Old Town and central Scottsdale on a budget
Old Town is the cheapest way to have dinner and bars on foot. Papago is 9 minutes from Old Town and Talking Stick's Piipaash 15. The Hilton Garden Inn and Hyatt Place were not on the resort-fee tracker; the Hyatt Place sits in the entertainment district, so it is better for nights out than quiet early tee times. Scottsdale Marriott Suites Old Town and Hotel Adeline each listed a $28.51 destination fee, and the Scottsdale Marriott Suites Old Town gives a group more room. Hotel Adeline is the stylish mid-price option on Scottsdale Rd.

North Scottsdale near TPC
The Scottsdale Marriott at McDowell Mountains is the value play for TPC Scottsdale: the same neighbourhood as the Fairmont Princess, 3 minutes from TPC Champions, with a $34.21 destination fee against the Princess's $62.69. Phoenix Open week rates still spike. Residence Inn Scottsdale North adds brand-standard kitchens 6 minutes from TPC, and SpringHill Suites across Scottsdale Rd is the budget suites option.

Tempe and the airport side
Tempe is often the cheaper alternative to Old Town for groups. Marriott Tempe at The Buttes had the lowest resort fee on the tracker at $17.11 and is close to Sky Harbor, Papago and the south Valley. Tempe Mission Palms is walkable to Mill Ave and 4 minutes from Grass Clippings, the lit executive course. ASU events and weekends can make it loud and pricey.

- Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino: cheaper than the Sheraton Grand, with a casino scene, 5 minutes from Whirlwind.
- Hilton Phoenix Chandler and Hyatt Place Chandler: near San Marcos and Whirlwind.

Talking Stick Resort charged $28.51 a night on the tracker, a lower fee than the Scottsdale luxury set, with 36 Coore and Crenshaw holes next door. We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort ran a summer 2025 promotion from $129 Sunday to Thursday and $159 Friday and Saturday, and sells stay-and-play packages.
