Drive times are free-flow minutes from downtown Naples. Google ratings are shared across a club's courses where they share a listing.
1. Tiburón: the best course, if you stay
Tiburón's two Norman courses are wide and flat with no rough: crushed-coquina waste areas, coquina-wall bunkers and lakes. The Gold is the tournament course, hosting the LPGA's CME Group Tour Championship (November 19-22, 2026) and the Grant Thornton Invitational (December 11-13, 2026). The Black is shorter but tighter, with a 147 slope from the back, and it hosts the Chubb Classic in February.
Access is the trade-off. Guests of The Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburón, which sits on the property, book tee times with the room; guests of the beach Ritz-Carlton, Naples take the free shuttle and book as resort guests. Fees are dynamic and not published; one undated European listing quoted $289. See the Tiburón Black course guide and our Tiburón Golf Club guide.
2. Stoneybrook: the best course anyone can book
Stoneybrook is a long, water-heavy Gordon Lewis and Jed Azinger course inside a residential community in Estero, and one of the stiffest public tests in the area. Most visitors belong on the Traditional tees (6,090 yards, 69.6/130), not the 7,314-yard Champions. It publishes a full 2026-27 card: $99 before noon from May to October, $130 in November and December and $199 from January to April, with twilight at $55, $70 and $105. Public tee times open 1 week ahead, and the club is cashless. More in the Stoneybrook course guide.
3. Lely Flamingo Island: the best public course in Naples itself
Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s only design in the area is a flat, watery resort course with big bunkers, 16 minutes from downtown. Flamingo Island and Lee Trevino's Mustang share Lely Resort's public tee sheet, so a group can play both from one base. Renters at GreenLinks Golf Villas get preferred tee times and discounts. See Lely Resort golf.
4. The Rookery at Marco: the JW Marriott's course
A long Robert Cupp course inside gated Fiddler's Creek, owned by the JW Marriott Marco Island. Resort guests book through the golf site and ride a free shuttle that runs every half hour from 6:30am to 3:30pm but must be reserved. Booking further ahead gets a lower dynamic rate. Its sister course, Hammock Bay, was regrassed with paspalum in a $4.8 million project. See the Rookery course guide.
5. Saltleaf: the easy-going upscale round
The former Raptor Bay was rebuilt by Raymond Floyd and reopened as Saltleaf around January 2024. It has no sand bunkers at all, raised greens, native areas and wind off Estero Bay. There is no full range, only warm-up nets. Add The Leaf, the walking-only par-3 nine. The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point is 4 minutes away, though Saltleaf mentions no Hyatt guest deal. See Saltleaf Golf Preserve.
The rest of the list
- Eagle Lakes: new Bimini bermuda fairways from summer 2024 and some of the best fall and twilight prices in Naples. Its 7,165-yard Gold tees rate 75.3/141.
- LaPlaya Golf Club: a quiet Robert Cupp course off Immokalee Road for guests of LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort and members. The course is not at the hotel; allow 10 to 15 minutes.
- Fort Myers Country Club: the 1917 Donald Ross course owned by the city. Keep expectations at municipal conditioning, but walking after 3pm cost $20 in November 2026.
- Panther Run: a long, open, quiet course in Ave Maria, about 55 minutes east. Worth it if you are staying east.
Two honourable mentions: Hibiscus, public only until April 2027, and ArrowHead, a plain, flat North Naples public course that anyone can book. Both are in public golf courses in Naples, and the cheapest options are in cheap golf in Naples.
When to play the top courses
Timing changes the value of every course here. Stoneybrook's morning rate is $99 from May to October, $130 in November and December and $199 from January to April, and the other courses follow the same pattern even where they do not publish a card. Tiburón has three tournament weeks: the Gold closes for the CME Group Tour Championship in November and the Grant Thornton Invitational in December, and the Black closes for the Chubb Classic, listed for February 11-14, 2027. When the Gold is closed, the Black usually carries the resort play, though that is not confirmed for 2026.
Summer is the cheapest time to play the best golf courses in Naples Florida, but afternoon storms arrive most days from June to September and many courses close for a week or more to aerify, so book the first tee times of the day.
Picking between them
- One splurge round: stay at a Ritz-Carlton for Tiburón, or the JW Marriott for the Rookery. Compare the resorts in Naples golf resorts.
- Best golf without a resort stay: Stoneybrook and Flamingo Island on back-to-back days.
- A mixed-ability group: Saltleaf plus The Leaf.
