Laughlin events that move room prices and traffic

The Laughlin events that matter to golfers are not golf events. Late-April rally week in Bullhead City, Desert Storm boat week in Lake Havasu, the October Laughlin Desert Classic off-road race and New Year's Eve push room rates up and bring heavy traffic. The winter-visitor season, January to March, is what fills tee sheets.

Laughlin casino rooms are among the cheapest resort-style rooms in the West, and they price by day of week more than by season. Laughlin events are the exception. Here is the calendar, with what each one does to rooms, roads and golf.

Laughlin events by month

Dates are from event pages, news reports and the Lake Havasu tourism calendar, checked October 27, 2026. Dates for 2027 were not yet published for most events.

Late April: the loudest week on the river

Mayhem Motorcycle Rally. The Laughlin River Run once drew tens of thousands of riders to Laughlin. It last ran April 25-29, 2019 and did not return after the pandemic. The Mayhem Motorcycle Rally in Bullhead City now fills that slot. The 2026 rally ran Thursday to Sunday, April 23-26.

Mayhem is smaller than the River Run was, but still busy. Bullhead City police reported 500 calls for service, 14 crashes (one fatal), 12 arrests and 61 citations over the 2026 rally. Expect heavy motorcycle traffic on SR 95, Casino Drive and the bridges, louder nights and higher weekend room rates.

Desert Storm Poker Run and Shootout. One of the biggest performance-powerboat events in the US, usually Wednesday to Saturday in late April. A third-party calendar listed April 22-25, 2026; Arizona State Parks gave April 24-26 for 2025. A Friday Parade of Power runs through the Bridgewater Channel, a Saturday shootout runs near Site Six, and a street party fills McCulloch Boulevard. Havasu hotels fill for the week.

Neither event closes the courses, but both make rooms and roads harder. If you want April golf, early or mid-April is calmer. See Laughlin golf in spring.

October: an event-heavy start to the season

October packs three events into the weeks when courses are reopening from overseed.

The IJSBA World Finals, the jet ski world championship, ran October 3-11, 2026 in Lake Havasu City. Nine days of racing raise Havasu room demand.

The Laughlin Desert Classic, October 15-19, 2026, is a Best In The Desert / Unlimited Off-Road Racing desert race, not a golf event. The Aquarius is race headquarters and host hotel, with a festival and tech inspection in its parking lot. It fills Laughlin casino rooms that week, especially the Aquarius.

London Bridge Days wraps up the month in Lake Havasu City, with a parade on McCulloch Boulevard on October 24, 2026.

Winter: crowds come from the calendar, not events

From January to March, winter visitors from western Canada, the Midwest and the Pacific Northwest fill the RV resorts and monthly rentals from Bullhead City to Lake Havasu City. No current count of winter visitors was found. This season does more to tee sheets than any single event: morning tee times and season passes sell first.

Within that season, a few Havasu events add pressure. The Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair runs January 21-24, 2027. Winterfest, a street fair with 200-plus vendors on McCulloch Boulevard, is in February, with the 2027 date not yet published. College spring break arrives in March, with smaller student numbers than in the 2000s but still loud weekends and higher Havasu room rates. It has little effect on Laughlin.

Summer and the holidays

Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day weekends bring boating crowds to Lake Havasu, the Parker Strip and the river at Laughlin. Campgrounds, launch ramps and hotels book up and prices rise. Golf is quiet because of the heat; see Laughlin summer golf.

From late November to New Year's Day, Lake Havasu City runs a Festival of Lights and a lighted Boat Parade of Lights. Thanksgiving and Christmas to New Year weeks are busy with families and winter visitors, and Laughlin casino rooms fill for New Year's Eve.

Golf events on the river

No recurring pro or invitational golf event that moves prices was found anywhere from Laughlin to Lake Havasu. The golf calendar is local:

• Los Lagos in Fort Mohave listed a Ladies League on October 29, 2026 and weekly through November 26.
• Laughlin Ranch reopened from its 2024 overseed with a tournament on September 29. The Laughlin Ranch course guide has rates and booking.

For shows and concerts, the Laughlin Event Center behind the Edgewater and Aquarius hosts big outdoor acts, and the casino showrooms have their own calendars.

How to book around Laughlin events

Laughlin room prices peak on Friday and Saturday nights, holiday weekends and event weekends, so the simplest fix is to shift a golf trip to Sunday through Thursday. Golf itself rarely sells out because of them; it is the room, the restaurant table and the drive across the bridge that suffer.

• Avoid Friday and Saturday nights on event weekends if price matters; midweek rooms stay cheap.
• For late April, book early or skip the last week.
• For October, stay away from Desert Classic week if you want an Aquarius room, and check overseed dates.
• For a Havasu base, avoid March weekends and Desert Storm week.
• Join a casino players' club: casinos often send members free or discounted room offers.
