True Blue Golf Club is a public, 1998 Mike Strantz course at Pawleys Island and Caledonia's bigger, wilder sister across US 17. It plays 7,126 yards from the Black tees, with very wide fairways, vast sandy waste areas and large, contoured greens. Summer 2027 specials start at $109 in the morning, and it is usually cheaper than Caledonia.
Most groups book the two as a pair: same owner, same booking office, and a two-course special. This guide covers access, the rates we found and how firm each one is, the layout and tees, and the villas on the course. Prices were seen November 1, 2026 unless noted and change by season.

The layout
True Blue is Strantz at full scale. The fairways are very wide, but the course is lined with huge waste areas of sand, lakes come into play, and the greens are big with real movement. The difficulty is less about finding the fairway than about the angle into greens and the putts once you are there. The course record rates it 4 out of 5 for difficulty and notes forced carries.
Two holes stand out on the main booking site's list: the par-3 3rd, to an island-style green, and the par-4 18th, over water. Practice is a driving range, putting green and chipping green, and the clubhouse has a restaurant, pro shop and club rentals.
On the lists: Golf Digest put True Blue 33rd in South Carolina for 2025-26, as cited by Where2Golf, and 31st for 2023-24. A Golf Course Trades article, year not stated, had it No. 5 on Golfweek's Best Courses You Can Play in South Carolina, one place behind Caledonia. On GreenFeeTracker in May 2026 it showed a Google rating of 4.4 from 658 reviews.
What True Blue Golf Club costs
The club's GuestDesk booking engine could not be read, so no live spring or fall rate was captured. Here is everything we found, and how solid each figure is.
| Figure | Price | Source and status |
|---|---|---|
| Summer 2027 specials, AM (Jun 21-Aug 31) | from $109 | club rates page, seen Nov 1, 2026 |
| Summer 2027 specials, PM | from $89 | club rates page |
| Juniors, summer 2027 | $29 (12 and under any time; 17 and under after noon) | club rates page |
| Weekday / twilight | $109 / $59 with cart | GreenFeeTracker, checked May 25, 2026; possibly outdated |
| Seasonal range | $79-$165 incl. cart, taxes, resort fee, range balls | SCGA listing, undated |
| Spring and summer 2026 | mostly $170-$200 with cart | third-party listing, unconfirmed |
Treat the last two as rough guides only. An undated GolfLink estimate of about $220 is an estimate, not a rate. Our Myrtle Beach golf rates guide puts these figures next to the rest of the Strand.
Playing True Blue Golf Club well
The fairways are wide enough that most mid-handicappers will find them, which is why the course record says they survive from the right tee. The trouble is the sand. Vast waste areas line many holes, and from the back tees the forced carries add up, so the tee choice decides the day more than the swing does. Pick the set that keeps every carry comfortable, then aim for the side of each fairway that opens the green.
On the greens, size and contour are the defence. Long first putts are normal, and a three-putt from the wrong tier is easy. Take a few minutes on the putting green before you go off, and on the par-3 3rd and the par-4 18th, both played to greens guarded by water, take the club that clears the hazard rather than the one that reaches the flag.

Same slope, very different golf. Caledonia rewards position and is short; True Blue rewards the right angle into big, contoured greens and is long. Play Caledonia a tee further back than usual and True Blue a tee further forward. The two-course special needs one round at each within seven days, paid at the first course. See our Caledonia Golf and Fish Club guide and the Caledonia course guide.
Staying at True Blue
The True Blue Resort villas are owner condos beside the course's tee boxes, in 2- and 3-bedroom units for six to eight guests, with full kitchens and washer-dryers. Caledonia Golf Vacations sells them with preferred pricing and tee-time access at both courses, and it is the dependable way to get Caledonia times in peak spring and fall weeks. Finishes vary, since the units are privately owned, and the beach is about 3 miles away.
Rates were "check rates" on November 1, 2026. A Golfbreaks listing showed a True Blue Resort package at $515 including tax and resort fees, with length and dates not stated. A Hammock Coast offer of three nights and four rounds from $499 per person was dated through December 31, 2025 and has expired. The Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort, 9 minutes away, also sells True Blue villas alongside its beach condos. Compare options in Myrtle Beach golf condos.
When to play True Blue Golf Club
Spring and fall are peak pricing on the shared Caledonia and True Blue booking page, and summer is the value window, when the specials run. Summer highs at the coast are 85F to 88F with storms on 11 to 13 days a month, so take the morning times. Overseed and aeration dates are not published, so ask when you book a late-summer or fall round. See Myrtle Beach summer golf.
A weekend built around True Blue
A sample shape using drive times from the True Blue villas, not a package anyone sells. Day 1: True Blue, straight out of the villa. Day 2: Caledonia, 4 minutes away, inside the seven-day special. Day 3: Heritage Club or River Club, both 6 minutes away. TPC Myrtle Beach, 27 minutes north, is the obvious fourth round, and the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet is the night out on the way. For a bigger group, the villas' 2- and 3-bedroom units mean two foursomes can split two condos and still walk to the first tee.
Nearby rounds
From the True Blue villas, Founders Club is 5 minutes, Heritage Club 6 and Pawleys Plantation 9. Pawleys Plantation is the South Strand's Nicklaus course, rated 75.7/148 from the back; see the Pawleys Plantation course guide. The area guide is Pawleys Island golf, and the ranked list is best golf courses in Myrtle Beach.
