Winter Park golf: the 1914 nine, Winter Park Pines, Dubsdread and the private clubs
Winter Park golf: the historic WP9 from $33, WP18 with cart from $55, Dubsdread near downtown, and why Interlachen and Country Club of Orlando are private.

Winter Park golf is short, cheap and old: the city's 1914 nine-holer (WP9) through the streets of Winter Park, the 18-hole Winter Park Pines (WP18), and Dubsdread, Orlando's 1924 city course a few minutes away. All three are public. Interlachen and the Country Club of Orlando are private. Winter Park is about 13 minutes from downtown Orlando and 35 from Disney Springs.
This is the north side of Orlando, away from the parks, and the best area for a quick round, a walk and a long lunch. Rates are from the city and club pages read in November 2026, and they change.
Quick facts
- WP9: a restored 1914 nine, par 35, 2,480 yards; $33-40 for non-residents in winter.
- WP18: a 1968 par 70; $55-60 with cart for non-residents in winter.
- Dubsdread: 1924, city-owned, 9 minutes from downtown; from $38.99 on GolfNow.
- Private: Interlachen Country Club and the Country Club of Orlando.
- Season pass: WP18's non-resident annual play pass is $1,650 (no cart).
- Closures: each city course shuts one Monday a month for maintenance.

Winter Park Golf Course (WP9)
WP9 is a 1914 nine-hole course threaded through old Winter Park beside the SunRail and Amtrak line, two churches and a cemetery. You cross the street six times a round. The course was restored in 2016 for about $1.2 million, with new greens, fairways, rough and irrigation by Keith Rhebb and Riley Johns of Integrative Golf. The city page says Golf Channel and GolfAdvisor named it the No. 5 short course in the US; we have not read the original ranking.
It plays 2,480 yards at par 35, and the difficulty is the small greens rather than length. A round takes about 75 to 90 minutes, which makes it the best hour of golf in Orlando for a couple or a family, followed by lunch on Park Avenue a few blocks away. Google rates it 4.7.
What to know before you go:
- Fees: $33 Monday to Thursday and $40 Friday to Sunday and holidays for non-residents (October-April); $28 and $34 in summer. Residents $20 and $26 all year. Juniors $12, children 12 and under $8. There is no twilight rate, so the cheap way in is a weekday.
- Walking: pull carts $6; a few electric carts at $14 per person per nine ($12 for seniors).
- Booking: public 3 days ahead on TeeItUp, annual members 7 days. Annual membership is $1,350 for residents and $2,150 for non-residents.
- Hours: 6:30am to 5pm from early November to mid-March, to 6:30pm otherwise. Closed Christmas Day.
- Maintenance days: closed on Mondays November 9 and December 7, 2026, and one Monday every month in 2026.
- Extras: putting green, small pro shop with snacks, rental clubs $14.
See the WP9 course guide.
Winter Park Pines (WP18)
Winter Park Pines, now branded WP18, is the city's 18-hole course: a short, flat 1968 par 70 in a residential neighbourhood, with strong par 3s and a creek running through the whole course. Water and the creek are the main hazards. It is a plain municipal 18 with fair prices, and the research is clear that it is fine for a casual round or a snowbird home course, not a trip highlight.
- Fees: $55 Monday to Thursday and $60 Friday to Sunday and holidays for non-residents, cart included (October-April); $45 and $55 in summer. Maximum two per cart.
- Twilight: nine holes with cart after 3pm for $33 (non-resident) or $29 (resident).
- Season pass: annual play pass (no cart) $1,200 for residents, $1,650 for non-residents; one of the lowest-cost season options in Orlando.
- Practice: driving range (in winter $7 small bucket, $11 large) and chipping and putting greens.
- Maintenance closures: November 16 and December 14, 2026, among others.
See the WP18 course guide.
Dubsdread
Dubsdread is Orlando's historic 1924 city course in the College Park neighbourhood, a tight parkland layout among old oaks and homes, managed by Indigo Sports. It is the closest full 18 to downtown, about 9 minutes away, and the obvious round if you are staying in town. It was renovated in 2008 and has a new TrackMan-powered range.
There is no published rate card; prices are dynamic, and the course says the lowest rates are on its own booking site. GolfNow showed tee times from $38.99 for November 5, 2026. It hosts the Orlando City Amateur in early November, so check the calendar for that weekend. Google rates it 4.6 from more than 1,400 reviews. See the Dubsdread course guide.
Interlachen and the Country Club of Orlando
Both of the area's best-known clubs are private:
- Interlachen Country Club is a demanding Joe Lee course from 1985, redesigned by Steve Smyers in 2007. From the Black tees it is 7,213 yards at 74.6/145. Play is only as a member's guest. It is not the Interlachen in Edina, Minnesota.
- The Country Club of Orlando is the city's old-line private club, next to downtown. Its site has a guests page whose policy we did not read; visitors play only as a member's guest.
The full list is in private golf clubs in Orlando.
More public golf a short drive away
- Casselberry Golf Club: a short 1947 par 69 about 20 minutes from downtown, $52 on weekday mornings and $64 at weekends (cart $40 extra), with a lighted range and a $399 monthly unlimited pass.
- Rio Pinar: a 1957 semi-private club on the east side with Florida Citrus Open history, from $35 on GolfNow for November 5, 2026.
North of Winter Park, the Seminole County courses are in Lake Mary golf courses, and the east side is in Lake Nona golf.
Around the round
Winter Park golf is as much about the town as the course. Park Avenue, the tree-lined shopping and dining street beside Central Park, is a few blocks from WP9. The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art on Park Avenue is known for its Tiffany collection and is a good rainy-afternoon stop. Kraft Azalea Garden is a small, free lakeside garden on Lake Maitland, and Harry P. Leu Gardens sits on Lake Rowena north-east of downtown.
For food, Prato (Italian) and Bosphorous (Turkish) are on Park Avenue, Hamilton's Kitchen at The Alfond Inn is a short walk from Park Avenue and close to WP9, and 4 Rivers Smokehouse on Fairbanks Ave is the casual barbecue stop. East End Market, a food hall in Audubon Park, is between downtown and Winter Park. More ideas are in where to eat in Orlando and things to do in Orlando besides golf.
Where to stay
Our map has no hotel in Winter Park itself. The Hampton Inn Orlando International Airport is about 18 minutes from WP18, and Orlando Sanford International (SFB), about 38 minutes from downtown, is the research's suggested airport for Winter Park, Lake Mary and Mount Dora bases.
When to play
- October to April: winter rates at the city courses; January to April is peak demand.
- November: the driest month at Orlando International (about 1.8 inches of rain on 6 days) and the Orlando City Amateur at Dubsdread early in the month.
- May to September: summer rates at WP9 and WP18; play early to beat the afternoon storms.
Check the city maintenance list before every round: each course closes one Monday a month.
