Summerlin: Badlands and Bear's Best

Badlands, a 27-hole course in the Queensridge area, closed in December 2016. After years of litigation the city settled, and in February 2025 the city council approved about 1,480 Lennar homes on the site.

Bear's Best, the Jack Nicklaus replica-holes course from 2001 at 11111 W Flamingo Rd, is not closed for good, but it is gone from the public list. It sold, reportedly for $30.5 million; public play ended around the end of June 2025; and it is being rebuilt by Jackson Kahn Design as the private Amara Golf & Social Club. A listing showed it closed for renovations with reopening TBD. Status unclear, and membership only once it reopens.

Northwest and North Las Vegas: Silverstone and Craig Ranch

Silverstone closed in September 2015, and its 27 holes have sat dormant since. A deed restriction requires golf use unless 75% of Silverstone Ranch homeowners agree otherwise, and the Review-Journal reported a 2025 auction sale; a 2026 real-estate guide says it remains closed. Craig Ranch, a 1962 J.C. Stimson course, closed in 2009 and is now Craig Ranch Regional Park.

Closed for overseed is not closed for good

Nearly every Las Vegas course closes or plays temporary greens for two to three weeks between late August and October while its bermuda is overseeded with rye, followed by 10 to 14 days of cart path only. 2026 examples: Angel Park Palm closed August 24 to September 4; The Legacy September 14 to October 2; the three Golf Summerlin courses September 8 to 28. Our Las Vegas golf overseed guide has the dates course by course, and Las Vegas golf courses lists every course open to visitors.
