Marco Island golf: Island Country Club, Hideaway Beach and the JW Marriott's Rookery and Hammock Bay

Marco Island golf has a catch: both courses on the island, Island Country Club and Hideaway Beach, are private. The golf a visitor can play belongs to the JW Marriott Marco Island, which owns the Rookery at Marco and Hammock Bay on the mainland for its guests and members. Public Eagle Lakes and Lely Resort are a short drive north.

Fees were seen in November 2026 unless dated, and they change.

The private clubs on Marco Island

• Island Country Club: private, members and their accompanied guests only. It is not bookable for visitors without a member.
• Hideaway Beach: golf for members and guests of Hideaway Beach, a gated community on the island.

Neither publishes a guest route for visitors, so a stay on Marco does not open either one. See private golf clubs in Naples.

The JW Marriott's courses: the Rookery and Hammock Bay

The JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort owns two "resort private" courses on the mainland. Play is for members and resort guests, and GolfPass's resort page says a stay is required for a tee time. One report says the two courses alternate days between members-only play and members-plus-guests, so ask which is open to guests on your dates. Golf packages are sold through the resort and Tee Times USA, with rates by phone (800-374-8633).

The Rookery at Marco

The Rookery is a long Robert Cupp course from 1991, later redesigned by Cupp, inside the gated Fiddler's Creek development. It is the reason to pick the Marriott for a golf stay. Resort guests book through the golf site, with dynamic pricing: book further ahead for a lower rate. The "Bring Your Swing" offer was nine holes after 2pm for $149 including rental clubs, and TaylorMade rentals cost $90 for 18 and $55 for nine. It has a practice range.

Hammock Bay

Hammock Bay began as the 1974 Marco Shores course by Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge. It reopened after a $4.8 million turfgrass replacement and redesign with PlatinumTE paspalum, so it plays on fresh turf. Marriott guests book it through the Rookery golf site, and its pricing is dynamic too. Both courses hosted Florida State Golf Association amateur events on August 29-30, 2026. Public golf near Marco Island

If you are not staying at the JW Marriott, drive north on Collier Boulevard:

• Eagle Lakes: an open, water-lined course off US 41 east of Naples toward Marco, with new Bimini bermuda fairways from 2024. November and December 2026 rates were $89 to $109, and twilight from 2:30pm was $55. See the Eagle Lakes course guide.

• Hibiscus: Hibiscus, public until April 2027, posted $159 before noon and $99 after 2:04pm from November 1, 2026.

Where to stay for Marco Island golf

• JW Marriott Marco Island: the only Marco hotel that unlocks golf. Costs add up: a resort fee of about $55 a night plus tax (an undated listing), and parking of $38 self-park or $48 valet per vehicle per night, plus tax. No live room rate was read.
• Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort & Spa: a solid beach hotel with no course and no golf perks.
• Mainland value: the Hampton Inn & Suites Naples East on US 41 East sits on the road to Marco and Lely, 4 minutes from Hibiscus.

A winter on Marco

For a long stay, the JW Marriott's courses are a membership question rather than a hotel one: the Rookery sells a partial-equity membership that includes Hammock Bay, with terms not published. Otherwise, a Marco-area snowbird usually builds a rotation on the mainland. Renters at GreenLinks Golf Villas at Lely get preferred tee times and discounts on Flamingo Island and Mustang, and Sun Retreats Naples on Collier Boulevard, close to Lely, lists RV sites from about $82 a night on Campspot. Eagle Lakes' 24-round Fall Pass costs $1,200 plus $25 cart per round.

When to go

NOAA normals at Naples Municipal Airport, the coastal station that also covers Marco Island, give January highs about 75F and lows about 56F, with under 5 rain days, and summer highs about 91F with afternoon storms on 15 to 19 days a month. January to April is peak season for the resort and the courses. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30; check the resort's status before booking in that window.
