Course stamp: Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort: Snow Mountain, Sun Mountain and Wolf compared

The Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort is three Pete Dye courses on tribal land off US-95, about 37 minutes northwest of the Strip. Snow Mountain is the friendliest, Sun Mountain sits in the middle, and Wolf is the long, hard one at 7,604 yards and a 149 slope. All three are public and book online.

This guide compares the three courses, explains booking and the Clark County resident rule, sets out the fees on record (old ones, so check), and covers where to stay and what to pair with a Paiute day.

Only Wolf has a published rating and slope in our files. All three are Dye desert courses with pot bunkers and railroad ties, set under the Spring Mountains.

The Wolf course

Wolf is the reason most visiting groups make the drive. At 76.3/149 from 7,604 yards it is one of the stiffest tests anyone can book in the valley. Our files give no ratings for its shorter tees, so ask the shop which set matches your group before you tee off; most mid-handicaps will not want the tips.

Wolf also carried the highest price on the old listing, $109 against $89 for the other two. Even if those numbers have moved, the gap tells you where the demand is. See the Wolf course guide.

Play it if your group has low handicaps or wants the big test of the trip.

Snow Mountain and Sun Mountain

Snow Mountain opened in 1995 and is the original Paiute course. It is described as the friendliest of the three: wide and fair, and good value for mixed groups. If your foursome runs from single digits to 25, start here. See the Snow Mountain course guide.

Sun Mountain sits between Snow and Wolf in difficulty. Sources disagree on its opening year, putting it anywhere from 1995 to 1997. It is the natural partner for Wolf on a Dye day: one test, one breather.

Booking at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort

Visitors book on the resort's EZLinks site. Clark County residents book through a separate resident site and get resident rates, but only with a Nevada ID or a seasonal resident ID, and only within a 7-day window. Book outside the window and you pay the rack rate. The resident amounts are not published.

Two practical points:

  • Cancellation: the resort lists a 48-hour policy, so a group that changes plans late pays.
  • Non-resident window: not published. For a peak-season trip, check the sheet as soon as your dates are set.

For how resident rates work across the valley, see our Las Vegas golf resident rates guide, and for booking systems and windows, Las Vegas tee times.

Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort rates

Our files hold only one set of prices for the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, from an undated listing: $89 for Snow Mountain or Sun Mountain and $109 for Wolf. Treat them as old. Current prices are in the booking engine.

What the season files say about Las Vegas pricing in general:

  • Spring (March to May) and fall (October to mid-November): peak golf and the highest green fees.
  • December to February: cooler and cheaper, with frost delays on early tee times.
  • June to September: very hot, dawn tee times and the cheapest rates.

For a winter trip, book mid-morning rather than first light: December averages about five nights below freezing at the airport, and frost delays are common on early tee times. For fees across the valley by season, see Las Vegas golf rates.

Overseed at Paiute

All three courses are bermuda overseeded with rye. The 2026 overseed dates were not published: the resort announced a fall maintenance schedule without dates. Valley-wide, most courses close or play temporary greens for two to three weeks between late August and October, so call before booking a September or early October round. Our Las Vegas golf overseed guide has the dates that were published.

Where to stay for Paiute golf

The resort is a long way from the Strip by Las Vegas standards. A northwest base cuts the drive in half.

JW Marriott Summerlin32 min31 min$50.85
Red Rock Casino Resort33 min32 min$62.15
MGM Grand (Strip)40 min38 min$56.69

Santa Fe Station on US-95 is the nearest casino hotel to the Paiute courses. No hotel in our files sells a Paiute package. Room rates were not captured for any of these.

Snowbirds in an RV can use Hitchin' Post RV Park on the north side, 36 to 37 minutes away, though Paiute is not its closest golf.

Getting to Paiute from the Strip

Plan on a car. The travel files say a rental car makes sense for Henderson, Summerlin, Boulder City and the outlying courses, and they name Paiute among those. A Strip group can share one car or van for golf days and use ride-hail or taxis the rest of the time; no price comparison was made for this guide.

The drive is 37 to 38 minutes from the Strip at Flamingo Rd with no traffic, out the northwest side of the valley on US-95. Leave extra time in Grand Prix week (November 19-21, 2026): in past editions, road closures and grandstand work around the Strip disrupted traffic for weeks around the race.

In summer, book the first tee time. Las Vegas averages about 17 days over 100F in June, 26 in July and 25 in August, and sunrise in those months is about 5:25 to 6:00 a.m.

Pairing Paiute with other courses

Three Dye courses in one place make an easy 36-hole day: Wolf in the morning and Snow or Sun Mountain after lunch, without moving the car.

For a second day on the same side of town:

  • Painted Desert: a budget Arcis public course by Jay Morrish (1987), 5 minutes from Santa Fe Station. See the Painted Desert course guide.
  • TPC Las Vegas: Bobby Weed canyon golf in Summerlin, about $175 weekday and $195 weekend before noon in a 2026 third-party guide (approximate), 17 minutes from Santa Fe Station.

More choices on this side of the valley are in north Las Vegas golf and Summerlin golf courses, and the ranked list is in best golf courses in Las Vegas.

Which Paiute course to play

The Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort suits most groups; pick by handicap:

  • Low handicaps: Wolf, from tees you can actually play.
  • Mixed group: Snow Mountain.
  • One day, 36 holes: Wolf plus Sun Mountain.
  • Budget: whichever course is cheapest on the sheet that day; the old listing had Snow and Sun $20 below Wolf.

Plan it on the map

Open the Las Vegas golf map to see the three Paiute courses with the northwest hotels and drive times, and line them up with Painted Desert and TPC Las Vegas for a west-side trip. The $49 plan puts each round on a day that works around overseed and your base.
