Lake Mary golf courses: Mayfair, Wekiva, Twin Rivers and the Seminole County clubs near Sanford airport

Lake Mary golf courses are a short list of public rounds and a longer list of private clubs. Mayfair Country Club in Sanford, a 1922 course with clear published rates, is the best bet; Wekiva, Twin Rivers, Sweetwater and Links of Lake Mary add cheap local golf. Heathrow, Alaqua and Tuscawilla are private. Lake Mary is about 27 minutes from downtown Orlando and near Orlando Sanford airport.

This is Seminole County, north of Orlando and about an hour from Disney, so it suits groups flying into SFB and visitors based north of the city more than park families. Prices were seen in November 2026 unless dated, and they change.

GolfNow "from" prices are the cheapest time on a single day. Drive times are free-flow and ignore traffic.

Mayfair Country Club

Mayfair is a daily-fee course in Sanford, managed by Down 2 Earth, and the club says it is one of Donald Ross's first designs. It opened in 1922. Its published 2026 rates, effective November 15, are among the clearest in the area:

All are 18 holes, riding. Summer rates were not published. Tee times go online up to 14 days ahead on the club site (powered by GolfNow), and there is a putting green and practice bunker. The 2pm twilight, under $36, is one of the best-value afternoon rounds in Seminole County. It is about ten minutes from SFB, which makes it the natural round for Allegiant and charter arrivals. Links of Lake Mary and Timacuan

Links of Lake Mary sells public tee times on GolfNow. Google Maps places it on the old Timacuan Golf & Country Club site around Timacuan Blvd, so it is likely the same course under a new name, but the club has not confirmed that. The research flags poor reviews (Google 3.7), so verify conditions before booking.

Timacuan itself is a 1987 Ron Garl course. In 2022 a 50-year lease was announced with a plan to go completely private, for members, families and guests only. In November 2026 timacuan.com was unavailable and the course was not on GolfNow under that name. Its status is unclear, so call first; it is not on our map as Timacuan.

Wekiva, Sweetwater and Twin Rivers

Wekiva Golf Club in Longwood is a rolling, tree-lined 1972 course with oaks and pines, more than 80 bunkers and water on three holes. It is semi-private and welcomes outside play. It is a par 72 of about 6,850 yards, and its greens were regrassed to Champion bermuda in 2012. The club rate page is dated January 2022 ($48 Monday to Thursday before noon, $65 at weekends) and is likely out of date; GolfNow showed tee times from $30 for November 5, 2026. Sweetwater Golf & Country Club in Apopka was a private community club and now sells public tee times under new owners. It is a 1975 Lloyd Clifton par 72, 6,238 yards from the Blacks, from $25 on GolfNow. Reviewers say the range is gone and conditions are uneven.

Twin Rivers Golf Club in Oviedo was recently bought by the City of Oviedo and is managed by Down 2 Earth. It is semi-private but welcomes all public play, on TeeItUp and GolfNow, from $34.95 for November 5, 2026. Its rates page lists a Super Twilight after 4pm (no rain checks), a Hometown Hero rate for military and Seminole, Orange and Lake first responders, and a college student weekend discount after 10am. Casselberry Golf Club is a short 1947 par 69 with a lighted range: $52 on weekday mornings and $64 at weekends, with a cart $40 extra, and twilight from $25 after 4pm. Its $399 monthly unlimited pass is one of the simplest snowbird deals in the area; carts are extra.

The private clubs

Seminole County has more private golf than public. None of these is open to a visitor without a member:

• Heathrow Country Club: the Heathrow community club, now run with the Legacy Club as one 36-hole membership. Member-guest only.
• The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes: formerly sold public tee times, but none were on GolfNow in November 2026. Treat it as member-guest.
• Alaqua Country Club: "totally private, by invitation only," in the club's words.
• Tuscawilla Country Club: a 1971 Joe Lee course in Winter Springs, 6,851 yards from the championship tees, run for members. No public tee-time link was found; the research suggests calling the club to ask about guest or trial play.

Closed courses in Seminole County

Three local courses on old lists are gone: Winter Springs Golf Club (closed around 2006), Deer Run in Casselberry (closed 2019) and Sabal Point near Longwood (closed for about a decade by 2016). See closed golf courses in Orlando.

Flying into Sanford (SFB)

Orlando Sanford International handled about 3.2 million passengers in 2025, against about 57.7 million at Orlando International. Allegiant is the main carrier, to about 59 US cities, mostly smaller Midwest, Northeast and Southern ones; seasonal Boston and Providence start February 13, 2027. There is no current Canadian or UK service in the table read: Flair's 2021 Sanford routes are gone, and TUI moved its UK Orlando flights to Melbourne from 2022. Where to stay

Rates were not read. The Courtyard is a business-park hotel that works for SFB flights; the Holiday Inn Express includes breakfast. Note that the two closest courses to the Courtyard are private.

When to play

NOAA's normals at Sanford are within about 1F of Orlando International every month: about 71F highs and 50F lows in January, and about 93F highs and 74F lows in July. Sanford has slightly more winter rain days, about 8 a month against 6 to 7. November is still the driest month, with about 1.9 inches. Mayfair's new rate table starts November 15, and January to April is peak demand. In summer, play early: June to September brings 16 to 17 rain days a month. See Orlando weather by month.

Around the round

Ford's Garage near I-4 in Sanford is a burger-and-beer stop handy for SFB arrivals. The PGA TOUR Superstore in Altamonte Springs, off I-4, suits Seminole County and Winter Park bases. Wekiwa Springs State Park, near the Apopka courses, has spring-fed swimming and kayaking, though parking can fill at weekends.
