Courses west to east: Menifee Lakes golf: The Palms vs The Lakes, tees, water and what they cost

Menifee Lakes golf means two Ted Robinson Sr. courses sharing one clubhouse: The Palms, a palm-lined course with less water, and The Lakes, a tougher, wetter strategic layout. Both are about 24 minutes from Old Town Temecula, and neither posts current rates online, so call before you book.

If you have only one round to play in Menifee, pick The Palms for a friendly mixed-handicap group or The Lakes if you want water on nearly every hole. This guide compares the two on the numbers we have, explains the pricing gap, and shows where Menifee Lakes fits in a Temecula trip. Everything was read in November 2026.

Quick facts

  • Designer: Ted Robinson Sr. for both courses.
  • The Palms: opened 1994, par 72, Black tees 6,567 yards (71.4/123).
  • The Lakes: opened 1990, Blue tees 6,528 yards (71.5/124).
  • Access: sold to the public (GolfPass says semi-private).

The Palms vs The Lakes

Both courses share a clubhouse and driving range, but the tee sheets are separate, so confirm which course you are booking. The big difference is water.

Short teesRed 5,471, 66.1/109Red 5,453, 66.5/111

The numbers are close, but the feel is not. The Palms is the one our record points to for groups with mixed handicaps, since it has less water. The Lakes is described as moderate to hard for high handicaps because of water on nearly every hole. If your group includes a few beginners, take The Palms. If you like to be forced into decisions off the tee, The Lakes is the one.

One note on data quality: the Palms tee data comes from GolfPass and was not cross-checked, and a Black-tee par of 70 appears in one listing against the card's par 72. Treat the numbers as guides and check the scorecard.

Hole by hole, The Palms starts with par 4s of 400, 386 and 381 yards, and its par 5s run 465 to 521. The third hole is the number 1 handicap at 381 yards.

What does Menifee Lakes cost?

No 2026 rates are published online. GreenFeeTracker says the club does not post rates, so we only have older, undated numbers:

Source Figure
1golf.eu (undated)$49 weekday, $69 weekend
GolfLink estimatenear $60 with cart
Clubcall (951) 672-4824

That puts Menifee Lakes at the low end of the area if those figures still hold, but they may not. Our take on the record is that it "should be better value than most Temecula courses," with the caveat that you should call. Use the figures as a sanity check, not a budget. For a wider price view, see the Temecula golf rates guide and the cheap golf in Temecula guide.

Where Menifee Lakes fits

Menifee sits north of Temecula. The two Menifee Lakes courses give you 36 holes in one place, which makes it easy to build a two-round day or a pair of days from a single hotel. The Menifee golf courses guide covers the area, including the North Golf Course in Sun City and the closed Cherry Hills.

For bases, the closest hotel in our data is the Fairfield Inn & Suites Menifee, about 8 minutes (3.3 miles) from the course. Sun City Menifee 55+ rentals are about 13 minutes away, which matters to snowbirds: see Temecula snowbird rentals. The Hampton Inn & Suites Murrieta Temecula is 18 minutes away (11 miles), if you would rather stay near Temecula.

Rates for the Sun City course were not found in November 2026. The Legends is much closer to Old Town, and its prepaid prices are dated; see the Legends guide. If you want the wine country close by, Menifee Lakes is a longer drive than the courses on the Temecula side, so it suits a day with other Menifee or Sun City stops better than a quick morning round.

Tips for booking

  • Call (951) 672-4824 rather than assuming a price.
  • Ask which course, The Palms or The Lakes, your tee time is on.
  • Ask about twilight and cart rates, since none are published.
  • Consider both courses over two mornings if you are staying in Menifee.

Questions golfers ask

What is the difference between The Palms and The Lakes?

The Palms (opened 1994) is palm-lined with less water than The Lakes, though water is in play on every front-nine hole and there are many fairway bunkers on the back. The Lakes (opened 1990) is strategic and risk-reward, with water on nearly every hole, 100-plus bunkers and mature trees. Both are Ted Robinson Sr. designs.

Which Menifee Lakes course is easier?

The Palms is the gentler choice, rated 71.4/123 from the Black tees at 6,567 yards. The Lakes is 71.5/124 from the Blue tees at 6,528 yards, and its water makes it harder for high handicaps. The Palms suits groups with mixed handicaps.

How much does Menifee Lakes cost?

No 2026 rates are published online. Undated third-party listings range from $49 weekday and $69 weekend to a GolfLink estimate near $60 with cart. Call the club on (951) 672-4824 for the current rate, since these figures are old and not verified.

Are the two courses on the same tee sheet?

No. They share a clubhouse and driving range, but the tee sheets are separate. Ask which course your tee time is on when you book.

Is Menifee Lakes public or private?

GolfPass lists it as semi-private, while GolfLink and GreenFeeTracker call it public. Green fees are sold to the public, so we treat both courses as public daily fee. There is no hotel stay that unlocks a rate.

How far is Menifee Lakes from Temecula?

About 24 minutes and 16.7 miles from Old Town Temecula, an estimate. The nearest hotel in our data is the Fairfield Inn & Suites Menifee, about 8 minutes away.

Is the Palms par 72 or par 70?

The card is par 72. One tee listing shows par 70 for the Black tees, so there is a conflict in the source data. Check the scorecard at the pro shop.
