Courses west to east: Iron Wolf Golf Club Lake Havasu guide: the former Refuge, access and what's known

Iron Wolf Golf Club in Lake Havasu City is the former Refuge Golf & Country Club, an Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay design in the hills on the north end of town. Once private, it is now open to the public, bookable on TeeItUp or at 928-764-1404. It is a short par 70 with lake views and a Toptracer range, and it reopened from overseed on October 7, 2026.

From the Refuge to Iron Wolf Golf Club

Iron Wolf began as The Refuge, a private club inside the Refuge gated home community. Sources disagree on its opening year: 1994-95, 2003 and 2004 all appear, and the map record uses 2003.

When What changed
2021New management took over
Spring 2023Front nine reopened under the Iron Wolf name; public play through a "member for a day" option
Under new management (dates not given)A California developer reworked the club; nines renamed Lakeview and Riverview; redesigned bunkers with white sand
Late September 2026Havasu News ("Into year five") reported the overseed and an October 7 reopening, under club president John Quinn
October 2026Club site says the 18 holes are open to the public, with TeeItUp booking

The member-for-a-day wording is not on the current site. Today you simply book a public tee time.

The layout

Iron Wolf is a desert course in the hills with elevation changes, water features and lake views. It is short for a par 70, but the hills add to the challenge. Greens and fairways are bermuda.

Tee Yards Par Rating / slope
Black6,4347069.7 / 119

Only one tee set's rating was found, from GolfPass. Some listings give a total of about 6,119 to 6,121 yards, so check the card on the day. Walking is not allowed; TeeOff lists a cart as required.

Iron Wolf Golf Club Lake Havasu rates

Iron Wolf does not publish a rate sheet online. What the research found:

AggregatorAbout $85Peak-season round, unofficial
GolfNow / TeeOff hot deal$33.26October 8, 2026, prepaid, promotional
Resident rate, punch card or season passNot foundThe club sells memberships; prices not published

The gap between those numbers is wide, so call the shop for winter rates and watch GolfNow for deals. For comparison, Lake Havasu Golf Club posts $94 before noon on Desert West and $82 on Desert East for 2026/2027. The Laughlin golf rates guide has fees course by course.

Booking and hours

  • Online: the TeeItUp booking page (iron-wolf-golf-and-country-club.book.teeitup.com).
  • Phone: 928-764-1404, option 2.
  • Resale: GolfNow and TeeOff.
  • Booking window: not published.

An earlier listing said the course was closed Tuesdays, with a first tee time of 6:30 AM and a last of 3:30 PM. Havasu News said new visitor hours started with the October 2026 reopening, but the details were not found. Confirm the day you want before you drive up.

GolfPass reviewers have complained of greens aerated shortly before play with little notice, so ask about recent maintenance when you book.

Range, restaurant and pool

Iron Wolf has more than a golf course. The driving range has Toptracer bays, open Wednesday to Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday. There is also a putting green, a chipping area and a teaching pro.

The restaurant and bar are open to the public, there is a pool with Friday pool parties in summer, and the club runs an events calendar. On a windy or wet day, the only golf simulator found in the area is Back Nine Golf on McCulloch Blvd.

Overseed in 2026

Havasu News reported in late September 2026 that Iron Wolf had been overseeded and would reopen on October 7, 2026. The closure start date was not found. A GolfNow hot deal for October 8 confirms tee times were selling the day after. The Laughlin golf overseed guide lists other courses' windows; at Lake Havasu Golf Club, Desert West was still closed for overseed in late October 2026.

Getting there and where to stay

Iron Wolf is the closest Havasu course for groups coming south on AZ-95 from Laughlin and Bullhead City, about 86 minutes and 63.6 miles from the Laughlin-Bullhead City Bridge.

The Arizona clock

Iron Wolf Golf Club in Lake Havasu runs on Arizona time, with no daylight saving. From November 1, 2026 to March 14, 2027, it is one hour ahead of Laughlin. If you drive down from a Laughlin casino for a morning tee time, add that hour to the 86-minute drive. From March 14, 2027 the clocks match. The Laughlin time zone guide explains it.

Iron Wolf in a Havasu golf week

Iron Wolf gives a change of scene from the older Lake Havasu Golf Club, with hill holes and redesigned bunkers. A three-day Havasu trip could play Desert West, Desert East and Iron Wolf, with Emerald Canyon near Parker as a fourth round about 40 minutes south of town. Bridgewater Links at London Bridge Resort has an unclear status, so call first.

Read the Lake Havasu Golf Club guide, the Lake Havasu golf overview and the Lake Havasu golf trip itinerary. The Iron Wolf course guide and Emerald Canyon course guide have more detail.

Plan it on the map
