March: the best weather, at peak price
March is among the best weather of the year on the river: upper 70s by day, low 50s at dawn and only about three days with measurable rain. The overseeded rye is in top shape. Early tee times are comfortable, unlike the frosty starts of January.
It is also the last full month of winter-visitor season, so tee sheets are busy and rates sit at the top. Laughlin Ranch charges its highest band, $169 Friday to Sunday and $159 Monday to Thursday, from February 22 to April 11. Local residents with a local ZIP code pay $95 to $105. The Laughlin Ranch course guide has the full table.
On March 14, 2027 Nevada moves to daylight time. From then on, Laughlin and the Arizona courses show the same clock. Before that date, a 9:00 AM tee time in Bullhead City is 8:00 AM in a Laughlin casino. Our Laughlin time zone guide explains.
Lake Havasu spring break
College spring break comes to Lake Havasu City in March, with dates that vary by college schedule. Crowds gather on the water, at the Bridgewater Channel and on the Island. Local reports since about 2016 describe smaller student numbers and more families than in the 2000s peak, but weekends are still loud and Havasu room rates rise. The visitors bureau advises families to avoid the student gathering spots.
For golfers, the effect is mostly on rooms and restaurants. Lake Havasu Golf Club posts one season table, $94 public before noon on the West and $82 on the Desert East. Islander RV Resort charges 20% more on holiday and event weekends. If you want dinner at Shugrue's, at the foot of the London Bridge, book ahead in spring break and Desert Storm weeks.
Spring break has little effect on Laughlin. If Havasu rooms are tight, a Laughlin base is about 94 minutes from Lake Havasu Golf Club. The Lake Havasu Golf Club West course guide has its rates and memberships.
April: the shoulder month
April is mid-80s and nearly dry, with 0.17 inches of rain on average. Winter visitors leave through the month, tee times open up and rates ease at many courses. Laughlin Ranch steps down to $162 and $150 on April 12, and to $124 and $104 from May 24.
Emerald Canyon near Parker runs its winter season to April 30. In 2025-26 its winter rate was $80 for 18 with cart, or $90 if booked more than seven days ahead. The 2026-27 rates were not yet posted.
Start a little earlier in April than in March. By the end of the month, afternoons are warm enough that a dawn or early-morning tee time is the comfortable choice, a preview of Laughlin summer golf.
Late April: rally week and Desert Storm
The last week or so of April is the loudest of the year on the river.
Mayhem Motorcycle Rally. Bullhead City's rally ran Thursday to Sunday, April 23-26, 2026. It is the successor scene to the Laughlin River Run, which last ran in April 2019 and did not return after the pandemic. Mayhem is smaller than the River Run once was, but still busy: Bullhead City police reported 500 calls for service, 14 crashes (one fatal), 12 arrests and 61 citations over the 2026 rally. Expect heavy motorcycle traffic on SR 95, Casino Drive and the bridges, louder nights and higher weekend room rates. The 2027 dates were not published as of October 27, 2026.
Desert Storm. Lake Havasu City's performance-boat week usually runs Wednesday to Saturday in late April: April 22-25 in 2026 on a third-party calendar, and April 24-26 in 2025. It includes a Friday Parade of Power through the Bridgewater Channel and a Saturday shootout near Site Six, with a street party on McCulloch Boulevard. Havasu hotels fill and prices rise for the week.
Neither is a golf event, but both shape Laughlin golf in spring more than the weather does. The pressure is on rooms and roads. Book early or plan your spring trip for early or mid-April. Our Laughlin events guide lists the rest of the year.
Spring stays and the April price drop
Long-stay prices also fall as the season turns. Vista Del Sol RV Resort in Bullhead City listed January to March 2027 at $71 a night or $1,061 a calendar month for a standard site, and its April to September 2026 rates at $58 a night or $884 a month. Laughlin casino rooms price by day of week more than season, so a midweek spring stay on Casino Drive stays cheap, while rally weekend runs much higher and can sell out. Prices were seen in October 2026 and change.
Spring wind
NOAA publishes no wind normals for Laughlin, Bullhead City, Needles or Lake Havasu City, so there is no official monthly figure. Spring is commonly described as the windy season on the river. On flat, open courses such as Mojave Resort, the course notes say to expect wind. If a spring day blows out, Back Nine Golf in Lake Havasu City has indoor simulators.
