The key number: Laughlin summer golf: how to play the heat and the cheapest rates

Laughlin summer golf means dawn tee times, highs of 105-110F and the lowest green fees of the year. Laughlin Ranch drops to $80-$87 in midsummer against $169 at peak, and El Rio sold $45-with-cart rounds in August 2026. Book the first tee time, ride a cart, carry extra water and finish before late morning.

Laughlin summer golf is for locals, bargain hunters and early risers. Tee sheets are quiet, rates bottom out and casino rooms are cheap on weeknights. The catch is heat that rules out an afternoon round.

Quick facts

  • Highs: about 95F in May, 106F in June, 110F in July, 108F in August and 102F in September.

The heat, plainly

The Colorado River valley from Laughlin to Lake Havasu City is one of the hottest places in the US. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for Laughlin give a June high of 105.5F, a July high of 109.8F and an August high of 108.4F. The July low is 81.9F. Lake Havasu City is within about 1F.

That changes how you play. Laughlin summer golf is first-light golf:

  • Book the first tee time. Several courses open at dawn. Mojave Resort opens daily from dawn to 5 PM, and Rivers Edge in Needles runs dawn to 5 PM.
  • Ride a cart. Several courses require one anyway. At Laughlin Ranch and Iron Wolf, walking is not allowed.
  • Carry far more water than usual. Refill at every chance.
  • Finish before late morning. By then the temperature is climbing toward the afternoon peak.

From July to September, monsoon humidity and occasional thunderstorms bring lightning, dust and flash flooding in washes. Leave the course when lightning is near.

Which courses change their summer schedule

Los Lagos in Fort Mohave runs summer hours of 5 AM to noon from June 1 to September 9. After that it closes September 10-23 for its annual overseed, according to a directory listing.

Huukan, also in Fort Mohave, is closed for the summer. Operator pages say it is closed from June 1 until overseeding is complete, approximately October 1. Its sister course, Mojave Resort, stays open: its season note says summer rates drop sharply because of the heat, though no figure is published. The Mojave Resort course guide covers the layout.

Emerald Canyon near Parker sets its summer season from June 1 to October 31 but had not posted summer prices. It also closes October 1 to November 1, 2026 for overseed.

The best summer value

Laughlin Ranch is the standout. The area's top course, a hilly Druzisky layout, falls from $169 at peak to $87 Friday to Sunday and $80 Monday to Thursday from July 12 to September 20. Local residents with proof of a local ZIP code pay $50 to $60 in midsummer. The club app also sends Daily Deals text alerts and runs a tee time waitlist. The Laughlin Ranch course guide has all seven rate bands.

El Rio in Mohave Valley, a long Matt Dye course at 7,143 yards from the back, was $45 with cart on GolfNow for August 7-11, 2026. It has since dropped off GolfNow, so call 928-768-3574.

Cerbat Cliffs, the Kingman municipal course about 50 minutes from the Laughlin bridge, had a $50-with-cart Hot Deal on August 23, 2026. The Cerbat Cliffs course guide has its card.

Dress for the heat, within the rules

Heat does not relax dress codes. Mojave Resort asks for a collared shirt and bans tank tops and cut-offs. Laughlin Ranch, El Rio, Iron Wolf and Cerbat Cliffs all list collared shirts, and Laughlin Ranch, Iron Wolf and Cerbat Cliffs also rule out denim. Light, collared performance shirts, a wide-brimmed hat and plenty of sunscreen cover both the rules and the sun.

Summer at the Lake Havasu end

Lake Havasu City runs within about 1F of Laughlin, so the same first-light rules apply. Lake Havasu Golf Club posts a single 2026/2027 season table with no separate summer rates, and its after-3 PM price ($50 on the West, $48 on the East) lands in the hottest part of the day. Call 928-855-2719 for summer pricing. One Havasu furnished rental listing asked $1,500 a month in summer against $1,750 in winter, a small saving next to the drop in green fees.

Summer rooms and stays

Casino hotels on Casino Drive price by day of week more than by season, and stay cheap in summer except on holiday weekends. Aggregators put Laughlin weeknights at about $55 and weekends at about $93 in October 2026 snapshots. A July 2026 review quoted a $55.99 average at the New Pioneer for Monday to Thursday. Most casino hotels add a nightly resort fee of roughly $18 to $27.

For a longer summer stay, Vista Del Sol RV Resort in Bullhead City listed April to September 2026 rates of $58 a night, $294 a week or $884 a month for a standard site. Prices change, so confirm before you book.

Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day weekends fill the river and Lake Havasu with boaters. Rooms and campgrounds book up and prices rise, while the tee sheets stay quiet.

Summer evenings

Afternoons are too hot for golf, so plan them indoors or on the water. Back Nine Golf in Lake Havasu City has indoor simulators, the only ones found on our map, and works for summer evenings. In Laughlin, the Riverside's bowling center, cinema and free classic car collection are the main indoor options. Iron Wolf in Havasu runs Friday pool parties in summer.

Is Laughlin summer golf worth a trip?

For a dedicated golf trip, usually not: August in particular is not a month to plan around. But if you are already on the river, or you want the area's best course at half price, a few dawn rounds work well. May and early September are the shoulder edges, with summer rates and slightly less heat, though September brings the first overseed closures and Laughlin Ranch jumps to its top band on September 21.
