Our research pinned these places in November 2026 but did not re-check most hours, prices or opening for 2026-27, so confirm before you go. Course drive times are from the Strip at Flamingo Road.

Outdoors: canyons, the dam and the lake

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. A 13-mile one-way scenic drive and hikes through red sandstone, about 25 minutes from Summerlin. Timed-entry reservations have been required in the busy season in recent years; our research did not check the 2026-27 rule. The Arroyo Golf Club at Red Rock, a public Palmer course, sits under the canyon.

Hoover Dam. The 1930s dam on the Colorado River, a short drive past Boulder City. Walk the dam top and the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman bridge; tour prices and hours were not read. The Arizona side keeps Mountain Standard Time, an hour ahead of Las Vegas in winter. Boulder Dam Brewing Company in Boulder City's historic downtown is the natural stop on the way back.

Lake Mead (Boulder Beach). The nearest swimming beach and picnic area on the lake, between Henderson, Lake Las Vegas and Boulder City. An NPS entrance fee applies; the amount was not read.

River Mountains Loop Trail. A 34-mile paved loop for cycling and walking linking Henderson, Lake Las Vegas, Lake Mead and Boulder City. Ride a section on a non-golf day.

Clark County Wetlands Park. A free nature preserve along the Las Vegas Wash with flat trails, birding and a nature center; a quiet morning near the Henderson courses.

Seven Magic Mountains. Ugo Rondinone's stacked, painted boulders off Las Vegas Boulevard south of the valley, about 25-30 minutes from the south Strip; a quick photo stop on the drive to or from Los Angeles.

Evenings on and off the Strip

  • The Strip: the 4-mile run of resorts from Mandalay Bay to the Strat. Walk the centre section (Bellagio, Caesars, the LINQ) at night.
  • Fountains of Bellagio: free fountain shows on Bellagio's lake, best after dark, plus the free conservatory inside.
  • Sphere: the LED-skinned venue next to the Venetian; immersive films and concerts inside need tickets, and the exterior show is visible from much of the Strip.
  • Fremont Street Experience: the pedestrian mall under the LED canopy downtown, with free evening light shows and cheaper tables than the Strip.
  • Sports: the Vegas Golden Knights play NHL hockey at T-Mobile Arena from October to April, and the Raiders play NFL home games at Allegiant Stadium from September to January. Schedules were not read.

Rainy-day ideas

Rain is rare (about 4 inches a year at the airport), but February averages four rain days. Indoor options from our research, with hours and prices not read:

  1. The Mob Museum: the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement in the 1933 former courthouse, one block from Fremont Street; plan two to three hours.
  2. National Atomic Testing Museum: the Nevada Test Site and the atomic age, on East Flamingo Road next to Lotus of Siam.
  3. AREA15: Meow Wolf's Omega Mart and the Emporium arcade bar on South Rancho Drive.
  4. Shark Reef Aquarium: at Mandalay Bay on the south Strip.
  5. Springs Preserve: 180 acres at the city's original springs with the Nevada State Museum, indoor galleries and gardens.

For partners who are not playing

On a couples trip where one of you golfs, the location of the course decides the other person's morning. A Summerlin round leaves Red Rock Canyon about 25 minutes away, with Downtown Summerlin's restaurants close by. A Henderson or Lake Las Vegas round sits near the River Mountains Loop, the Wetlands Park and Lake Mead. A Strip round at Bali Hai or Wynn leaves the partner on the Strip itself, with the Bellagio conservatory, Shark Reef and the pool. Our where to stay in Las Vegas for golf guide compares the Strip, Henderson, Summerlin, Lake Las Vegas and Boulder City as bases.

Sample rest-day plans

  • West side: morning at Red Rock Canyon, lunch in Downtown Summerlin, an afternoon at TPC Las Vegas or the Arroyo.
  • East side: Hoover Dam in the morning, a round at Boulder City Golf Course or Boulder Creek, then Boulder Dam Brewing.
  • Strip day: a morning at Bali Hai (7 minutes from the Strip), the pool, Topgolf at sunset and the Bellagio fountains after dinner. Wynn Golf Club, the only course on the Strip, is the splurge version.

Dining near each of these is in where to eat in Las Vegas for golfers.
