well-placed bunkers, and the afternoon wind is its main defense. Reviewers say that from the forward tees the water is mostly visual and the bunkers are the real threat. Carts can reach most of the course, unlike at most Mesquite courses. Holes to know: #5 is the No. 1 handicap with water down the left, #16 is the shortest hole with a forced carry over a pond and stream, #17 is the hole the club calls hardest, and #3 is a short, heavily bunkered par 4 that is driveable from some tees.
The Palms has two personalities. The front nine is resort parkland with wide fairways, water and more than 200 palms. The back nine turns into desert canyon with big elevation changes, and it is the reason most people go. #15 is the signature hole, with about a 115-foot drop from tee to fairway, a canal right and desert left. #4 is the No. 1 handicap, a dogleg right with water hidden from the tee (the club suggests a layup and a short wedge), and #11 is a downhill par 3 that is all carry over desert. There are 45 greenside bunkers. One August 2025 review warned that signage between the canyon holes is poor, so first-timers should ask for directions.
CasaBlanca vs Palms Golf Club: which is harder?
CasaBlanca, at most lengths.
| Length band | CasaBlanca | Palms |
|---|---|---|
| Back tees | Double Spades 6,962, 74.2/141 | Blue 6,818, 73.2/131 |
| About 6,000-6,500 yds | Spades 6,511, 72.0/134; Clubs 6,036, 70.0/125 | White 6,198, 69.7/126; White/Gold 5,930, 68.3/122 |
| About 5,500-5,600 yds | Diamonds 5,610, 68.2/118 | Gold 5,506, 66.1/116 |
| Forward | Hearts 5,158, 65.6/114 | Red 4,703, 62.3/106 |
| Women's middle | Diamonds 5,610, 73.1/135 | Gold 5,506, 72.3/128 |
CasaBlanca's tips are the second-stiffest slope in town after Wolf Creek, and the Clubs tees (6,036 yards, 125 slope) are where most mid handicappers will be happiest. The Palms' Blue tees are a moderate 131, and the canyon back nine rewards placement over power. The Palms also has the shortest forward tees of the two at 4,703 yards. See the easiest golf courses in Mesquite for high handicappers for how both compare with the rest of town.
How much do CasaBlanca and Palms cost?

Twilight was $100 from 1 PM in late October and about noon in early to mid November ($110 on some dates), then $90 from noon from November 18. From about November 24 there was no separate twilight block. Winter was $130 through January 21, 2027 ($140 on December 1).
- Palms: $134 before about noon to 1 PM, dropping to $109 from about November 19. A 9-hole early-morning rate of $56.82 appeared on some fall days. Twilight was $95 from about noon to 1 PM in late October and early November ($105 on Saturday, October 24), then $76 from noon from about November 16. Winter was $109 through January 21, 2027.

In the CasaBlanca vs Palms Golf Club price comparison, the Palms was $26 cheaper on fall mornings ($134 against $160) and $21 cheaper in winter ($109 against $130). Over three rounds that adds up to $63 to $78 per golfer, before any package discount.
Winter inventory at both is mostly a 10:00 AM block and a 3:06 PM shotgun-start block. Spring 2027 prices weren't loaded yet; the tee sheet showed times into late February 2027, but priced times stopped after January 21.

The Arizona time zone at the Palms
The Palms is in Arizona, which keeps Mountain Standard Time all year. From November 1, 2026 to March 14, 2027, an Arizona clock reads one hour ahead of Mesquite; the rest of the year they match. Sources disagree: one says the Palms tee sheet runs on Mesquite (Pacific) time, another that winter tee times at the Arizona courses are on Arizona time. Ask which clock your tee time uses when you book a winter round, and set your phone to Pacific near the line. The Mesquite time zone guide for golfers has worked examples, and the Mesquite and St. George time difference covers the Utah side.
Overseed: which is open in September?
Neither course published 2026 overseed dates. In 2025, CasaBlanca closed September 8 to 26 and was cart-path-only to October 9, and the Palms closed September 11 to October 2. Sources disagree on 2026 for the Palms: a third-party schedule estimated about September 8 to October 3, while the Arizona Golf Association's 2026 list showed the Palms as not overseeding. Call before booking a September or early October trip, and see the September overseed guide.
Room and golf: playing both from CasaBlanca
The easiest way to play both is a room-and-golf package at CasaBlanca Resort. The official golf page offers 20% off a Room and Golf Package for hotel guests, booked through the Golf Package Coordinator at 877-438-2929. No package prices are posted, and the online hotel engine doesn't sell golf. Golf groups playing CasaBlanca and/or Palms can get a free room and golf for the group leader, at CasaBlanca or sister property Virgin River Casino & Lodge.
The CasaBlanca golf package guide works through the room-plus-golf math.

Questions golfers ask
Which is better, CasaBlanca or the Palms?
It depends on what you want. CasaBlanca is the harder course (141 slope from the tips, Nevada Open host, water on 13 holes) and sits next to the resort. The Palms is cheaper ($134 vs $160 on fall 2026 mornings, seen October 2026) and has a canyon back nine with big drops, which is the main reason to play it.
Is Palms Golf Club in Mesquite or Arizona?
Arizona. It is marketed as a Mesquite course, but it sits at 530 Peppermill Palms Blvd in Littlefield, Arizona, just across the state line, and the whole course is east of the line. It is 7 minutes from downtown Mesquite and 11 minutes from CasaBlanca Resort by road.
Who owns CasaBlanca and Palms golf courses?
Both are owned by Mesquite Gaming, which also owns CasaBlanca Resort and Virgin River Casino & Lodge. They share one online booking engine (rGuest, up to 120 days ahead) and one room-and-golf program through a Golf Package Coordinator at 877-438-2929.
How much does it cost to play CasaBlanca and Palms?
On the official booking engine (seen October 23, 2026), CasaBlanca was $160 before about noon to 1 PM in fall 2026, dropping to $130 from November 18. The Palms was $134, dropping to $109 from about November 19. Carts are included at both. 2027 peak prices were not loaded yet.
What time zone is the Palms Golf Club on?
The course is in Arizona, which stays on Mountain Standard Time all year, so from November 1, 2026 to March 14, 2027 an Arizona clock reads one hour ahead of Mesquite. Sources disagree on which clock the winter tee sheet uses, so confirm when you book. From mid-March to early November the clocks match.
Are CasaBlanca and Palms closed for the Nevada Open?
Their public tee sheets were. The 2026 Nevada Open ran November 3-5, with rounds at both courses and the final at CasaBlanca, followed by the II-Man Fall tournament, and the online sheets showed no public times from November 3 to 7, 2026.
