A Temecula buddies golf trip comes down to three decisions: where the group sleeps, which one round is the splurge, and who drives on wine day. Book a Pechanga room and a foursome saves $160 per Journey round. Everything else is cheaper, closer and easier than the splurge.

Tee times for a group
- Journey: book the room first; tee times open seven days ahead on Quick18, 7am to 3pm daily.
- Redhawk and the Legends: GolfNow. Prepaid is non-refundable at Redhawk; at the Legends, parties under four are paired with other prepaid golfers. A full foursome avoids that.
- CrossCreek: CrossCreek is a hilly Arthur Hills course 14 minutes from Old Town, run by JC Golf, which has a group enquiries line (760-591-3248). Rates were not published. See the CrossCreek course guide.
- Temecula Creek Inn: Temecula Creek Inn has 27 holes in three loops, so confirm which two nines you are on.

Wine day, safely
Give one afternoon to tasting, after golf. Use a designated driver, a tour van or ride service, never a group member who played 18 and tasted. Wine-country weekends are crowded, and reservations are recommended for groups. Read Temecula golf and wine trip.
A sample schedule
- Thursday: arrive, Legends in the afternoon, Old Town dinner.
- Friday: Journey in the morning at the hotel rate, tasting with a driver in the afternoon.
- Saturday: Redhawk early, then home or a second round.

- Set a green-fee cap per player before booking.
- Pay for the room separately from golf so the Journey saving is clear.
- Pick one splurge round, not three.

Bigger groups
For eight or twelve players, you need two or three tee times. Journey's window is seven days, so book as soon as it opens. CrossCreek's manager has a group line. Prepaid slots at the Legends pair parties of fewer than four with strangers, so book in fours. Every player staying at Pechanga gets the $175 Journey rate, a $40 saving per round, so ask for a group block.
Money rules that stop arguments
- Pay the Journey saving to whoever books the room.
- Split the car costs evenly.
- Give each player a daily cap for green fees.
Tee choices that keep a group together
Redhawk has six sets of tees, from Gold at 7,071 yards (74.4/139) to Red at 5,250 (66.2/115). CrossCreek has seven, from Black at 6,780 yards (73.5/140) down to Green at 4,483 (62.6/104). On both, a group with a 20-stroke handicap spread can play from different tees without anyone feeling carried. Ask the pro shop to set a mixed foursome on the same sheet.
What a group should not assume
- That a resort course accepts non-guests at the guest rate. Journey does not: it is $215 public. Temecula Creek Inn takes non-guests, but stay-and-play rates are not confirmed.
- That the Golf Club of California is open to the public. Sources disagree; call 760-451-3737.
- That the private clubs are an option. Bear Creek, Canyon Lake, Rancho Monserate and Pauma Valley are members and guests only. See private golf clubs in Temecula.
- That a casino stay is cheap on weekends. Casino hotel weekend rates run high.
Long weekend or four days
A fourth day suits a Soboba Springs outing: 50 minutes from Old Town, 7,339 yards, and the Soboba Casino Resort is 4 minutes from the course. Rates are $100 Monday to Thursday and $125 Friday to Sunday with cart. Or take the side trip to the desert; see Temecula vs Palm Springs golf.

How much can a foursome save at Journey at Pechanga?
The hotel-guest rate is $175 against $215 for the public, so each player saves $40, or $160 for a foursome per round, by booking a Pechanga room. The resort page does not say whether a cart is included in either rate.
How far ahead can a group book tee times?
Journey allows booking up to seven days ahead on its Quick18 page. The Golf Club of California reportedly takes public players seven days out (aggregator, unverified). Pala Mesa books through TeeItUp. For other courses, windows are not published, so call.
Who handles group bookings at CrossCreek?
Listings show JC Golf as manager, with a group enquiries number of 760-591-3248. CrossCreek is Arthur Hills, 14 minutes from Old Town, with no current rates found.
Will my group be paired with strangers?
At the Legends, prepaid GolfNow parties under four are paired with other prepaid golfers. A full foursome avoids that.
Is wine tasting fine for a golf group?
