Flights to Orlando for golf: the three airports

SFB, Orlando Sanford38 min, 27.1 mi60 min, 43.3 miMainly Allegiant; a few seasonal carriers
TPA, Tampa111 min, 90.7 mi96 min, 77.6 miNot checked for this guide

OSRM ignores traffic. I-4 through downtown and the attractions corridor, the park exits and Sand Lake Road and International Drive routinely add 15-45 minutes at rush hour and around park opening and closing.

MCO is the main airport for the whole area. Terminal C, opened in September 2022, handles international flights by non-US airlines and all JetBlue flights; Terminals A and B handle the rest, linked by a people mover. Rental cars are on site. The largest US carriers from June 2025 to May 2026 by passenger share were Southwest (24.0%), Delta (12.7%), Frontier (10.6%), Spirit (10.1%) and JetBlue (10.1%); a reference on the Wikipedia page reports that Spirit shut down in May 2026, which we did not check independently.

SFB is smaller and easier, with 3,166,417 passengers in 2025. Allegiant flies to about 59 US destinations, mostly smaller Midwest, Northeast and Southern cities, with seasonal Boston and Providence from February 13, 2027. No Canadian or UK service appears in its current table.

TPA is about an hour and a half from Disney on I-4, so it makes sense only for a much cheaper fare or a combined Tampa and Gulf coast trip. The Disney, ChampionsGate and Davenport side of the area is the closer end from Tampa.

OSRM estimates, queried November 4, 2026; OSRM tends to run long, and Disney Springs adds about 10-20 minutes. Ontario drivers usually cross at Windsor-Detroit or Sarnia-Port Huron and take I-75 south, then Florida's Turnpike south-east into Orlando from Wildwood. Quebec, eastern Ontario, New York and New England drivers usually come down the east coast to Daytona Beach and take I-4 west, which brings you in past Sanford and Lake Mary. Snow on I-75 in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee or on I-81 in Virginia can slow December and January trips. Auto Train runs from Lorton, Virginia to Sanford for east-coast drivers who want their car (schedule and fares not verified).

Once here, much of the road network is tolled: SR 417, SR 429, SR 528 and Florida's Turnpike are mostly all-electronic or cash-free, and rental-car toll programs add daily fees.
