Course stamp: Rock Creek Golf Club, Fairhope: The Eastern Shore's Best Daily-Fee Value, With Fees, Tees and Booking

Rock Creek Golf Club, Fairhope, AL, is a semi-private Earl Stone course from 1993 that plays 6,915 yards at a 136 slope through rolling pines, about 57 minutes from Gulf Shores. Public times open 7 days ahead, and in October 2026 the price ran $89 in the morning and $41 to $47 after 2 PM, cart included.

It is probably the best daily-fee value on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay: well kept, hilly in a way coastal Alabama rarely is, and half price in the afternoon. This guide covers the course, the 2nd hole everyone talks about, tees, fees, booking and how to fit it into a Gulf Shores golf trip.

What is Rock Creek Golf Club Fairhope like?

Rolling pine-and-hardwood parkland with doglegs, wetlands and more elevation change than you'd expect anywhere near the Alabama Gulf Coast. The landing areas are generous on most holes, so the difficulty comes from the slope, the doglegs and the wetland carries rather than from tight fairways.

The back nine is the tougher half at a 139 slope from the Golds. The club says it has held a Golf Digest 4.5-star "Places to Play" rating since opening; that is a historic claim, not a current ranking.

The 2nd hole

The hole you'll remember is the 2nd, a 434-yard par 4. The tee shot drops 70 feet to the fairway, and the approach is a forced carry over wetlands to a green held up by a 30-foot bulkhead wall. It comes early, so warm up first. There is nothing like it on the beach courses.

Rock Creek tees and ratings

USGA ratings, checked October 2026.

Tee Yards Men (rating / slope) Women (rating / slope)
Gold6,91573.4 / 136
Blue6,34470.8 / 132
White5,92369.1 / 12774.2 / 133
Silver5,66467.9 / 12472.7 / 131
Green4,93364.5 / 11868.6 / 122

Even the Silver tees slope 124, so Rock Creek plays harder than its yardage suggests. Mid-handicaps should consider the Whites or Silvers; the Green tees at 4,933 yards are the gentle option.

How much does Rock Creek cost?

There is no published rate card. These are public prices from the foreUP tee sheet for two dates, read October 22, 2026. The tee sheet shows a $0 cart fee on a riding rate, so the cart appears to be included.

Time Sat, Oct 24, 2026 Tue, Oct 27, 2026
Morning$89$75 to $89
Late morning$73
Noon$65$57 to $59 (midday)
1 PM$59
2 PM$45$41 to $47 (after 2 PM)
3 PM on$41
9 holes$26 to $47$26 to $47

The pattern is simple: the price roughly halves after 2 PM. A $41 to $45 afternoon round at a course this good is one of the best deals in Baldwin County golf. Our twilight golf in Gulf Shores guide covers late-day rates across the area.

Also check GolfNow. Its prepaid hot deals ran about $31 to $57 with cart for mid to late October 2026, and sometimes undercut the course's own price for the same day. Peak spring (February to April) and summer prices are unknown because pricing is dynamic.

The club was also running a 50%-off initiation promotion on memberships in 2026, if you are local or a long-stay visitor.

How does Rock Creek compare with other Eastern Shore courses?

Prices were seen October 2026 and change. Drive times are free-flow road estimates from Hwy 59 and Beach Blvd in Gulf Shores.

Rock Creek and TimberCreek are both Earl Stone designs with similar slopes and prices, but Rock Creek has the better reviews and TimberCreek the longer booking window. See the TimberCreek course guide and our TimberCreek Golf Club Daphne post. The Lakewood courses at the Grand Hotel cost several times more; our Lakewood Azalea vs Dogwood guide covers which to pick, and the Lakewood Azalea course guide has the details.

How do you book Rock Creek Golf Club Fairhope tee times?

  • Public: 7 days ahead online through foreUP's "Public Tee Times" class.
  • Members: 21 days ahead. Prime weekend mornings can be taken before the public window opens.
  • GolfNow resells prepaid hot-deal times, sometimes cheaper than the course.
  • By phone: 251-928-4223.

Because the public window is short, plan your other rounds first and slot Rock Creek in once you are inside a week. Our Gulf Shores tee times booking guide compares windows across the area.

Stay-and-play: Jubilee Suites

Rock Creek sells a stay-and-play with Jubilee Suites, a bed and breakfast in Fairhope. It is a $160-per-person add-on to a suite booking and covers 18 holes, cart, range balls and a $20 food-and-drink card. Suite prices are not in our data.

The other Eastern Shore base is the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, about 21 minutes from Rock Creek, with Lakewood's 36 holes on site. Rooms showed about $591 to $596 a night for January 5-6, 2027, plus a 15% resort fee (a snapshot seen October 2026, not a quote).

From the beach, Hampton Inn Foley is the closest of our hotels at about 44 minutes. From the Hwy 59 hotels in Gulf Shores it is about 53 minutes, and from The Lodge at Gulf State Park about 59.

When is the best time to play Rock Creek?

Fairhope runs a little warmer than the beach by day and colder at night. NOAA 1991-2020 normals for Fairhope:

Month High Low Rain days
January62°F37°F11
March72°F46°F9
April78°F52°F8
July91°F70°F14
October81°F54°F7
November71°F44°F8

October and November are excellent, and March and April are prime. In winter, frost delays are possible on the Eastern Shore, so book mid-morning. In July and August, play early or take the cheap 2 PM rate and accept the storm risk. Rock Creek does not publish its turf type, overseed practice or closure dates.

Fitting Rock Creek into a Gulf Shores trip

An hour each way is a real commitment from the beach, so make it an Eastern Shore day:

  • Value day: Rock Creek after 2 PM, when it costs roughly half the morning rate.
  • Two-course day: Quail Creek in the morning (about 18 minutes from the Grand Hotel) and Rock Creek in the afternoon. Our Quail Creek Golf Course Fairhope post covers the city course, and 36 holes a day in Gulf Shores covers pairing courses.
  • Resort pairing: Lakewood in the morning and Rock Creek in the afternoon, with dinner at the Grand.

For the full area, see our Fairhope, Point Clear and Daphne golf guide and the 5-day Gulf Shores and Eastern Shore golf itinerary.

Who is Rock Creek Golf Club Fairhope best for?

  • Mid and low handicaps who want a test: 136 from the Golds and 139 on the back nine, with a forced wetland carry on the 2nd.
  • Value hunters who can play after 2 PM, when October 2026 rates fell to $41 to $47 with cart.
  • Groups spending a night on the Eastern Shore, who can pair it with Lakewood or Quail Creek without another long drive.
  • Golfers who are tired of flat courses. The 70-foot drop on the 2nd is not something the beach courses can offer.

It is less suited to beginners (even the 5,664-yard Silver tees slope 124 for men), to golfers who need to book weeks out (the public window is 7 days), and to anyone who wants to walk, since no walking policy is published.

Is Rock Creek Golf Club worth the drive?

If you are spending a day on the Eastern Shore, yes. Rock Creek Golf Club Fairhope gives you real elevation, a memorable par 4 and good reviews for $41 to $89. If you are based at the beach and only playing two or three rounds, the drive is harder to justify than the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach courses 10 to 30 minutes away.

Plan it on the map

Open the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach golf map, click Rock Creek and compare its drive from your hotel with the Grand Hotel's. That will tell you whether Rock Creek is a day trip or a reason to move to the Eastern Shore for a night.
