Scorecard: Coyote Springs Golf Club: the Nicklaus course an hour north of Las Vegas

Coyote Springs Golf Club is a Jack Nicklaus Signature course in open desert about 67 minutes north of the Strip, at 3100 State Route 168. It is public, with separate resident booking for Nevada and Washington County, Utah residents, and the only price in our Las Vegas files is a golfer's $125 round in January 2026. It suits groups with a car.

This guide covers the drive and where to start it, what we know about the course and its prices, booking, when to go, and how to pair it with a Mesquite side trip or other outlying golf.

Quick facts

  • Course: Jack Nicklaus Signature; 18 holes; open desert north of Las Vegas.
  • Address and phone: 3100 State Route 168, Coyote Springs, NV 89037; 725-210-5400.
  • Access: public; separate resident booking for Nevada licence or ID holders and Washington County, UT licence holders.
  • Price on record: $125, paid by one golfer on January 18, 2026 (Top100GolfCourses review).

The drive from Las Vegas

From Drive to Coyote Springs
Hitchin' Post RV Park (north side)55 min, 48.8 mi
Aliante Casino + Hotel (North Las Vegas)60 min, 52.6 mi
The Strip at Flamingo Rd67 min, 58.7 mi
Santa Fe Station (northwest)67 min, 57.9 mi
MGM Grand68 min, 59.9 mi
Wynn Las Vegas68 min, 57.9 mi
Red Rock Casino Resort (Summerlin)75 min, 65.0 mi

Free-flow router times; no traffic included. Starting on the north side of the valley saves 10 to 20 minutes against the Strip or Summerlin.

Plan on a car. The travel files say a rental car makes sense for the outlying courses and name Coyote Springs among them, and there is no hotel at the course in our files. A Strip group can rent one car or van for the day. For the airport and rental-car side of a trip, see flights to Las Vegas for golf.

The Coyote Springs Golf Club course

Coyote Springs is a Nicklaus Signature design in open desert, and our files rate it worth the trip for a group that wants an empty tee sheet and a day out of town. It is not on the Las Vegas 3D board; it sits off-map to the north, which is part of the appeal.

What our Las Vegas research does not hold: tee yardages, ratings, slopes, par, opening year or an overseed schedule. The greens were aerated May 12-13, 2026, followed by about two weeks of discounted rates. For the course detail, see the Coyote Springs course guide and our Mesquite guide to the Coyote Springs golf day trip, which covers tees, fall rates and replays.

Coyote Springs Golf Club rates and booking

Item What our files show
Price paid$125, January 18, 2026 (one golfer's Top100GolfCourses review)
Resident specialsyes, for Nevada and Washington County, UT residents; amounts not shown
Post-aeration discountabout two weeks of discounted rates after May 12-13, 2026
Bookingcoyotesprings.com, separate resident and non-resident booking

One reported round is a thin basis, so treat $125 as a January data point, not a rate card. Las Vegas-area prices are highest in spring and fall and lowest in summer, and they change by day.

Residents need a Nevada driver's licence or ID, or a Washington County, Utah licence, for the resident booking. Snowbirds who hold a Nevada ID should ask what the resident specials are. See Las Vegas golf resident rates.

A Coyote Springs day from the Strip

The arithmetic is simple: 67 minutes each way from the Strip at Flamingo Rd with no traffic, so about 2 hours 15 minutes of driving on top of the round. For a 9:00 a.m. tee time, leave the Strip by about 7:30 a.m. to allow time to check in, and later in Grand Prix week (November 19-21, 2026) allow more, since road closures around the Strip have disrupted traffic in past editions.

In winter the short days matter: sunset is about 4:27 p.m. in mid-December, so book a morning tee time to leave room for the drive back in daylight. In summer the opposite applies: sunrise is about 5:25 to 6:00 a.m. from June to August, and highs average about 99F to 105F, so take the first time of the day and leave before dawn.

When to go

The weather files cover the airport, not Coyote Springs, so read these as a guide to the region:

  • October and November: about 81F and 67F highs at the airport, dry. Note that sunset is about 4:33 p.m. by mid-November, which with a two-hour round trip leaves less slack for a late start.
  • December to February: cool, cheaper season; frost delays common on early tee times in the valley. The one price on record is from January.
  • March to May: spring peak; about 71F in March and 79F in April.
  • June to September: very hot; book the first tee time and carry far more water than usual.

On overseed, our Las Vegas research has no schedule for Coyote Springs. Most valley courses close or play temporary greens for two to three weeks between late August and October; call before a September trip and see Las Vegas golf overseed.

Pairing Coyote Springs with Mesquite

Mesquite is a golf town of its own, about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas on I-15, and has its own map at Lie of the Land Mesquite. Our Las Vegas files note Mesquite as a common add-on: two or three days there after Vegas, with cheaper rounds and quieter tee sheets. From the Strip it is 92 minutes and 85.8 miles.

For a group moving on to Mesquite with a car, Coyote Springs can be the round on travel day; our Mesquite guides give the drive between the two. Our Las Vegas to Mesquite golf guide plans the side trip, and our Mesquite guide Wolf Creek vs Coyote Springs compares it with Mesquite's best-known course.

Paiute, Wolf course38 minPete Dye, 7,604 yds at 76.3/149
Aliante26 minGary Panks public course in North Las Vegas, 2 minutes from the Aliante Casino

Mountain Falls in Pahrump is a cheap daily-fee for snowbirds staying west of the valley; see the Mountain Falls course guide. For something closer, Paiute and Aliante are both on the north and northwest side. More in north Las Vegas golf.

Laughlin, about 90 miles south, is another Lie of the Land town; see Las Vegas to Laughlin golf.

Who Coyote Springs Golf Club suits

  • Groups with a car who want a quiet Nicklaus course and a day away from the Strip.
  • Vegas-then-Mesquite trips: a round on the way north.
  • North-side bases: from Aliante or Hitchin' Post it is about an hour.

It does not suit a carless Strip group or anyone short on time: allow over two hours of driving on top of the round.

Plan it on the map

Open the Las Vegas golf map to see Coyote Springs Golf Club off the north edge of the board with drive times from your hotel, and Mesquite beyond it. The $49 plan can fit a Coyote Springs day or a Mesquite leg into the trip.
