Direction and drive time from downtown: Davenport FL golf: Highlands Reserve, White Heron, Providence, Southern Dunes and the vacation-home belt

Davenport FL golf is a cluster of public courses among the vacation homes off US-27, south of I-4: Providence, with clear published rates; Highlands Reserve, in a villa community; White Heron, the rebuilt Ridgewood Lakes; and Southern Dunes, a hilly Steve Smyers course just south in Haines City. The centre of Davenport is about 34 minutes from Disney Springs.

Davenport is where many groups and snowbirds rent pool homes, so the golf here is about convenience and value rather than famous names. The Omni ChampionsGate and Reunion courses are a few minutes north. Prices were seen in November 2026 unless dated, and they change.

Quick facts

  • Best value: Providence, $99 before 2pm in November-December 2026, published by the club.
  • The serious test: Southern Dunes, Haines City, about 100 feet of elevation change.
  • Longest: White Heron, 7,409 yards from the back tees.
  • Cheapest seen: Deer Creek from $14.99 and Polo Park East from $15 on GolfNow.
  • Status unclear: the Grenelefe courses near Haines City (likely closed).
  • Drive: about 34 minutes to Disney Springs, 49 to downtown Orlando.

Providence Golf Club

Providence is a privately owned daily-fee club inside the gated Providence community, designed by Mike Dasher. It is well liked (Google 4.4 from about 1,270 reviews), and it is one of the few Orlando courses to publish a full season of prices:

Dates Morning Midday Late
Nov 1-Dec 31, 2026$99 before 2pm-$59 after 2pm
January 2027$129$109$65
Feb 1-Mar 31, 2027$149 before noon$119 noon-3pm$99 after 3pm
Apr 1-Sep 30, 2027$69 before 2pm$49 2-4pm$35 after 4pm

All rates are plus 7% tax; replay rates are in the shop. Booking is online with a 48-hour cancellation policy. Under $100 in November and December makes it one of the best-value rounds south of Disney. See the Providence course guide.

Highlands Reserve Golf Club

Highlands Reserve is an easy-going 1998 Mike Dasher course surrounded by Davenport vacation rentals off US-27. Its four tee sets give everyone a sensible option:

Tees Yards Men's rating/slope Women's rating/slope
Black6,63371.9/123-
White6,10969.6/11975.2/126
Gold5,61167.1/11772.5/120
Jade4,61462.6/10567.0/108

Tee times are on GolfNow; no rates were published on the pages read. For families renting nearby it is the walk-over round, about 25 minutes from Disney (estimate). See the Highlands Reserve course guide.

White Heron Golf Club

White Heron is the former Ridgewood Lakes, a 1994 Ted McAnlis course rebuilt and renamed in 2020. It is long and well bunkered, a par 72 of 7,409 yards from the back, and cheap: GolfNow showed tee times from $43 for November 5, 2026. Some directories call it semi-private, but public tee times are on GolfNow. It is about 35 minutes from Disney via US-27 (estimate) and a sensible round for Davenport-based groups.

Southern Dunes

Southern Dunes Golf & Country Club in Haines City is a 1993 Steve Smyers course on a big sandy hillside, with about 100 feet of elevation change and huge bunkers, unlike most golf around Orlando. It is about 7,200 yards from the back. It is a member club that sells public tee times online, with Trackman bays and lessons. Google rates it 4.5 from more than 1,600 reviews, and the research calls it one of the best public tests near Orlando. Rates were not published. See the Southern Dunes course guide.

The cheap community courses

  • ChampionsGate Country Club: a newer community course (Clifton, Ezell & Clifton, opened 2015) with a Davenport address, separate from the Omni's two courses. From $49 on GolfNow, about a third of the Omni price.
  • Deer Creek RV Golf & Country Club: an RV-resort course on US-27, very cheap and simple, from $14.99. Mainly for RV snowbirds staying there.
  • Polo Park East: a community course from $15, useful mainly for nearby residents and snowbirds.

Close by: ChampionsGate and Reunion

A few minutes north, the Omni ChampionsGate International and National courses are Greg Norman resort courses open to the public, at $140 to $189 for November 5, 2026 on GolfLink. The Reunion courses, including the Nicklaus, are for Reunion Resort guests and renters in partner homes. See ChampionsGate golf and Reunion Resort golf.

Grenelefe: status unclear

The two former Grenelefe Golf & Tennis Resort courses near Haines City (an Ed Seay and Arnold Palmer East course and a Ron Garl and Andy Bean South course) still appear in directories, but the resort's website returned an error in November 2026, and a report on Lennar redevelopment of the former resort surfaced without a confirmed date. They are likely closed; call first. They are not on our map.

At Highlands Reserve, renter golf terms were not read, so confirm with the owner. Solterra is a pool-home community with no course; book tee times elsewhere. A four-round Davenport FL golf trip

For a group in a rental home off US-27, this order works through the area from easiest to hardest, using the November-December 2026 prices above where they are published:

  1. Highlands Reserve: the gentle opener, with Jade and Gold tees for the higher handicaps.
  2. White Heron: long and bunkered, from $43 on GolfNow.
  3. Providence: $99 before 2pm in November-December; book the morning.
  4. Southern Dunes: the stiffest test of the four, best saved for the end of the trip.

Add ChampionsGate Country Club (from $49) for a fifth day, or Deer Creek and Polo Park East for a cheap afternoon round with the family. In February and March, Providence alone rises to $149 before noon, so a peak-season version of the same Davenport FL golf trip costs noticeably more.

When to play

Davenport shares Orlando's climate: about 72F highs and 50F lows in January, about 92F in July. Providence's rate table shows the season in dollars: $99 in November-December, $129 in January, $149 in February-March, and $69 from April. Book February and March early, when snowbirds, spring breaks, Canadian March break and the Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 15-21, 2027) overlap. June to September is cheapest, with afternoon thunderstorms most days, so take the first tee times. See Orlando golf rates.

Who Davenport golf suits

Davenport FL golf suits buddies groups in a big rental house, snowbirds who want a weekly rotation of cheap rounds, and families who want a round near the villa and Animal Kingdom within reach. A group could play Providence, Highlands Reserve, White Heron and Southern Dunes on four straight days from one rental house. For more, see the Orlando buddies golf trip guide, and for a bigger day out south, Streamsong from Orlando.
