All 18 holes: Indian Canyons Golf Resort: North vs South, rates and overseed

Indian Canyons Golf Resort is a 36-hole public facility in south Palm Springs owned by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, with the classic 1961 North Course and the shorter, tighter South. It is the closest full-size public golf to downtown, about 7 minutes away. Posted October 2026 rates were $130 on the North and $150 on the South.

This guide compares the two courses, lists the rates seen with their dates, gives the 2026 overseed windows and covers where to stay nearby. Prices were seen in October and November 2026, and the resort's official site blocks automated reading, so some figures come from listings quoting it.

Indian Canyons North is a classic 1960s course at the foot of the San Jacinto Mountains, lined with palms and running through a mid-century neighbourhood. It is full length from the Blue tees, about 6,900 yards, but mostly open, so it plays fair for most handicaps.

Indian Canyons South is shorter and tighter, set against the mountains. GolfPass lists its build year as 2004 with a Casey O'Callaghan design. It was the pricier of the pair in October 2026, which is worth knowing because the North gives you more golf for less.

Two notes on these numbers. First, the spring tracker figures are lower than the October posted rates, which says more about different sources and times of day than about a cheap spring, so do not plan around them. Second, rates vary by season and time, and the official rates page could not be read directly. Check the tee sheet for your date. For context across the valley, see Palm Springs golf rates.

Overseed: early November means the North

Both courses are bermuda overseeded with rye. In 2026:

  • North: closed September 30, reopened October 30 (the resort's North Course page and a listing quoting the resort agree).
  • South: closed October 19 to November 17 (Arizona Golf Vacations' 2026 schedule and a listing quoting the resort).

So early-November visitors can only play the North. Both courses should be open from November 17. Read Palm Springs golf overseed.

Booking an Indian Canyons tee time

Book on the Indian Canyons Golf Resort website or on GolfNow. The booking window is not published, and the resort's site could not be read directly, so call the golf shop on Murray Canyon Dr if a date matters. GolfNow carried hot deals for October 2026 South Course times at $94 to $104 with cart, below the posted $150, so it is worth checking both before you pay. For how booking works across the valley, read Palm Springs tee times.

Who Indian Canyons suits

  • Golfers staying downtown: it is the closest full-size public course to the Palm Canyon Drive hotels, so you can tee off minutes after leaving the room.
  • Couples and mixed groups: low-120s slopes from the middle tees on both courses.
  • Snowbirds in Palm Springs rentals: a regular course close to home, paired with cheaper rounds at Tahquitz Creek.

It is not the cheapest round in town. In early November 2026, the Tahquitz Creek Resort Course, about 8 minutes from downtown, showed hot deals at $63.99 plus a fee. For a more modern daily-fee test, Escena Golf Club in north Palm Springs is about 10 minutes from downtown. Compare them in Tahquitz Creek golf and Escena Golf Club.

A Palm Springs-based weekend

For a group staying downtown, Indian Canyons Golf Resort anchors an easy three-round weekend with short drives: the North (7 minutes from downtown), the Tahquitz Creek Resort Course (8 minutes) and Escena (10 minutes). In the first half of November 2026 that combination works because all three are open; the South returns November 17 and the Tahquitz Legend around November 25.

Weather at the Palm Springs end

Palm Springs dawns are milder than the east valley's in winter: a normal January low of 47.6F at Palm Springs airport against 39.0F at Thermal, so first tee times here see fewer frost delays than La Quinta or Indio. The trade is a little more rain, about 4.6 inches a year at the airport against about 3 in the east valley, as winter storms spill over the San Jacinto Mountains. January and February each average around 3 rain days. November, with a normal high of 78.7F, is one of the best golf months.

The tribe also owns Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage, a casino resort about 20 minutes away with a $30 nightly resort fee and free parking, but no published hotel-guest golf perk at Indian Canyons was found. See where to stay in Palm Springs for golf.

Off the course

The Indian Canyons themselves, on Agua Caliente tribal land just south of town, have palm-oasis canyon hikes in Palm, Andreas and Murray canyons, and the Palm Canyon Trading Post at the head of Palm Canyon. There is a tribal entry fee and seasonal hours, so check before you go. It is an easy morning on a non-golf day. More ideas are in things to do in Palm Springs.

Plan it on the map

Open the Palm Springs golf map to see both Indian Canyons Golf Resort courses, the downtown hotels and the rest of the Palm Springs courses. The $30 plan puts the North and South on the right days around overseed, or into a weekly winter rotation for a longer stay.
