Cheap golf in Destin is mostly west and north of town. The lowest full-18 prices seen in October 2026 were about $34-$51 at Shalimar Pointe and $39-$58 at Bluewater Bay, both with cart, and the city's Fort Walton Beach courses often sit in the $40s to $60s. In Destin itself, Indian Bayou's afternoon times start near $75.
Destin's showcase courses rarely drop below $90, but timing helps: late afternoon, recovery weeks after aeration, and winter rate cards cut the price a lot. Every price below is a dated example from GolfNow, GolfPass or the course's own site. Rates are dynamic and change daily.

West of Destin: Shalimar Pointe and the city courses
Shalimar Pointe is the standout for cheap golf near Destin. It is a 1960s layout redesigned in 1986, with a $1.7 million renovation that reopened in June 2023 with new TifEagle greens, rebuilt bunkers and a new cart fleet. Prepaid times in October 2026 ran $33.99 to $50.99 with cart, and a September time was $35. From the 6,818-yard Black tees it is slope 135, so it is a real course, not a pitch-and-putt. See the Shalimar Pointe course guide.
The Fort Walton Beach Golf Club is the city-owned 36: the longer Pines, with all 18 greens replaced with TifEagle in a 2025 renovation, and the shorter, tree-lined Oaks. Pricing is dynamic and the club publishes no dollar amounts, but summer 2026 deals ran $36.99-$42.28 on the Pines and $36.90-$43.31 on the Oaks, and a local guide puts Oaks mornings around $58. Book on the club's Teesnap site, where rates lock when you book. The cart fee was $20 in August 2026, with a proposed rise to $32. Our Fort Walton Beach Golf Club guide has the rest.
North of the bay: Bluewater Bay and Rocky Bayou
Bluewater Bay is a Tom Fazio and Jerry Pate layout from 1981, and the closest course to Destin by road thanks to the Mid-Bay Bridge (toll). Late-October 2026 deals ran $38.99-$57.99 with cart. The price reflects the condition: GolfPass rates it 2.7 out of 5 from 1,412 reviews, and October 2026 reviewers reported bare fairways and patchy greens. Treat it as a budget round, not a showcase.
Rocky Bayou Country Club costs more ($109 for 18 with cart and range balls) but its 9-hole rate is $69, and active-duty and retired military get 10% off. It is the better-kept course on the Niceville side.
Destin's value round: Indian Bayou
Indian Bayou is the best answer to cheap golf in Destin itself. It is a mature, tree-lined 18 (Seminole and Choctaw nines) about 9 minutes from the harbor, with wide fairways and a reputation for pace: it was ranked #14 in GolfPass's top 25 US courses for pace of play in 2020. Afternoon GolfNow times in late October 2026 started at $74.99, against $160.99 for a Sunday morning. See the Indian Bayou course guide.
For comparison, Kelly Plantation ran $89.99-$118.99 on late-October 2026 deals, far below the $169.99-$179.99 seen on early-September mornings. If Kelly Plantation is on your list, autumn deals are the time.
Cheap rounds at Sandestin
Sandestin is not a budget resort, but its published 2026 table has several cheap windows:
- Recovery weeks: after aeration and overseeding, Baytowne is $69 for everyone (May 11-25, August 18-31, November 9-22), The Links $69 after aeration and $59 from November 10-23, and The Raven $89. Greens are punched or still recovering.
- Resort-guest rates: Baytowne is $75 for guests most of the year and The Links $69 in winter.
- Winter cards: the Snowbird card gives $45 plus tax at The Links and Baytowne from November 2026 to January 2027, with 9 holes after 1 PM at half rate.

Military and base golf
Gator Lakes on Hurlburt Field has been open to civilians since April 2023. Fill in the affidavit on myhurlburt.com, take it to the Visitor Control Center for a background check, and get a pass valid six months. The civilian green fee is not published online (one directory lists $36, unverified and undated). It has a covered Toptracer range and a 10-day booking window through Club Prophet. Eglin's courses are closed: the main course closed on December 1, 2025.
Cheap nines for families
Seascape in Miramar Beach is now a 9-hole resort course after its front nine closed for redevelopment, with $21.99-$34.99 deals and nine holes in under 1.5 hours, but poor recent condition reviews. Origins on 30A is a family short course with a $61 August 2026 deal listed as 9 holes. Both suit kids, not a golf trip.
What cheap golf in Destin costs you
The trade-off for cheap golf in Destin is usually condition or convenience, not the layout. Bluewater Bay and Seascape are cheap because recent reviewers found them in poor shape. Shalimar Pointe and the city courses are cheap partly because they are 25 to 29 minutes from Destin Harbor free-flow, and longer on busy Saturdays through Fort Walton Beach. If your group is based on Okaloosa Island or in Fort Walton Beach, that drive disappears, which is why value trips often base at the west end; see where to stay in Destin for golf.
How to pay less
- Book late in the day. Indian Bayou's afternoon deals were about half the morning price.
- Go in autumn. Kelly Plantation was about $50-$90 cheaper in late October than early September.
- Use the course's own site where it says so. Fort Walton Beach books on Teesnap, and Blackwater in Crestview says its lowest prices are on its own site.
- Read the refund terms. GolfNow Hot Deals are prepaid and refundable only with 24 hours' notice.
- Stay for a month. Shalimar Pointe's snowbird membership (October 1-March 31) is $450 for one month or $1,150 for three, single, with unlimited golf and cart. See Destin winter golf.
For every course's fees by season, read Destin golf rates, and for booking systems, Destin tee times. The Gulf Shores cheap golf guide covers the next golf town west.
