Green-fee ranges: Biloxi weather by month, in plain golf terms

Biloxi weather by month runs from a normal high of 60F in January to 90F in August. October is the driest month, at about 3.7 inches, and July the wettest, at about 8.1 inches on 14 days. March and April are the windiest. For golf, that means mild winters, a breezy spring, hot wet summers and a dry, comfortable October.

The figures in this guide are NOAA's 1991-2020 Climate Normals for the Biloxi beachfront station, which sits between Biloxi and Gulfport near Keesler AFB and best represents the casinos and coast courses. Wind is a 2016-2025 average from Gulfport-Biloxi airport, and water temperatures are our averages of NOAA tide-station readings. Normals are long-term averages, not forecasts.

Rain days count days with at least 0.01 inch. Water is the Bay Waveland gauge on the Bay of St. Louis, 2016-2025. The airport, about 2.5 miles inland, runs 1-1.5F warmer by day in spring and summer and 1-2F cooler at night, and is a little drier over the year.

What each season means on the course

Winter (December to February): layers and dormant grass

Highs of 60-63F make for comfortable mid-day golf, but mornings start in the mid-40s, so bring a layer you can shed by the turn. Rain days rise to about 9 a month. Most coast courses are bermudagrass, and those that do not overseed go dormant and tan from about December to March. Pick later morning tee times rather than the first slot.

Spring (March to May): wind and perfect temperatures

April is the sweet spot on temperature, with highs near 76F and lows near 60F, but March and April are the windiest months at the airport, around 8 mph on average. Club up into the breeze off the Sound and expect bigger numbers on open holes. Rain stays moderate at 5.2-5.7 inches a month. By late May, highs reach 83F and humidity builds.

Summer (June to September): heat, humidity and storms

June to August highs sit at 88-90F with lows near 74-75F, so even dawn is warm. Rain falls on 12 to 14 days a month in June to August, mostly as afternoon thunderstorms; July is the wettest month. Winds are the lightest of the year, under 5 mph in July and August, which makes the heat feel heavier. Book the first tee times, carry extra water and plan to be off the course by early afternoon. Many courses aerify greens in this window; Windance closes June 1-4 and August 3-6. See Biloxi summer golf.

Fall (October and November): the dry window

October is the best weather month: highs near 79F, lows near 62F and the fewest rain days of the year. November cools to about 69F with crisp 51F mornings. A light jacket for the first holes is enough. Hurricane season runs to November 30, and the main risk for the coast is August to October, so check the tropics before an early fall trip. Our hurricane season Biloxi golf guide covers insurance and cancellations.

Inland weather at Fallen Oak and Grand Bear

Fallen Oak and Grand Bear sit in the pine country around Saucier, north of I-10. NOAA's Saucier Experimental Forest station, a few miles north of both, shows the difference:

Month Beach high / low (F) Saucier high / low (F)
Jan59.8 / 43.661.4 / 40.6
Mar69.3 / 53.471.5 / 49.3
Apr75.8 / 60.477.1 / 55.3
Jul89.7 / 75.390.0 / 71.5
Oct79.1 / 61.979.4 / 57.4
Dec62.2 / 45.963.6 / 42.2

Inland days are slightly warmer and nights are noticeably cooler, so early tee times there can start chilly in winter, and frost delays are possible from December to February. Spring rounds there are sheltered from the Sound breeze. May is wetter inland than on the coast, at about 6.7 inches. Our Fallen Oak course guide and Grand Bear course guide cover both courses.

What to pack, month by month

  • December to February: a warm mid-layer, a wind shell, winter gloves for early starts inland.
  • March to May: a wind layer, an extra sleeve of balls for breezy marsh holes at courses like The Bridges, rain gear.
  • June to September: light, breathable clothing, a hat, sunscreen and an umbrella for the afternoon storms.
  • October and November: a light jacket for mornings; short sleeves by noon.

Weather and hurricane season

Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. For the Mississippi coast the main risk window is August to October, with the Atlantic peak around September 10. Normals do not show storms, so a September or October trip can be dry and perfect one year and disrupted the next: Hurricane Isaias brought tropical-storm gusts to the coast on October 8-10, 2026, inside the driest month of the year. Low coastal roads can close for surge during a tropical storm, while I-10 runs 5 to 8 miles inland.

Turning the weather into a trip plan

Weather is only one part of timing. Green fees peak in spring, casino rooms jump on Friday and Saturday nights, and events like Cruisin' the Coast in early October fill every hotel. Our best time to golf in Biloxi guide weighs weather against prices and crowds month by month. For season detail, see winter golf in Mississippi and Biloxi golf in spring. Plan it on the map

Open the Biloxi golf map to see every course with its drive time from your hotel, including the inland Saucier courses where mornings run cooler. The $30 plan builds a day-by-day trip that puts early tee times on hot days and the inland courses where they fit.
