Locator map: Mobile to Biloxi: flying into MOB, driving west and adding Alabama golf

Mobile to Biloxi is about 60 miles and 81 minutes on I-10 west from Mobile Regional Airport (MOB), without traffic. The new downtown Mobile airport (BFM), due in early 2027, will be about 74 minutes away. Mobile flies the same hubs as Gulfport, so it is mainly worth it for the east end of the Mississippi coast or a trip that adds Alabama golf.

This guide covers the drive, the airports, the courses you reach first, and how to add Alabama rounds. Drive times are free-flow router estimates and prices were seen in October 2026; check both before booking.

Quick facts

  • MOB to Biloxi (Beau Rivage): 81 min, 59.9 miles.
  • MOB to downtown Gulfport: 94 min, 72.5 miles.
  • BFM (new downtown airport) to Biloxi: 74 min, 60.7 miles; no scheduled flights as of October 2026.
  • MOB airlines: American Eagle, Delta, United Express, regional jets only.
  • First coast courses west of Mobile: Shell Landing (Gautier), The Preserve (Vancleave).
  • Time zone: Central.

Mobile to Biloxi by car

Head west on I-10 from Mobile into Mississippi. The east-end exits for Pascagoula, Gautier, Vancleave and Ocean Springs come first, then I-110 drops south from I-10 to the Biloxi casino strip. The router times do not include traffic: the travel research flags I-10 through Mobile at rush hour and the Mobile I-10 tunnel as places to add time.

Drivers coming from further north also pass Mobile. Birmingham is about 5 hours 46 minutes to Biloxi and Atlanta about 7 hours 6 minutes, both via I-65 to Mobile and I-10 west; Nashville is about 9 hours 10 minutes the same way. See driving to a Biloxi golf trip for every city.

Route lists as read in October 2026. The research sums it up: same hubs as GPT, so rarely better. Washington-Dulles is the one hub Mobile has that Gulfport does not. Our guide to Gulfport Biloxi airport flights has the GPT detail, and New Orleans to Biloxi covers the airport with the most nonstops.

The new downtown airport

Mobile International Airport (BFM, the former Mobile Downtown Airport at Brookley) had no regular scheduled flights as of October 2026. American, Delta and United plan to move there from Mobile Regional when the new five-gate terminal opens, which officials put in early 2027 without a firm date. If you are booking a 2027 trip, check which Mobile airport your ticket uses.

First stops west of Mobile: the east-end courses

Driving in from Mobile, the east end of the Mississippi coast is where you can play before you even reach the casinos.

Shell Landing is a Davis Love III course, 7,023 yards and slope 134 from the back, and the research calls it the value round of the east side. The Preserve is Jerry Pate's course on protected wetlands and pine savanna north of I-10, priced like a resort course with cart, range balls, bag service and tax included. Its winter rate of $175 runs Nov 16, 2026 to Feb 14, 2027. See our Shell Landing course guide and The Preserve course guide.

Palace Casino Resort owns The Preserve and builds one-night stay-and-play packages with it; our Palace Casino golf package guide covers them.

Where to stay if you come from Mobile

The Hampton Inn Biloxi/Ocean Springs at I-10 exit 50 is the practical east-side base, about 17 minutes to The Preserve and 21 to Shell Landing. On Tuesday Nov 10, 2026 a king was $80 and on Saturday Nov 21, 2026 $104, before tax (seen October 2026; typical, not a quote). Gautier has no good hotel of its own, per the hotel research. Our Ocean Springs golf guide covers that end of the coast.

If you want the casinos, the Biloxi strip is a short drive further west. Saucier's Fallen Oak, open only to guests of Beau Rivage, and public Grand Bear sit north of the casinos via I-110 and the highways north.

Adding Alabama golf to a Biloxi trip

Mobile sits between the Mississippi coast and the Alabama beaches, so a trip through it can pick up Alabama rounds.

Our research does not include a direct drive time from Biloxi to Magnolia Grove, so check a map before stacking it on a travel day.

When to make the Mobile run

The Mississippi coast's best golf months are March to May and October to November. Two things shift the plan:

  • Event weeks. Cruisin' the Coast takes over the Mississippi coast in the first full week of October, and the Peter Anderson festival fills Ocean Springs, the east-end base, on its November weekend (Nov 7-8 in 2026). US 90 jams on both.
  • Storms. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, with the main risk from August to October. In October 2026, Hurricane Isaias made landfall in the western Florida Panhandle and gave the Mississippi coast tropical-storm gusts, including 47 knots at Pascagoula, with surge closures on low coastal roads.

Train option

Amtrak's Mardi Gras Service runs New Orleans to Mobile and stops on the coast. Amtrak added a temporary Ocean Springs stop for the 2026 Peter Anderson festival. For a golf trip, you will still want a car: the coast courses spread about 60 miles from Bay St. Louis to Pascagoula and 20 to 35 minutes inland.

Plan it on the map

Open the Biloxi golf map to see the east-end courses, the casinos and every hotel with drive times, so a trip that starts in Mobile can play its way west. The $30 plan builds the day-by-day route.

Questions golfers ask

How far is Biloxi from Mobile?

From Mobile Regional Airport (MOB) in west Mobile it is about 60 miles and 81 minutes to the Biloxi casinos on I-10 west, without traffic. From the new downtown Mobile International Airport (BFM) it is about 61 miles and 74 minutes.

Is it better to fly into Mobile or Gulfport for Biloxi?

Usually Gulfport. Mobile Regional is served by the same hubs as Gulfport-Biloxi (Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, plus Washington-Dulles), so it rarely saves a connection, and GPT is only about 27 minutes from the casinos. Mobile makes sense for the Ocean Springs and Pascagoula end or a trip that adds Alabama.

Which airlines fly into Mobile?

American Eagle (Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth), Delta (Atlanta) and United Express (Houston-IAH, Washington-Dulles), all on regional jets, as of October 2026.

When does the new Mobile airport open?

Officials put the opening of the new five-gate downtown terminal (BFM, Mobile International Airport) in early 2027, with no firm date as of October 2026. American, Delta and United plan to move there from Mobile Regional, so check which airport a 2027 ticket uses.

Which Biloxi golf courses are closest to Mobile?

The east-end courses: Shell Landing in Gautier and The Preserve in Vancleave, both off I-10 east of Biloxi and about 25 to 28 minutes from downtown Biloxi. They are the first coast courses you reach driving west from Mobile.

Can I combine Biloxi with golf in Alabama?

Yes. Mobile has the RTJ Trail's Magnolia Grove, and Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are further east. Our Gulf Shores guides cover those courses and their prices.

Is Mobile on the same time zone as Biloxi?

Yes. Mobile, Biloxi, Gulfport, New Orleans and Pensacola are all on Central Time.
